With the exception of MG2 on the MSX- I've played all MG games (I think)

The first metal gear solid game I played was Snake's Revenge for the NES- it was ok but being abt 7 years old I was crap at it and didn't enjoy it much.

Fast forward to whenever and I buy a PS for myself and I the official PS magazine which has a MGS demo- I play it and BAM! I want more. "This game looks freaking awesome" I say to myself also the video demo is one of the best in the world (still to this day IMO)- mainly thanks to the awesome music.

Needless to say when I got the game I was f'ing hooked on it for ages. There are so many great moments in the game- getting the stealth suit (which helps add longevity coincidentally) even though it was useless against bosses (but that's where the bandanna came in handy. facing psycho mantis- man that boss can either be very hard or very easy, when you see ninja for the first time, the storyline, using the binoculars to see sniper wolf's cleavage :D. I never worried about trying to get the best ranking as that would have taken me too long. the only weakness of the game was it was a bit short... but then maybe if it was made any longer it would have been not so good.

Oh and seeing Maryl (sp!) in her pants is awesome :D

I give it

Graphics- 10/10

Music- 8/10

Playability- 10/10

Longevity- 7/10

Replaybilty- 8.5/10

Overall- 10/10 - truly one of the greatest games around

Now unto MGS2...

In the tinniest of corners are minds were thinking "can't wait for the sequel"...even if we weren't aware of it. Fast forward to whenever and Konami presents us with some screenshots. Okay so they look a bit mucky and unclear but hey! It's the early stages and soon we will get to play the sequel to (one of the greatest games in the world) so there we are getting excited...then Konami announce that the game will be divided into two sections- one on a tanker where you play as Snake and the other on a oil rig where you play as Raiden. Well that's great...wait a minute- who? Well I'm sure the whole MGS fans moaned in unison when they saw Raiden "he looks like a girl" and "what'd mean we don't get to play as Solid Snake all the way though out the game"- despite this we still wanted the game very very badly.

We finally got the game and one thing blew us away immediately- the graphics. Holy crap "this looks sweet (it gets better when you get to the oil rig). We played as snake breezing though the tanker (admit it- you lot had a smug face when you snapped the neck of the first enemy you came across), shrieking in horror when we saw that Olga has hairy armpits, getting some dog tags on the way and sneaking past a briefing session (note: the stealth suit isn't quite so effective as you can still get caught while invisible !!!) and then seeing possibly the coolest guy in the game- Relvover Occelot and then... it's over- no more snake and say hello to (the wig wearing Raiden). To be honest he isn't too bad to play as. We were introduced to a manner of freaks (a vampire anyone!) and the weirdest storyline since the bible.

Getting the dog tags was cool (even if it got repetitive) and the cut scenes were awesome (even if it did disrupt the game flow)

I've always called MGS 2- the best film in the world, play it and you'll see why- it's more like a film then a game.

Therefore we conclude that MGS2 is a worthy sequel (if it's better the MGS is arguable) and is 70% film 30% game.

Graphics- 10/10

Music- 9/10

Playability- 10/10

Longevity- 8/10

Re-playability- 10/10

Overall- 10/10

..man that was long...a bit too long..oh well :D

yeah, i think its great too.....

I 100% agree with u.

I`m gonna do another review on it soon. Plus tips!!

My only disagreement with u on MGS 1, is that its the best console game ever made in my view!!

Thanks/ ChrisfromBirtley

I'd give Metal Gear Solid 1:

Graphics - 8/10

Sound - 7/10

Gameplay - 9/10

Story - 9/10

Lifespan - 8.5/10

Overall - 9/10

Metal Gear Solid 2:

Graphics - 10/10

Sound - 8/10

Gameplay - 9/10

Story - 7/10

Lifespan - 10/10

Overall - 9.5/10

So overall I think MGS 2 was better overall, although the story wa far better on the first.

Does anyone know how to get past the Torture section, of MGS 1, by NOT submitting, I`ve tried resisting it, but, ooohhhhhh.

Can u use Auto fire?

Please help.

Thanks/ CFB

*use a battery or a pen and keep rubbing it on whatever button you need to press

*use a bouncy ball instead of your thumb/finger

*get someone stronger

*cheat (use a action replay to get the bandanna)

*just give up- your too weak, nobody plays MGS so lets go...you can always lie and brag about how cool the badanna is to your friends despite the fact they won't give a damn anymore :D

They're both brilliant games but I find the stories quite confusing. Could someone please explain it all to me?:D
oh my god i remember doing the torture bit ages ago, its simple......
So could someone please explain the MGS 1 and 2 stories or tell me where to find them?

It`s ok guys, I eventually done it with an auto fire controller. lol.

Thanks 4 da tips though!
