Taboo Tuesday Edge wins World Title - No Spoiler

I'm sat at work just about to leave and am having this crazy thought.

My favourite WCW wrestler was Booker T in 2000. The night he won his first title, out of nowhere when not even being in the World title picture was amazing and had me in tears.

Now, I'm just thinking is it even remotely possible that WWE have decided to just take a gamble on Edge tonight. To say he's the poll winner and give him the match and then have him actually win in a hugely emotional moment like that of Booker T?

Nah, probably not but trust me, if they do I'll be in tears again tonight like I was when they did it for Booker as I know just how much the world title will mean to him, as it did Booker.

Taboo Tuesday is next week I think.

It'd be a surprise no doubt for Edge to win but I really, really can't see it happening. I think the best route would be maybe for Edge to totally turn heel then get the belt some time next year and then maybe feud with Orton over it. If Triple H finds it in him to give up his belt. :)

I'd guess they will.

WWE has a strange habit of having new champions around the November area, which inevitably is an absolutely horrible reign. Big Show had one in 1999. Angle had quite a poor reign in 2000 (he just wasn't presented as a real champion). Jericho's in 2001 is well documented. Big Show had a short and useless caretaker reign in 2002, as did Shawn Michaels. Goldberg's reign in 2003 was utterly useless, and Lesnar's was pinnicled by a Royal Rumble defense against Hardcore Holly of all people.

So it's entirely possible.

ok, it's next week Crippler, doh. Shows how much I watch WWE these days. It's good to know that I'm not having to stay up until like 4am just on the offchance that I get to see Edge fulfill his dream. Next Tuesday I'm off to the Madejski to see Reading Leeds, and I have the following day off work so that'll be cool.

Oh it worked for The Rock in 98, and for Shawn in 97 (give or take the feud with Ken Shamrock). But one year out of about five isn't really a thorn in the argument. Rocky was lucky to be in the right place at the right time. He had superb build up, shockingly turned, was presented as vigerously as the Austin program was, had a killer feud with Mankind, and led people to care when the big payoff came at WM15 (Austin v Rock 1).

Doesn't happen often anymore.

I hope Edge gets the shot as well. We've seen too much of Benoit and Michaels vs Triple H already. The interesting thing is tha fact that the two who dont get picked to face Trips have to team together and face La Resistance at the PPV. With Edge and Benoit already being former champs you'd think they wouldn't go there again. And Bad Blood was supposed to be the end of the HBK v HHH feud. So that only leaves Edge. (Fingers x'd).

As for the IC match I want Rhyno to win just 'cos I've always liked him since I saw him in ECW.

Come on, vote Edge and Rhyno for Taboo Tuesday. You know you wanna.

In my opinion, there's absolutly NO WAY that HHH is jobbing. I have plenty of reasons, but here's a few of the biggies-

1. The title match won't be the main event. On Raw, it was announced that all three men will stand in the ring, the winner of the poll will be announced and the match will begin. That will mean that there's at least one more match to go, in the shape of the poll losers Vs La Resistance. There's no way in hell that on a Raw-only PPV, there would be a world title change that wasn't the last match of the show.

2. HHH has just won it back. We know that HHH loves his looooong title reigns, and surely WWE wouldn't book another 1 PPV wonder who wins the belt and loses it within the space of a few weeks.

3. HHH has stroke. Don't believe me? Ask Pat Patterson. If he doesn't want to drop his title, he won't.

4. HHH is holding onto that title until Wrestlemania, because everyone and their dog knows that WWE is going to give us HHH Vs Orton as the Wrestlemania main event.

So what will happen (If we presume that the polls aren't fixed) is that WWE will grant the wish of the majority of their fans by giving their pick a title shot, then 20 minutes later the PPV will end and the fan's pick will have blown his chance.

I do agree that Edge would have been a champion if he hadn't injured his neck and missed the best part of a year, but that long time out has seriously halted his momentum. The reason why Edge got into that "Will he, won't he?" situation as far as being a champion is concerned is because he had just put on a few excellent matches with guys like Angle, Benoit, Eddie, Rey and Chavo. What WWE needs to do now with Edge is put him in a few feuds until Wrestlemania where he's working with talented wrestlers. Fans eat up well worked, 3-4 star matches, and as we've seen before, a few really enjoyable feuds could put him back in the upper echelons of the card. Something like an Edge and Christian Vs Regal and Eugene feud over the tag belts could throw up a few excellent matches, then he could move onto a program with Benoit. Again, we'd see some really enjoyable work from these two, and it would get fans buying him as a legit threat again.

Right now, Edge kinda lacks direction. Hopefully the inevitable heel turn will give him something to do for a few months.

You know, WWE might just be playing a blinder on this one. By throwing Edge in our faces and trying to get us to vote for him, WWE might be overdoing the Edge campaigning deliberately, therefore "the public" don't vote for Edge (whether the voting is fixed or not, doesn't matter), allowing Edge to do a heel turn in the tag title match and possibly join Evolution.

Exactly what I think Russ.... people, DO NOT vote for Benoit (assuming the votes mean something). Whoever you vote for WILL be jobbing. I bet HHH really hopes its Benoit as well. Bastard.

The only problem I see with Edge joining Evolution is that we can all vividly remember him vowing to destroy them one member at a time. He's fought and beat everyone but HHH, so this could be the nail in the coffin. If he joins then it won't make to much sense. Of course neither does half the crap they do so who knows. I'm voting for Edge and Rhyno though.
