There we go-I don't need to learn anything else??

I'm always hesitant of posting in some threads incase my opinion is laughed at... Therefore I run it by DC first-he has uses!

Russ is joking there :P none of that happened

Just read some of the threads and see waht you can pick up, chances are with this thread people know your new to this so will won't call you dumb.. unless you challenge their point of view

Everyone needs to remember that they were a mark at times... this kind of stuff really used to piss me off back in the day when you had the super-snobby-Puro-smarts looking down their noses at anyone who didn't know who Kobashi and Muta were.

Angered me so much, I actually wrote a column about it, back in the day when I used to do stuff and not just lounge about the forums ;)

you'll be telling us that wrestling is a work and that The Dudleys aren't really brothers:P .....

But Joel gertner was a cousin, right? RIGHT???

Nah, your not dumb or ignorant just because you don't know something, I've been a wrestling fan since 1992 & theres loads of stuff I have no idea about & I often make mistakes about stuff.

It's just a case of knowing what you know & learning new stuff, like anything you take an intrest in, it's impossible to be an expert overnight.

I wouldnt worry, enjoy wrestling in YOUR own way, whether you know everything or not, enjoy it for what it is, the Internet has ruined the wrestling industry big time, and its full of idiots who know best, and always will, you can work first hand for the WWE and people will still say they know more than you, thats why TWO is so great, its one of the few community sites where everyone is fair, and is always on hand to answer a question.

No-one is born with wrestling knowledge, it's something everyone on here has picked up, so I'm sure no-one thinks you're ignorant because of it.

The best way to learn about the business, is to watch it. It's so easy to buy shows at an extremely low price, thanks to traders, so that is te best way learn. To have a problem finding shows, you have to go back to the mid 70's. Almost everything from that point on, is available. I recently bought a load of WWF, from 1984-1987, and even though the product is pretty bad, it picks up a hell of a lot in '86/'87 though, the amount of things you learn, is incredible. If you wander around http://www.ObsessedWithWrestling.com and various Wikipedia pages, you will find a lot of things out, but it's not even close to watching the product yourself. An easier way, and obviously cheaper, is to download. There is a lot less choice of classic wrestling, but if you need a PPV, an indy show, a WWE/TNA DVD or anything like that, it's so easy to find.

For 'behind the scenes', I can't recommend the Wrestling Obsever Newsletter enough. It has a great article every issue, plenty of backstage news from all over the world, results and so on. The classic issues are by far the best though. Eddie Guerrero's and Lou Thesz's obituaries are definetly worh a read, as are the WWF vs WCW, and WCW's demise copies. You won't find better information than in WON, and if you buy, say, Powerslam, montly, it's by far a better deal aswell.

(Auto)biographies are always packed with information aswell. Like pretty much everyone who has read it will confirm, Mick Foley's first (Have A Nice Day : A Tale Of Blood And Sweatsocks I thik it's called). Dynamite Kid's 'Pure Dynamite' is a must aswell. Pretty much every one I've read, has been useful though. Every one I have read has interested me though.

Other wrestling books, like WrestleCrap, or Top 100 Wrestlers (Or something like that), which is a sh*t list, but informative, are definetly worth a look.

And of course, just looking around here, you will find a lot of new things out. TWO has a lot of great members, and just a look at some of their posts, will help you along very well.

So Nimf I'm sure by now you know that you should feel comfortable learning from the good people here instead of approaching them with hessitation... but not me... I don't know what the hell I'm talking about.

I'd just like to take this time to bring up the fact that I knew jack $#@+ about anything beyond markism before I came here. And in fact before I started frequenting TWO I hadn't watched any wrestling at all sine the attitude era. And look at me now! I'm a bonefide smark ( :P ) ... I mean I still don't know who headlined WM 14, or any other wrestling history, or how many titles HBK has vacated... ... ... Hey! What good are you guys anyways!?

I was very ignorant when I first joined the boards. The learning process was part just watching over time, part going out and finding information/matches, and part just simply asking about things I didnt have a clue about. I know I wasnt made to feel like an idiot. Just ask. :xyx

The only people who are ignorant are those who dont take into account other peoples feelings or level of knowledge. Those arent smarks are whatever, they're just arses! Nimf, you're doing fine, nobody can be expected to simply, "know everything", thats not how it works. hell, i thought i knew a lot when i arrived. I was wrong frankly. I know nothing, but hell, its been fun learning..... Edited by MojoPogo
