For a scripted promo thought I think Bray delivers some of them really well when they do make sense

He delivers them very well, he's a great character and he knows how to play his deal really well. I just find it hard to credit somebody as being one of the best ever at something when they are just reading what somebody else has written for them.

From what I read, Bray has a lot of input into his promos. It's still a script though of course but he's the one that comes up with most of the content.

Wasn't the Rock always scripted to some degree though? I'm sure he pretty much always had people writing stuff for him, he was just really good at making written material sound natural.

His writer was almost exclusively Brian Gewirtz from what I remember.

You're missing the point here. We were discussing whether Bray Wyatt can be seen as one of the best because of him existing in an era when so much of the show is so heavily scripted. But then I was pointing out that even though The Rock is considered one of the all time greats, he was more often than not scripted too. So by that measure we're either saying Bray could be one of the greatest even though he's scripted heavily by WWE, or The Rock can't be deemed to be one of the greatest because his work was heavily scripted.

The Rock was given bullet points by Gewertz and advice on delivery from what Meltzer said back when he came back to face Cena the first time, theres no way he was even closely as scripted as Wyatt is, at all. I mean look at the difference with Hogan: unscripted he was one of the best promos ever, overly scripted and he's the drizzling shits who cant even remember simple lines.
