The King Of The Ring tournament has returned. The announcement came at the Smackdown taping last night, and I wanted to get your thoughts on this. I personally think it's a great move for WWE to give it another shot, as it can be used to build up future stars, such as Lashley, Paul Burchill, amongst others.

EDIT: No need to use spoiler tags when the subject of the thread is a spoiler for the topic of your post already.

EDIT EDIT:- Just covering myself Fill.. Can't be too careful these days ;)

I liked the KOTR idea providing it was done properly. However the last few years it was done, it was so rushed, it was just dreadful. And the main event of the tourney, would be about fourth from the top, no drama whatsoever.

I remember one year, where every KOTR match combined, didn't even make 30 mins altogether, and thats just pointless.

If done properly with every match given say at least 10 minutes, then I'll happily champion the idea. But I won't hold my breath yet.

HA! If i dont recall a certain thread about 5 mths ago........BOOYA! Glad its back, hopefully they make it a platform for talent, but underused midcarders to excel, much like it was before really! Really pleased its back!
I liked KotR so long as it is done well and isn't totally obvious who is going to win, same with the rumble. But then it's also a good thing if they made it similar to the rumble in that the tourny winner gets a shot at a title.
Dalip's got it in the bag.
yesssssssssss i am a fan of the king in the ring tournament, great to see it back

Some questions:

1. When is this show slated in for?

2. Which PPV will it replace or will it be an entirely new one?

3. Is it planned to be a joint show or SmackDown! exclusive?

I too am a big fan of the King IN the Ring (:)) tournement and I think it's prety cool it's returning.

On one hand King Randy would be great, but I'd like to see more of a rookie win it like Lashley... or The Boogeyman!!

From what i gather at the moment its Smackdown exclusive, but i expect that to be "subject to change".

Hopefully it will take the place of GAB but thats in July and with them alreay building towards it Judgement day seems more than likely to make way.

Cheers for that MrFill!!!

They were less "GIVE ME AN ANSWER!", more "is anything rumoured" or "have a wild guess".

It's only just been announced on the SD tapings, so at this point I'd say they'll have something on the TV show this week.

WOOHOO! KOTR!

I rekon they do it so a RAW superstar V SMACKDOWN superstar, so have the knock out stage, but make it so the smackdown play smackdown so on till the final.

KOTR returning can only be seen as a good thing (as long as they push the right person).
Definately a great move by the WWE, it was a stupid idea to get rid of it at first but I understand that it was to fit more individual brand PPV's in. Still I think it's a good idea for all the young guys and the less recognised, respected and acknowledged guys.
I'm happy that they've brought the King of the Ring tournament back. They shouldn't have gotten rid of it in the first place because it's a great way to build up future stars, as SonicShadow said.
HOLY! Yes! Its been so long I forgot who won the last one...!
It might not be a Pay Per View, since they have the first match scheduled already for Smackdown next week, and only about 8 people in it. They could just have the finals at Judgment Day between Angle and Orton or something to decide who faces Rey, while Rey defends against someone like Mark Henry or Chris Benoit.

I'm glad that KOTR is returing. I think it should be a PPV for both shows but i don't see that happeing as both shows have 5 PPV's and one would have to lose one. WWE could cancel ECW this year but that would suck and that won't happen.

Hopefully Lashley could win it, he is already big time over.

Really can't see anyone but Lashley win this.
I am so glad to see King Of The Ring back again, it has been missed by many and hopefully can produce some big names like the old tournements did in the start
