From Wrestling 101:

Howdy folks for another edition of the Iron Jung. In my last column I focused on Chris Jericho. Literally days after I highlighted my love for his will he/won’t he approach to being a heel, they pulled the trigger on his heel turn. In a way I was very frustrated, as I felt there was significant mileage to be given to drawing out Jericho’s dilemma. However it was clearly inevitable that he would turn heel sooner, rather than later. Because that’s the thing with the WWE. Patience, in the last few years, has never been one of their strong points...

If Punk truly wants to stand out and WWE want to see if he does have the potential to be a major player in years to come, a heel turn has to be given a go.

I agree with this personally, i mean we saw him turn heel (very briefly) last year when he went with the New Breed, but it was poorly booked really, also a combination of some of the New Breed and Originals leaving/getting injured hurt that. I do believe that he could do well as a heel but it has to be booked well.

On the MVP point, he, as you pointed out, has proven himself in the ring and on the mic, but yeah he probably does need something like an entourage and/or an agent. But the main point should be to get him more wins in the ring which will make it better (he's not won on PPV for 11 months). I was persoanlly suprised he wasnt drafted, but looking at it now he wouldnt have benefitted because, although Triple H has gone to Smackdown, he would still have had John Cena, Randy Orton and Batista to get past.

Matt Hardy going to ECW, well it could work well if, like i mentioned with the Punk heel turn point, its booked right. Like his feud with MVP was, we had a good combination there of good matches and good comedy skits, and we know he can work. Him with the United States Championship.....well he needs the right opponent to give that Title the exposure it deseves. The match (and hopefully feud) with Chavo will hopefully be the start to this.

Good article :xyx

Have you ever seen Punk's RoH work ?

There was how you book him as a heel easily. His simple "I'm better than you" mentality and extremist/militant lifestyle helped to easily create a person who got up your back with little effort.

Ahhh, bring it back says I.

Um, Matt hardy needs more time? He debuted in 1994. He should be headlineing the ppvs already. WWE sucks at building up stars right now that's the reason cuz they wait.

The standard WWE fans would get confused and think he was in a feud with MVP.

That's why it's VERY important to have them on different shows.

Don't you know, WWE fans don't watch Raw AND Smackdown because, you see, that'd be like supporting Rangers and Celtic.... just crazy ! They support one show and hate the other with a passion !

Ask Vince, he'll tell you.

The problem with Matt Hardy is the fact he's pretty rubbish and is a big whiny girl who couldn't main event if HHH, Undertaker, Edge, Cena, Orton, Batista, MVP, Kennedy, Funaki and anyone else who matters lost their legs and could never wrestle again !

How is Matt Hardy a whiny girl?

And why is he pretty rubbish?
It was a good article pretty much spot on.

Great Article, agree with pretty much everything.

On a side note, I'd like JobberJoe to explain his criticisms of Matt hardy.

How is Matt Hardy a whiny girl?

That's a friendly shot at his complaining over the whole Edge situation.

It was a slight joke with me using my pure bias against him as the stepping stone towards my wording y'see.

And why is he pretty rubbish?

That's just my plain opinion.

It wasn't meant to come over as 'oh my gawd, stop putting over your opinion as fact !!!1!!1111!'

Just an extention on the whiny comment.

However since you asked I find him ridiculously boring, his match style doesn't entertain me and I feel that Rey Mysterio has more charisma than him.

People can claim all they want about him but whenever I watch one of his matches I just feel like he's going through the same routine again and again.

I won't lie, I enjoyed his MVP fued... Why's that we ask ? MVP, that's why.

I'm not a huge fan of the Hardys generally to be fair, so I'm sure there's a long running hatred that maybe clouds my judgement or something.

And I do apologise to ScottyB and hope this suffices. Please ask if more's necessary !

I didn't realise you and Matt Hardy were friends. ;)

On a similar note; don't you think he was entitled to whine about the Edge/Lita situation?

Ach, it goes backwards and forwards for me.

I completely understand why he did it and probably my biggest issue starts when he went back to WWE and worked with Edge to make money from it.

Then you could argue that it was a private matter and so should've been sorted within the WWE as I'm sure he's been around long enough to understand what the company policy in such situations (I'm not saying affairs specifically but incidents within the roster or whatever generally) is.

I can completely realise why he did go back to WWE, and bravo to him for having the ability to put money before anything else.

But, I do realise that my stance is arguable... some would claim they respect him MORE for being able to put things behind him and actually think in the bigger picture about his career.

------

I do change fairly often on the whole matter and it just happened I was in the mood for taking a sly wee dig which was, more than anything, built on my in-ring hatred of poor Matt.

In speaking of guys who are sort of, potential, maybe, should be headliners of the future, a name which has disappeared almost completely is Mr Kennedy. In the same boat as MVP, we thought they'd be main event within a few years, and on the contrary have completely stagnated. Shame how much the gloss has worn off when they're wasted.

I was gonna mention Kennedy but well they've not really done anything with him for ages.

I've never once thought "right he's gonna get a main event push now"

Where as with Matt and MVP, I thought they may rise due to their feud, or at least Matt would upon his return and MVP after dropping the belt. Plus with Punk, with the MITB, it looks like they have big plans for him at some point. Kennedy although he's very popular, they haven't done anything meaningful with him for a while, same with Umaga.

Not even when Kennedy won MITB?
