Hey,

Which song do you find to be most inspirational to you? Which lifts your spirits when you are feeling low etc?

This should be an interesting thread as everyone has their different musical interests.

Cheers.

Umm, good topic. It's stange - my most inspirational songs are often fairly sombre, depressing efforts. Anyway my most inspiring songs are:

With or Without You - U2

One - U2

Creep - Radiohead

Live Forever - Oasis

Those songs are awesome and I defy anyone to say they are crap.

Very good topic indeed, all of the following just seem to have a wonderful quality that hits in the right place every time I hear them and really lifts my spirits.

Desperado - The Eagles

Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd

A Touch Away - Deep Purple

Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Father & Son - Cat Stevens

Wind In The Willows - Blackmores Night (Jung will be shaking his head in disgust if he reads this)

Highway Star - Deep Purple

Tuesday's Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Peace Train - Cat Stevens

I Feel Free - Cream

Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming - Deep Purple

White Room - Cream

There are many, many more, (too much to list), with a similar ability to inspire but the subject matter leaves a nasty aftertaste, so to speak, I'm only listing the "happy" songs..

Hmm... tough topic this one as I think that different songs inspire you in different ways depending on what mood takes you. So I'll split them into emotional categories (if there's a long-winded way to do something I'll find it!):

'Feel good' or 'nostalgia' songs:

Status Quo - Caroline

Status Quo - Whatever You Want

Status Quo - Rockin' All Over The World

Boston - More Than A Feeling

Van Halen - Jump

Def Leppard - Animal

Def Leppard - Let's Get Rocked

Guns 'N' Roses - Sweet Child O Mine

Guns 'N' Roses - November Rain

AC/DC - You Shook Me All Night Long

AC/DC - Heatseeker

The Proclaimers - I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)

The Proclaimers - Letter From America

The Proclaimers - The Joyful Kilmarnock Blues

The Proclaimers - Cap In Hand

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell

Meat Loaf - Dead Ringer For Love

Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run

David Bowie - Sound And Vision

Motörhead - Ace Of Spades

Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone

'Guitar genius' songs:

Joe Satriani - Flying In A Blue Dream

Van Halen - Eruption

AC/DC - Thunderstruck

Thin Lizzy - Waiting For An Alibi

Iron Maiden - The Trooper

Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Queen - One Vision

Dire Straits - Sultans Of Swing

David Lee Roth - Hot Dog And A Shake (Steve Vai is awesome on that, he's done other stuff but for nostalgia as well I have to say that tune)

'Darker mood' songs:

Thin Lizzy - Don't Believe A Word

Led Zeppelin - Since I've Been Loving You

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song

Black Sabbath - Iron Man

Status Quo - Backwater

Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast

Motörhead - Over The Top

AC/DC - Back In Black

AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie

That's enough for now, there are more but I won't go on, it is hard to pinpoint one particularly inspirational song but out of them all I'd probably go for Thunderstruck by AC/DC or Caroline by the Quo, they are awesome tunes. :xyx

Wait a minute how can any of us forget the live version Iron Maiden released of The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner? Not only a great tune but also the only song where I've been able to press play on the CD player to start it then put some pasta in the oven, have a near ten minute conversation with my mate, go for a crap, come back to see how the pasta's doing and it's STILL playing! Anyone else have any tunes like that where you still love them but acknowledge that some people can grow beards quicker than the duration of the song?!
