I'm looking forward to it quite a bit, I've tried not to read too much about it because I don't want to spoil it but from what I've seen it looks like it could be the one to watch this Christmas.
Ive seen the demo of it on youtube and i must says this game looks fantastic one of the best interactive games ive seen graphics look top notch ill think ill buy it.

It's sounding increasingly enticing and definitely the next step on from the TR/PoP style type of game, applying Thief 3 and GTA style gameplay elements. But I do hope (as inevitably will be the case) that they don't claim this sort of free-roaming/free-climbing spiel is some sort of new invention. With so many getting caught up with Jade Redmond's looks rather than what she is actually bringing to the project I have my doubts. Not that it would be a huge knock, it's only a minor qualm; it's just a shame when things are proclaimed the new black, when the black has already done the rounds a few times to less acclaim.

I very recently played PS2 Shinobido, essentially Tenchu evolved. Compared to AC it has obviously vastly inferior graphics and animation of course, very limited NPC numbers and no continuous world, with smaller self-contained levels. But importantly within those levels everything is totally free-roaming, everywhere with an edge is climbable or accessible on way or another.

Destructible screens and partition doors too, allowing assassination through them. Throwable, carryable and moveable objects, allowing guard distraction. Evolving guard AI also; if you use the same techniques too often they 'learn' to ignore it, become suspicious, lay their own traps and will often pursue you with surprising tenacity. We haven't heard about anything as sophisticated as that from AC's AI as of yet, and really it will be that sort of thing that is going to be a much more significant measure of just how good the game really is. Setting the men amongst the boys and all that jazz.

One other thing that is really put me off was the reveal (if it turns out to be true) a while ago now, but I'll wrap it in spoiler tags to save those that may have still avoided it.

At the end of one of the trailers a while ago now, after a death a woman in a lab coat and some computer code was revealed, showing a sci-fi twist. Revealed by one of the voice actors on the game as some sort of plot involving searching for a descendant of an Assassin...alot more spiel can be found around the web. Of course we'll have to wait until we actually play it to really judge, but I personally was looking forward to the medieval side of matters as a shy away from a sci-fi cramped market. We'll see.

I don't read it myself, but if you subscribe to FHM (UK) here, they are offering AC for free with a 12 month subscription for £38 quid.

IGNs Xbox 360 review.

Didn't do too great..

Assassins Creed Review

I think a trip to blockbusters will be in order to rent it and if i enjoy myself then i might get it, however IGN's review was not that great
I've thought it looked pretty good. But those reviews atlk about some really bad mistakes. Like that strange computer code that looks like it surrounds anyone you target. But the climbing, free running, and actual assassinations seem cool. So yeah, seems like a rental.

Gamespot have given it a very nice score.

Clicky

From the footage I saw I got the feeling it would be a bit flawed
Having got the game today and played for several hours I'd say the IGN review is rubbish. I've not seen any texture glitches, the story is strong though it could be a marmite thing and though the combat is easy the AI isn't stupid. Excellent Game, the 9 from Gamespot is the one to pay attention to.
And once again the whole "try it before you buy it" situation comes up! Reviews are a matter of personal taste, no reviewer is completely unbiased. I say give it a whirl. The demo's ace i must say.

My brother in law completed this in less then 35 hours though he still had bits of DNA thingy to find.

Shut up you! Having actually played it in Gamestop today, yikes, what graphics. Couldnt stay on it for long as the shop was packed and people kept bumping into me, but it left an impression.
