Tomorrow I am going to trade in my PSP with games and buy a 360. The only thing i know currently is that i'm going to buy a premium console with the single wireless controller.

Basically what else do i need with it in terms of accessories? Any that are absolutely necessary and some that are just good to have?

And i'm going to get three games. So what would people say are the top 3 to get. I'm not that fussed on sports games, though i do like racing games. Don't like fantasy but do like FPS. With that in mind are there any suggestions?

I've got about 300 to spend plus what i get for my psp so fire away with any suggestions!

Also any info on the Xbox live malarky would be appreciated!

Well buddy let me see,

Xbox live is a must for online gaming as is the headset.

Games,

Gears Of War

Oblivion

Tiger Woods

SmackDown

Lost Planet

Crackdown

Call Of Duty 3

Xbox live is a media centre really.

You can download games on it,talk to friends, play music etc.......

The Best think about XBOX live is how easy it is to use, just set up an account and away you go.

Online gamming is the jewel is the 360,it's just superb

What kind of games are oblivion, lost planet and crackdown?

Don't think Tiger woods and Smackdown are for me, im not really keen on games liek that. Thanks for the info about the live bit though!

Popsi, get a play and charge kit. It's about £14. Basically, you get a little battery pack thingy and a charging cable. You replace the existing battery part for this pack and when your controller runs low on power, you just connect the cable to the controller and into the USB port in the front of the xbox and it recharges your controller. Essential money saver in the long term.

A headset is a must for xbox live, if you want to join in the chatter anyway. Personally, I'm not keen on the wireless ones because now and then you hear a strange noise coming from those who are wearing one in a game. Good old fashioned wired one for me.

A wireless adapter for the 360 is good, but not essential. I think these retail at about £60. Obviously you don't need one, but it is nice not to have a wire trailing across the floor, but that all depends on where you're set up.

HDTV! :P You can play without one, but when you play with one, you will never go back! :lol

As for games, Gears Of War is good for online play. I'd personally go for some of the older ones now, like Hitman Blood Money. Great fun (no live with this though), and they will be a lot cheaper so you can get more than three! :D

Oblivion is an advanced RPG

I havent played the other 2 to be honest bit everyone seems to think that they are good.

Action titles really but good fun.

Gears Of War is a must buy though.

CoD3 is a must buy in my opinion, just for online.

You'll get a headset with the console, so that's one thing to cross off your list. You also get an ethernet cable. If you don't want to put your LIVE on your credit/debit card, you may want to purchase a 12 month GOLD account in a shop. It's just a bit of card with a code you enter rather than your credit details.

Tony Hawk Project 8 and Burnout Revenge are my two favourite 360 games.

I'd also suggest Viva Pinata (which is kinda a Sims/Animal Crossing/Populus hybrid)

Lost Planet (3rd person shooter)

Crackdown (A cross between GTA and Super Mario)

Gears of War (Shooter)

Condemed (1st person horror and gore)

Prey (1st person shooter)

Dead Rising (Pretty much a video game version of Dawn of the Dead although I'd like to make it clear that Dead Rising has nothing whatsoever to do with the film Dawn of the Dead and any similarities are purely coincidental......[/CAPCOM]

There's loads of games on the Xbox Arcade too, and you get to try before you buy.

Oh im so pleased there's a Tony Hawks game, probably one of my favourite games ever on my old playstation.

Sounds like some good games are out at the moment. Are there any in the future i should keep an eye out for?

Why would you want to sell your PSP :(?

After downgrading my firmware and getting the ability to play ANY PS1 game on it, I haven't put it down.

Screw XBOX - Crash Team Racing FTW~!

Make sure you get the pack with a hard drive, I've got a core system still and it'd be a bit of a pain in the ass if I wanted to play online.

Best three games I've had for 360 so far are Condemned, Dead Rising and Hitman : Blood Money. Prey and Gears Of War are worth a look if those three don't tickle your fancy. I wouldn't bother with Oblivion or Lost Planet myself.

I'm selling my PSP as i just don't use it enough. I don't know why but i don't and i've always made more use of a console than a handheld. Plus I can kick my brother's arse and then brag that he got beat by a girl.

I wasn't sure if you'd be a Hawk fan or not. Some people class them as 'Sports' games, but I don't see them like that. Project 8 is such an amazing game, a proper next-gen update for the Tony Hawk series. Some of the new stuff is a bit tricky at first, but once you've sussed it out, you won't put it down for ages.

I don't tend to put them in the sports bracket either. I don't really know why but it just doesn't seem to fit in, maybe as particularly the newer ones have more of a story to them. Cracking that'll be one of my purchases for sure then! Cheers Wyndorf and everyone else!
If you like Poker, and who doesn't download the Poker game. Also download Worms and Uno as well. These games use points which you buy in a shop or online via a CC. Most of them cost about 800 points, roughly about €8.

plus when the XBOX 360 Elite(Black 360) lands over here you will be able to download movies, music videos and TV shows(Eastenders in HD woop woop)

the 360 is an amazing console. i suggest GUITAR HERO 2, its the daddy of all games, you'll never out your guitar down.

and next month you will be able to use MSN messenger on your 360 so you definitely have to get xbox live. just plug in an ethernet cable into the back, simple as

I've recently invested in a plug and play kit.

Cost £15 but will more than make up for the cost with not having to get batteries.

Well i brought the beast. Went to Gamestation and traded in my psp for it. Got the premium console with Gears of War, Ghost Recon 2 and Crackdown for 299. Then got an extra wired controller, plug and charge kit and Tony Hawks 8 on top which came to 359. Minus the 100 i got for my PSP and i got all that for a lovely price of 259!

So got it home, plugged it all in and used the snazzy function of opeing the disk drive using the controller and put in Gears of War. Had a blast on that (amazing graphics btw) and decided to try Tony Hawks 8.

At which point i discovered my disk drive button is brokenand i cant eject my game. So it's going back tomorrow with the broken button and Gears of War in it :( :( How gutted am i!

What a kick in the nuts, sorry man.
Thank you. I'm so bloody annoyed. And I'm a girl! :D
You don't need to press the button, if the console is still on there is an auto eject feature. If the drive still works and it is only the button broke you could play it tonight.
Where is the auto eject feature? Cos whenever i go to try it on the dashboard it just says play game.
