At work on Tuesday I was talking wrestling with a co-worker about our greatest evers, then I realised we missed the 'Greatest Ever Nevers'. Who in your opinion is the single wrestler in the history of the sport (enertainment) to miss out on what their potential could/should have earned?

The obvious choice seems to be RVD, but I belive that he HAS forefilled most of his potential. He was a great candidate for ECW champ, but, and lets be honest, his style just doesnt fit with WWE champ material. Now a lot of you may disagree and acuse me of RVD hating, but I love the guy, he just doesnt really cut it like that for me.

Another good choice is of course Scott Hall, once called 'The Greatest Man Never To Hold A World Title' (admitedly by Kevin Nash!).

But after careful consideration I would have to say, wait for it................... Big Sid V. Sure he held the heavyweight titles in both WWE and WCW, but the guy could have been the next Hogan, but he just didnt seem to want it. He just wanted to bring in enough money to live on by doing something he loved.

With a bit more effort he could have been The Man!

Here endeth the lesson.

SO far, Sean O'Haire. A high flying good bumper power guy? How did you [edited] this up WWE?

Erm, Brock Lesnar, anyone?

Cheers!

*chokes on beer*

Brock Lesnar?????

He has the personality of a lobotomised chimp, plus he held the belt... it's just when they took it off him he decided to throw his rattle out and dis wrestling!

IhatehimIhatehimIhatehim!

*takes deep breaths*

Ahem...

I would have to agree, Scott Hall was something special, the ladder match with Shaun Micheals will always stick in my mind.

I would have to say though, as great as he was, that Jake the snake Roberts could have gone much further in his career. That is no disrespect to him as I would readily kiss his feet. But I feel he could have done so much more.

Saracen

Ok maybe he was a great Tag Wrestler and he held the IC title a couple of times.....

But how can you forget OWEN HART

This guy would have gone onto such big things. He was a class worker and was fun to watch in the ring. He was soooo over with the crowd either as face or heel.

His mic work was superb, (even if he did have a strange voice),and he cut some mean moves all over the ring and was involved in some real quality angles and works.

Worth a thought one would hope

Saracen, the only reason you disagree with Brock Lesnar is because you hate him.

We're not talking about people who could/should have held the belt, we're talking about people who could have gone on to true greatness, but never did (hence the title: Greatest Never).

So again, erm, Brock Lesnar, anyone?

Cheers!

Twas a joke Boyo, I hoped the Ihatehim comment would help see that....

Sorry Saracen. T'wasn't funny (or at least, it went over my head).

Well at least we are in agreeance; two great minds and all that...

Cheers!

I have a strange sense of humour... usually described as I'm the only one who thinks I'm funny...

As for Brock, he did have potential but non of the patience for it.

Jerry Lynn. WWE signed him up, thought so little of his talent that they didn't use him in the Invasion angle (which in my opinion was handled badly), and then they let him go again. And in my opinion, it's just as well they did because he's probably working more now in the indies than he would have working for Vince.

Sean O'Haire, as previously mentioned. I never even got to see him wrestle, although I was informed that he was a big agile man who was squandered.

Lance Storm Should have been champ by now especially as Benoit has it i'd have put him as the best never to hold a top belt after benoit.

RVD if vince would loosen up and let him and a few others cut loose and do what they are supposedly capable of as high flyers.

Goldburg he should have had a few more title shots and RVD is the best he deserves the wwe title they should just give it to him hes so great

Ahmed Johnson. He had the look and he was EXTREMELY over with the fans for a good 6 months. His IC title victory over Goldust had the fans going crazy. Then it became apparent that he was an injury prone brute who couldnt work a match to save his life, and his push ended and bye bye Ahmed. But he had the opportunity, he just blew it.

Ultimate Warrior also. Even though he was a huge star and is still talking about to this day, he could have been so much more if he evolved into a better worker and didnt hold Vince up for money before SummerSlam 1991. When that match was over, he got fired and when he finally came back at WMVIII, he wasnt the same and the people quickly got tired of his act.

god the only one i was willing to consider is Razor Ramon (not Scott Hall his gimmick was crap) but youre forgetting people like Yokozuna (best big guy ever) British Bulldog and Dynamite Kid. also billy kidman and owen hart was also decent but not that good. ted dibiase was a solid worker and big show

While Dynamite is my favorite ever wrestler I belive he went as far as he could AND THEN SOME MORE!!!! He was a little guy who utilsed high flying and technical moves in the 80's era or WWF, so what could he have done?

IC champ- yes, and a damn fine one. But he was part of a tag team at a time when in the eyes of the wrestling world that made you a tag specialist. Even if he has clean pinfall wins over Bret Hart on WWF TV. Plus thanks to his staying a team with Davey Boy, the (new) Bulldog got to learn enough to get over alone.

WWF champ- Not at his hight, not then.

Champ in Japan- At the time he was too small in stature to be a non japanese world champion, despite how over he was. BUT HE DID IT ANYWAY!

So no, he wasn't the greatest never. Tom Billington went as far, and further, than I would have expected.

sean o'haire cud of gone so far yet wwe screwed it up as someone said

i feel they will do the same with my favourite at the moment

SYLVAIN GRENIER

Rvd for me, shudda had the world belt.

His style just isn't WWE main event. Damn shame, but thats life.

For me Ted Dibiase is the greatest heel to never "Win" the WWE Championship. Despite getting huge heel heat virtually wherever he went he was never really given the title.

Same could be said of Curt Hennig also, He was always one of my favourites and I'm still amazed to this day that he never wore either the WWE or WCW World Championship, Especially during 1993-94 when a lot of the smaller guys were starting to get pushes, Saying that though he did have a back injury at the time I believe.

Nobody else really comes to mind in my opinion other than Jerry Lynn, But thats only because I'm a huge mark for him. As much as like him it's pretty obvious he was never gonna get anywhere in WWE, Even if he was a great former ECW World Champion.

god mr perfect was awesome. and after just watching summerslam 94 i realise owen hart should have been higher in the card

Mr Perfect was well, just darn Perfect!

Excuse my poor memory, but i remember thinking about Mr Perfect being the one who should be the title holder instead of that idiot Lex Luger.

Probably why I've never liked Luger at all... he got in the way of Curtis!
