Heading into WrestleMania last week, Randy Orton was on top of the world. The Legend Killer had earned a spot in the World Heavyweight Championship Match on the grandest stage of them all – an opportunity most Superstars only dream of. The next several days, however, were far from perfect for Orton.

Not only did the cocky youngster suffer the pinfall at the hands of Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania, but he was also pinned again by Mysterio just days later on SmackDown. To make matters even more humiliating, Randy Orton also learned that he was being suspended due to unprofessional conduct. Many believe that series of events can be categorized as Orton’s worst week of his young career.

Tuesday night at SmackDown from Green Bay, Randy Orton’s career unfortunately continued its downward spiral. Kurt Angle used his patented ankle lock to beat Orton in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament Tuesday night. After the match, The Wrestling Machine applied the hold several more times. As a result, Orton suffered a broken ankle.

At this time, little else is known about Orton’s injury. Be sure to check back here as more information becomes available.

This sounds like a big work.

it does indeed sound like a work, but if it isn't, thats a damn shame on the part of Orton.

Well, other than it'll keep him out for.....wait for it......60 days! Hmmm.....:D

I think it's just a way to cover Orton being out for 60 days.
Here's a question, and maybe it's obvious to bigger wrestling fans, but why make out he has a broken ankle just for him to be able to do his 60 day suspension? Not much of a punishment is it, when they work it into the story...Why not just be upfront about it and suspend him, badoom, without making an excuse for him...
I think by time Batista is champion, Randy come out and RKO him randomally in a match.
It has to be a work read the spoilers. If you had a broken ankle doubt you would be able to walk/hop on it.

Because it puts Angle and the Ankle Lock over at the same time.

And apparently Orton will be lucky to be back in 60 days. His current suspension is the bare minimum, and apparently is more like an indefinite suspension.

Poor Randy, I hope the break isn't too bad. With serious injury like that, he could be out for at least 2 months.

I've heard a similar rumour that he may even be released. I seriously doubt it, but he really does need to look at himself hard, if he's as unpopular backstage as rumours suggest he is. It'd be a shame to see someone so talented waste it through being an asswipe, though it wouldnt be the first, and i doubt it would be the last time either.

People backstage have gone as far as saying that wrestlers "dispiese" him. As you said Antihero, he needs to take a good hard look at himself if he ever wants to be respected backstage. If he does'nt, im sure this won't be his last punishment.

Yeah i guess...Just seems sometimes as if, when wrestlers are suspended for doing something wrong, they don't get totally punished as it's written into things...Maybe it's just me...*shuts up*

He took the fall in three matches in a row. He's essentially been used as a main event jobber for two weeks, and now he has an 'injury' that writes him out for as long as they want/need whilst putting someone else and their move over.

I'd say Orton hasn't benefitted a damn.

why is Orton so disliked backstage? ALso, is his real life suspension to do with he drugs thing that has recently been implanted??

hes cocky and really ott soi the rumours go to answerr the above question.

i think its a work still gutted he is suspended now its just dumb if they go on website and announce hes suspended then break his ankle to keep kayfabe

Read the thread that I linked to further up.

Maybe I've got my dunce hat on..

Whilst I almost definiteley feel the broken ankle is a work why would WWE use that as a cover story for his suspension but then in the same article/report whatever a few lines up type that he's to be suspended? Doesn't make sense to me.

Thats kinda what i said...But differently...

Are they going to announce Ortons suspension on-screen then? If not and they are using the broken Ankle explanation it seems rather odd and pointless to make his suspension known and especially via WWE.com. The only people that needed to know about it were really the other workers. We didn’t

Well of course its a work, as it says Angle broke his foot in the ankle lock, so its obvious. Thats whats it says though, have to wait till firday to watch it.
