Pretty much what the title says. What video games do you want to be made into movies?

 

I for one am still waiting for the Metal Gear Solid Movie to show up as it's been rumoured since 2001 with countless plots and such spread over the net.

 

Another that I just wish as a Final Fantasy fanatic is that Final Fantasy 7 could be split up and made into 3 seperate movies like the original stars saga or Lord of the Ring. I don't know what it is but I've always wanted to see that story being acted. If you've played the game you'll know how good the story is. Truely a great prospect if ever done...

I'd like to see a proper Final Fantasy movie, also a Soul blade/edge/caliber movie and a Max Payne movie

Ok so their not the same but if you took the style of it and some of the basis of characters etc... Well they are bloody good comparisons of each other...

 

As for Final Fantasy.. .Well I agree, a good port of number 7 would be cool, as would a film about either the Ocarina of Time or Link To The Past... But then again Nintendo characters in films... Remember Super Mario Bros.. Yukkk

Funny I watched that with my girlfriend and some other friends at my mates house the other night and the first thing my mate Scott said was 'Is this Film based around Max Payne or something?!'

 

I think it's the whole 'I've got nothing left to live for, no family, no job, nothing' Thing. Well at least I think that's the comparison.

Grand Theft Auto.

 

GTA: Vice City was based on Scarface, which is an excellent film, so maybe a game of San Andreas would work too. I know there are a fair few film references in SA, but to make a whole new film out of the game would probably work well.

 

According to The Sun, Eminem was going to play a lead in a GTA film. This was right after 8 Mile came out, so it must of just been an idea. Good to know someone was thinking about it though.

None. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Because Hollywood and anyone associated with videogames completely and regularly fail to realise that they are two completely different forms of media. Storytelling in movies and games are dramatically different, but noone seems to quite understand that, which always leaves films dramatically different from their source material, and rubbish, or closer to a videogame experience (Tomb Raider being a prime example) and rubbish.

Games do translate slightly better into anime, though, I've heard a few good things about the FF anime and the Street Fighter one is total ownage.

I'd like to see one based on........ Frogger...

On second thought, they could do a film based on Amiga Asteroids update, Stardust. It's about a scientist who (no kidding) uses secret agents disguised as asteroids to conquer the universe. Nobody could screw that up.

I also think that Hollywood have the power to ruin any video game franchise. All it takes is one hack director like Uwe Boll who's obsessed with games to get his hands on the licence and it's all downhill from there.

 

Saying that, movie ideas that don't try to copy the exact story of the game could possibly work in the same way that a TV series making a movie will often be enjoyable. You've already got a fleshed out character that people are familiar with, and there's obviously a lot of potential if you're moving these characters into a new setting with a blank canvas.

 

The best idea I heard was a suggestion a while ago about a Metal Gear Solid prequel with Hugh Jackman as Solid Snake. It would be like Die Hard 1, but with more focus on stealth kills and Snake going unnoticed rather than EXPLODING ELEVATER SHAFTS and WELCOME TO THE PARTY PAL.

 

People wouldn't complain that the MGS storyline wasn't accurate if it's not based on something, and the fans of the series would flock to see their hero. I can't see how it'd go wrong, unless Uwe Boll shows his face.

I LOVED the FF film! :P Nearly got laid thanks to it (I turned down the fit girl...................I still wonder why).

But it wasn't a Final Fantasy film, it was just an animated film with FF as it's name

This isn't a game, well sort of if you compare it to something like WWE Day of Reckoning, but I'd love to see a serious film about pro wrestling, not a comedy like Ready 2 Rumble.

 

Film pitch.....

 

Follows a guy who wrestles on the indy circuit and he gets all call up to the big time with WWE. He's on the road, misses his wife and kids and something bad happens e.g. he gets injured, things get sour at home or he's getting heat backstage

 

Then he gets booked with JBL who shoots on him in the ring, maybe get the injury angle that way. Makes a miraculous come back at Wrestlemania

 

Just an idea, but if produced right I think it would make a great film. Many of the WWE talent are able to act, i.e Rock, HHH, Austin etc

the last final fantasy movie was very nromal..nothing orginal about it....i really wanna see something new and exciting in final fantasy movies....i hope they do the final fantasy X or X-2 in a movie.....i love it...

Bloodrayne is being made (it might be finished by now) with Kristanna Loken as the main character. (It also stars Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Michelle Rodriguez, Billy Zane and Meatloaf)

 

 

I would love to see a movie based on Beyond Good and Evil......or a movie actually about the Resident Evil series....just to hear Barry Burton go "Blood".
