Not that it isn't deserved, but I can't wait to hear his speech (and rip it apart :)). Personally can't wait for Piper's speech either. That'll steal the show. I wouldnt be at all surprised if he did have a match, or at least some involvement on the actual WM card. Something to do with Hassan, or maybe even something at Pipers Pit alogn with Austin. One sticking point was the fact that WWE was pushing Hogan to be involved in a match on the pay-per-view in addition to making an appearance for the Hall of Fame induction. Guest Alan Posted March 1, 2005 Share Posted March 1, 2005 Its good to see Hulk being inducted into the Hall Of Fame, he deserves it for all that he has done for the business. I was pleased that he was reffered to as Hulk Hogan rather than Hollywood, and the footage they used was only of his Hulk days in the WWE. That is the best bit, for its those days that he deserves to be put in the HOF, not his past few years as Hollywood Hogan in the WWE and the latter part of WCW. Hassan has so far faced patriots and legends King and Slaughter and triumphed. Austin is lowest common denominator in the extreme with the beer swilling, lack of respect for authority and general ASBO inducing actions. No one can argue that Hogan doesn't belong alongside these other names, he's the biggest star associated with WWE's Hall Of Fame right now. One thing about this makes me think though. Everyone else who's in the Hall Of Fame is retired as an active wrestler. When HBK came out on Raw the other week, JR said "This man is certainly Hall Of Fame bound when he finally decides to retire". Maybe I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but does this mean that you need to have thrown in the towel to be inducted? If so, what does that mean for Hogan? Could he be hanging up his boots for good? He's hardly wrestled a lot of matches over the past few months, but he's never said "I retire". It'll be interesting to see if Hogan adheres to this unwritten rule that you need to be retired to enter the Hall Of Fame, or if he's the first guy to get inducted and carry on working matches every now and then. Maybe, since his false hip and false knee cap was fitted last year, he has decided maybe it is time to call it a day. I mean, he is 51, his legs and hips are buggered, he has more money than he could ever spend, he is helping his daughter with her career now, and he will always be remembered as the biggest, most recognisable face in the history of pro wrestling...what else is there for him to do? That's the reason why someone like Greg Valentine is inducted, but Undertaker, Austin, HBK and Flair aren't. If the latter four were to retire tomorrow, chances are they'd be inducted into the Hall Of Fame this year, or the year after. As for the Slaughter thing, that was a mild exception. He's not working a full schedule, or even half of a normal one, something that WWE would be looking to have Hogan work if he was back with the company. It was just that JR's comment about HBK "He'll be in the Hall Of Fame when he retires" that made me think "Do you need to be retired to get into the Hall Of Fame?".
