A lot of workers have did a lot for the IC belt but Id have to go with possibly the greatest of all time....Bret Hart

I'd love to say Benoit, but I have to agree, Bret Hart.

Perhaps not the longest reign, but Rick Rude gets my vote, Bobby Heenan had a hand in him winning it, which makes it even better. Rude and Warrior had a couple of scorchers over the Intercontinental title. A great wrestler.

Bret Hart, Curt Hennig and Shawn Michaels were all great champions, but I feel Rude never really got what he deserved in the WWF, and that was the World Title. So to try and heal the wound a little, I'd like to see Rude be acknowledged as the 'Greatest Intercontinental Champion ever'

The problem with Rude getting the world title was thus.....in thier series of matches...which lasted years....Warrior night after night obliterated rude....tore him apart...then when Warrior got the belt they didnt have a major Heel so put Rude in there......even though i would love to have seen it happen there was no way they could have put Rude over at Summerslam in the cage match

He should have held the title at one time

So instead of putting Rude over at SummerSlam, they did better by putting Sgt Slaughter over at the Royal Rumble?

I know the Sarge was just used as a way of getting the belt back to Hogan via a War gimmick, but they should have abolished that idea and gone with Rude. I gotta think that the WrestleMania 7 main event would have been much much better, if it was Rude vs Hogan.

I assume by 'night after night' you mean house shows and T.V. tapings, because I don't remember seeing them have that many matches on T.V. (I could be wrong, though.) So how many people would've seen Warrior obliterate Rude?

I say they could've put Rude over at SummerSlam.

I would have to say Mr Perfect I remember him winning the title the first time around then beating texas tornado at summerslam 90 and just thought he was awesome as IC champion :)

but i do agree that there have been many great champions such as Bret Hart,Rick Rude,Shawn Michaels I always wanted Rick Martel to win the IC title though :(

For me, I love Perfect, Bret Hart and Rude, and would happily say any of them.

However, for me personally, and I know this will be controversial, but when I think IC title I think of one man.

DOUBLE J. Jeff Jarrett, for me the greatest IC champion of all time. I am a bit of a Jarrett mark tho so maybe I'm being a weeeeeee bit biased.

I respect Chyna for being the first woman to hold a man's Championship in History, it was a long and hard choice but I go for Chris Jericho. His matches with Chris Benoit etc. in early 2001ish were great. I loved his Royal Rumble 2001 Ladder match (he won the belt then for the second time I believe).

I had to vote for shawn micheals mainly because he is my favorite wrestler of all time , but also because of his matches with the likes of jeff jarrett , razor ramon and the british bulldog.
