So what are ye looking forward to next year, for me the Xbox 720 is due for release in December and such games as the new Bioshock and Gears of War, also GTA V, while not really a fan of the GTA games you never know this could be a belter.

 

So what are ye looking forward to?

I'm kinda gutted about the X-Box 760. I just really can't be bothered to get a brand new games console for however many millions of dollars it's going to cost. I'm a happy little ludite with my 360.

 

GTA V is probably highest up on my wish list right now, I always really enjoy the GTA games.

Bioshock is my most anticipated game for sure. As for the 720, until it can be flashed/chipped/modded/whatever, I'm not interested. There is plenty of life left in the 360.

LAST GUARDIAN!! Goddamnit Team Ico, I demand you finish fannying around and finally release Last Guardian next year. It's the only real reason I own a PS3, and they still haven't released the bloody thing!!

 

Tomb Raider's looking kinda great from the videos and stuff I've seen. I reckon that might be worth a play. And The Last Of Us. That one's got my interest suitably piqued.

 

Totally not bothered about new consoles though. They only release a better version that fixes the inevitable teething problems 18 months down the line anyways, so I'm purposely gonna hold out as long as possible this time. Like folks have already said, there's still legs in the PS3 and 360 yet.

little 2013 update

 

For those gamers who are anxious for the next-generation of consoles to come out, you are in for a treat because a lot more information on both the Xbox 720 and the Playstation 4 has become available.

 

Gaming Bolt reported yesterday, Dec. 2, that a source close to those working on the Xbox 720 and the Playstation 4 revealed some major details about the next-generation consoles.

 

One of the first pieces of information is that the new Sony console won’t be called the Playstation 4. It is currently going by the code name Orbis, but Sony has chosen a name for the console that reflects on the direction they want in regards to the next generation console.

 

"Sony is near the middle end part of their Project Orbis, their next generation PS4. It will not be called Playstation 4, [as] teams have started to call the final name as Omni. Omni will reflect their new hardware and content delivery philosophy.”

 

The source also had this to say about the new Playstation, "Omni will be 'very capable' of [displaying] modern day graphics compared to a Direct X 11 level of technology like Unreal Engine 4 and Frostbite 2. Compared to Wii U, it is better, but not the biggest leap in the world according to developer friends of mine.

 

"The new controllers, whether it’s the Duo-Moves or the Classic DuoShock, will have pulse sensors in the grips for biofeedback gameplay. Plans are a Basic Unit with 160 gigs and just the system with controller at $350-$399 and one with the Omniviewer and a pack-in game for $450-$499. Aims are for a September 2013 launch.”

 

For Microsoft, it seems that the Xbox 720 will have double the power that the Wii U and Omni possess.

 

"[Xbox 720 is] slated to be the most powerful out of all the next-gen consoles. [it will be] about 4 to 6 times more powerful than Wii U and 2 to 3 times more powerful than Playstation Omni. The project has gone through many name iterations and will not be decided on until shortly before it’s E3 unveiling.

 

"They are thinking of 'soft launching' it Holiday November 2013 and then have a full blow out in the summer. All units will come with Kinect 2 built in which can track up to four people, all objects in the living room, clothing, face structure and fingers. It can also understand different voices and has its own PPU.

 

"The system is going to be very expensive in the $499 range so Microsoft is planning on using a remodeled Xbox Live (Possibly renamed X-Box Life) [and will] offer a Pro (Gold) subscription [with a] two or three-year contract to sell with the unit at $300 – $399.”

 

The source’s reports show that there are many first party and third party games in the works for both systems. However, it is important to note that for the time being it is all just rumor and speculation.
