How good is this game???? I love the way the heads explode and the new controls work so well. Story is cack but so many nice moments in it. Puts me off from going to eastern europe.

I'm getting Resident Evil 4 for the PS2! :)

 

What is it like? I heard there's no zombies... although there's good reviews about it!

If it didn't have zombies it wouldn't be Res Evil (a bit like the doom movie - it wont be doom because it wont have demons from hell on mars). Not that I've played it, but i think it's the best game on the GameCube and is the only game that utilizes it's graphical power to the full.

No it isn't, or it is but isn't. It's one of those three or four month exclusivity deals, the conversion is already well underway. You'll find a similar dealgoing on with Killer 7, which'll be GC exclusive for a few months before heading to PS2. The GC versions look purdier, though.

No, I haven't come across any zombies yet, but, I've killed loads of 'demented hillbillies' they're far more kick-ass than the zombies ever were. They move alot quicker, gather in groups and interact with one another.

 

What things are new?

The controls have been completely re-worked, It's all in 3D now, so when you press 'up' you go forward. That's really the main difference, between RE4 and the others.

 

Is it a long game?

I haven't finished it yet, but I'm 3 hours in and I'm just about to face the first boss. From what I've read, it's about 25 hours from start to finish.

 

Is it harder?

I personally think it's much easier than the others in the series, simply down to the controls. But as I've said, I've only been playing for 3 hours, and I see myself as a pretty good gamer, and on the default difficulty setting, I've not found it that hard.

 

Is it scarier?

Again, with only 3 hours under my belt, It's hard to say, but there have been a few 'frights' so to speak.

 

are the graphics stunning?

Yes! They are the best visuals I've seen on a home console ever.

 

It all comes down to what you like. If you're a fan of the Resiident Evil series, you'll love it. It's by far the best Resi game ever.

I also recomend getting your head chainsawed off by the guy with the bag over his head. Its such a good sequence and it left me stunned. Best Resi game!!!!

This game rocks... The villagers set traps on the floor and trip mines and try and crush you with big boulders when you go through canyons etcs...

 

They throw hatchets, scythes, dynamite and pitchforks at you, they climb ladders and jump gaps after you, they are hard buggers to shake of as well....

 

Also when you get the daughter the game becomes harder as the villagers become more resistant and if you favour a particular shot then when you hit em there they mutate into this weird thing that when it hits you puts you on danger straight away!

 

Its alot more straight forward then the other Resi's, with a more action based appraoch rather then shoot a little and then spend an hour trying to figure out a bugger of a puzzle... You can tune up your guns, buy new ones, find collectable money and tresure that adds depth and rewards to the game and you have to interact with Ashley in a clever way if you want to proceed...

 

It looks gorgous, it plays very fluidly with the controls and new 3D environment and it can be very scary particulary when the villagers use cover and then throw stuff at you when you can't hear or see them... Ever taken a pitchfork to the gut from nowhere before? That makes you jump...

 

And has anyone got to the lake et or fought El Gigante? Awesome fights... and tense too... the music is awesome and really helps too...

 

This is the game that Res Evil needed to bring it forward, its deserving of the 97% GM gave in my opinion... Simply for the fact that you can slice a villager across the throat and as he recoils kick his head clean off.... Now that is cool....
