Do any of you subscribe to any Youtube channels belonging to any 'Youtube stars'? Or better yet, do any of you have one of your own?

I've noticed my nephews follow a few silly ones and it's got me intrigued when looking at some of the numbers. For instance WWE has 2.6 million subscribers but then you have someone like PewDiePie who over has 21 million!

In the UK, you have the likes of Jacksgap with over 3 million subscribers:

There is also charlieissocoollike with over 2 million subscribers

They even have their own convention, 'Vid-Con' which attracts thousands of fans and seems to be growing. There was an article on Variety stating how Vid-Con 'could grow to eclipse Comic-Con in terms of its impact on popular culture and that increasingly important intersection between creator and consumer.'

I just find it fascinating that there are people out there making a living from posting these videos that have millions of people following them and knowing what they get up to etc. Someone like PewDiePie has reportedly made millions of dollars just from his Youtube channel alone!

I think the only YouTubey sort of thing I really, really like is Jake & Amir, which is technically part of CollegeHumor, but their website's a nightmare. Jenna Marbles has her moments too, she's about as close to a vlogger as I can stomach.

Oh, and EpicMealTime is mindlessly funny too.

To add to what Kam said about professional YouTubers, the money is crazier than you think. From YouTube views alone (no sponsorships, merchandise, T.V. work, none of that), there's about 30-50 self-made millionaires. Just out of the people mentioned so far, EpicMealTime have made over $1million, College Humor, who don't even use YouTube as their primary income source (they have their own website) have made over $3million, Jenna Marbles has made an estimated $4.3million, and Pewdiepie is thought to have made over $6million.

Mine. It's sh*t.

And the Queen of Internet Catie Wayne

Second. Bow to the Queen.

The only super popular youtuber I follow on the regular is Tobuscus. He's a total sell and straight pg now out but I've been a fan forever and he still makes me laugh.

I follow a lot of let's players, most of the mindcrack guys, rooster teeth, the Creatures and various others like the always funny Vicious Prism(don't forget that fiver you owe me) and our own Rudie and Shao.

All in all I think I sub to like 200 youtube channels.

I watch hours of youtube videos daily.

I discovered Charliissocoollike almost 5 years ago now, both he and Alex Day are members of Chameleon Circuit so sort of just stumbled upon them whilst looking at Doctor Who videos. They eventually ended up moving in with each other despite pretty much being chalk and cheese. Charlie is a nicey nice sort of lad who girls would love to take home to their mums who will then in turn instantly fall in love with them. Alex on the other hand constantly shills his stuff says **** a lot and is quite clearly in it to make has much money as he can. Charlie never shys away from the fact that this is how he makes his living but doesn't make it as obvious.

It was through those 2 that I discovered John and Hank Green. These 2 have created a mini empire. Their channel Vlogbrothers was started as a way for them both communicate with each other but has become more of a current affairs channel in the main part, they also founded VidCon which Kam mentioned above. John himself was already a published author when he started on Youtube but with his new found internet audience his publishing career has skyrocketed. His last novel The Fault in Our Stars has been in the New York Times bestsellers list for 2 years now and will this Summer be released as a film. Thats on top of several educational channels that they either write, produce or write. Crashcourse features 2 videos a week currently on Chemistry and American History.

I have loads key of awesome watch mojo wwe Saturday night live Mr excell the game Sack Agvn etc

I've read Paper Towns and TFIOS. I'll try and pick up Looking for Alaska next.

He's also into both codes of Football and often live tweets sports events. He labels himself a Liverpool fan but actually sponsors AFC Wimbledon as he likes what the club stands for. He lives in Indianapolis and supports the Colts.

He just comes across as a overall good egg.

I'm subscribed to mainly gaming and music channels, with a few exceptions. Most of them are let's players, as I'm somewhat addicted to them.

I do know the YouTube channel I've followed the longest is Ashens, it was one of the first YouTube channels I stumbled upon when I first got connected to the internet, and a few years after that when I opened my own YouTube account, it was the first channel I subscribed to. Followed by JonTronShow, Egoraptor and Game Grumps.

Since then it's increased drastically. I watch far too much stuff on YouTube. :P

I think New Legacy Inc are the best one's to follow it's just a bunch of massive wrestling fans messing around. I also like Total Biscuit although he's a bit pretentious at times.

Also I think Cr1tikal is hilarious and he donates all his Youtube earnings to charity despite being quite broke.

I mentioned Youtuber John Green above and that how one of his novels is being turned into a film, well since I posted that the trailer for the film has dropped.

Without Johns Youtube fan base, the book probably wouldn't of gained as much traction despite it getting great reviews and hence probably wouldn't of been adapted into a film so It's fair to say this here is another Youtube success story.

I would have imagined the characters to be a bit younger but it also has Willem Dafoe in it, so that's good. Also Laura Dern is in it, so expect a cameo from a Triceratops.

Empty inside most likely.
