are Playstation2s STILL so dear?

 

can't find a pre-owned (translation: second hand) one for less than £60!

thats dear????? i think most of the the current consoles are about that pre owned

It's dear compared to the cost of a new one in my eyes - when you can pick up a new one for £90 - £100, that seems steep for a pre-owned one.

 

Gamecubes are about £35, X-Box about £50 I think, so £70 is a bit much!

 

Damn those kids and their birthday wants!

A brand new PS2 still costs more than a brand new Xbox. May I remind you an Xbox has superior hardware. So when you buy a PS2 you have to pay more for less. You can't tell me that isn't just plain silly.

I think the one year headstart on the competition had a little to do with it, which is why 360 has a shot in the west.

I picked up an N64 for £3.99, a Gamecube for £24 and 6 games across the formats for £10 at my local Cash Generator.

The headstart the Dreamcast had didn't seem to help it much.

That's because Dreamcast was a last ditch attempt by Sega to win back a market that it had lost so badly. By appearing eighteen months ahead of ps2 and on the back of doomed hardware releases, DC's launch seemed rush, and was seen as a snack to consume between playstations- even though the ps2 turned out to be not a whole lot stronger than the dc was in the end. MS are in a far stronger market position now than Sega was in '98.

Because retailers realise that there are loads of stupid people who think PS2s are better than Gamecubes and will pay any money for them.

True Bub.....I picked up, as said before a cheap Gamecube, and Resi 4, for less than a 2nd hand PS2...the world has gone mad I tells ya.
