The Metal Gear Solid series continues it's reputation of delivering cinematic cutscenes, engaging storylines and likeable characters which means that it's popularity continues to increase as well.

My favourite villain is Liquid Snake because he is the twin brother of Solid Snake and is obsessed with achieving what his father, the late big boss failed to do which is bring chaos and honor back to a world gone soft.

He is a persistent villain who Solid Snake battles several times in Shadow Moses and when you think Liquid has died he'll re-appear even more determined to bring about your annihilation.

Which game is your favourite and what makes it truly special in your eyes ?

Which character do you like the most and why do they stand out in your eyes ?

Imo Sons Of Liberty was way too easy the only hard bit was finding the bombs

It depends what difficulty you play the game on but the main problem with certain games is that when you find the right tactics for them you're pretty much set.

Snake Eater was good, as it was slightly different and therefore a challenge.

The first one is still a classic though, still playable even now.

To be honest I actually liked Raiden, DONT SHOOT, I thought it was nn interesting angle by having people play as him, and in my opinion it worked.

Obviously the majority thought otherwise, thus his exclusion from Snake Eater.

Dont worry, he's back in MGS 4. Not playable though......yet.

I've always loved the MGS Series. I remember playing the first one round a mates and it got me hooked, I still class that as one of the best PS1 games ever.

Then MGS 2 was decent aswell, I couldn't find how to get inside the ship at first though but when it got rolling it was awesome. The most bizzare scene on a PS2 game ever was in this game at the end: Fission Mailed. I went crazy at this.

Snake Eater was brilliant. All of the MGS games make me jump when you get found because of the vibration but cause there was no radar I ****ed myself everytime someone found me hiding. But the outfits and new editions of bosses in this game made it unique from the others.

I know just what you mean on both accounts!!

Firstly back on MGS2, I actually turned the game off when it started doing that funny game over thing. I thought i'd actually died so I switched the PS2 off. It was only at the second time of tryig that I realised thinigs were still going.

I wondered whether my playstation was cracking up!

Then on MGS3, without any radar to help you see, each time it jolted into alert mode, I too would hit the ceiling.

"Ahhh shi....you stupid bas...."

That's how it would go, it was bad enough being spotted on the earlier games, as that alone sent a rush of adrenaline through my system, but then without a radar! Bah gawd me poor old heart!

Metal Gear Solid is truly one of the greatest games of all time.

MGS2 is awful, really and truly awful. I dont know what Hideo was thinking. Quite frankly I just ignore it now. The first MGS, is my second all time favourite game behind FFVII, the cinematic quality was unparralelled, amazing stuff. Then that disaster of a sequel happened, Patriots? Aresnal Gear? Solidus Snake? No, Hideo come up with some fricken new ideas. Which he did, and was it ever a return to form. Snake Eater was phenomenal, truly special, original and engrossing. The second was a bad carbon copy of the first but the third redeemed the series and then some.

The worst thing was, that Ocelot actully told you that it was a re-incarnation of the Shadow moses incident which really rubbed salt into the wound, although i did actully enjoy Sons of Liberty to some extent.

My favorite Metal Gear villian is the snake eater incarnation of Ocelot, he's just great, his whole cocky attitude and over all persistance.

I love Metal Gear, and it is one thing thats stopping investing into a 360 at the moment. I've told myself i'm only allowed one from a 360 or PS3.

Sixsidesofsteel got me hooked on mgs and now i have completed,2(sons of liberty and substance and 3 all on the euopeon extreme mode.

and number 1 i have completed multaple times but not seen the end bit as you can not do it on ps2

Psycho mantis is well cool

Use your spell checker mate.
I remember when the first MGS came out - I beat the torture REALLY easily. I had to play it a second time straight through just so I could fail it and get the other "starting item".
Beating the torture was easy, figuring out how to escape was the tough one. I ate the ketchup the first time around!!!

you can beat the torture Two ways: The easy is not too, you don't actually have to. However this alters the storyline in a bad way.

As for escaping? That was a puzzler all right, it took me a while to figure that one out.

If you didn't beat the torture then it gave you a different starting item to begin the game with.
But if you gave up during the torture Meryl died so what motivation was there to not give up ? :D
Metal gear is one of the best games out there nothing can beat it
Metal gear is one of the best games out there nothing can beat it

And after that sweeping statement.

GT4 is a better driving simulator that Metal Gear, which means it beats it in that category.

Halo is a better multi-player first person shooter, which means it beats it in that category.

Mario Kart is a better kart driving game, which means it beats it in that category.

I could continue, but I think I've been silly enough. :D

I do enjoy playing the Metal Gear series, although I would also complain that the latter two were far too easy to beat.
