Guest Magic
A thread for all things football north of the wall. I don't think anyone expects anything other than another Celtic title in the Premiership, however, the Scottish Championship could be where it's at this season, with Rangers' promotion and Hibs and Hearts both being relegated. Rangers are the favourites to return to the top flight, and probably rightly so, but I wouldn't write Hearts out of it yet. They have a lot of pretty good Scottish kids who are gonna be much better off for the experience of last season. I think they could push Rangers closer than alot of people would think. Unfortunately for Hibs I don't think I can say the same about them. They looked really, really bad at times last season and with only one automatic place and one play-off, I think they will be spending more than one season down there. I'm a Raith Rovers guy, so I think I'll try and get to Starks Park a few times this year for some of the big games, hopefully a Rangers game. Is there anybody out there who doubts Rangers' ability to return straight to the top tier of Scottish football? The signing of Kris Boyd is surely ominous for all the Championship sides this year, he will absolutely run riot at that level. 30+ Goals easy. King 277
Rangers/Hibs/ Hearts all in League 1, that could prove a better league than the SPL this season.
Guest Magic
Well, technically they're in the Championship not League 1. League 1 is the league below. Scotland basically follows the English format now where Leagues 1 and 2 are tiers 3 and 4, just to confuse everyone :lol You're point is right though, it probably will be more fun than the top flight. Rangers vs. Hearts at Ibrox opening day of the season should be a cracker. One team has come up and one has come down so I'm really interested to see how they fair up against one another. Guest Steely
This league will be a cracker with more eyes on it than the top division as there's a lot of big teams down there fighting it out for only two places Up until Boyd signed for rangers I had hearts down as being the winners but now I'm not so sure, it'll be a great season regardless of who goes up. I'm a clyde fan so I'm more interested in how Barry ferguson gets on in charge of the bully wee (we've become the most backed team in scotland to win our league in terms of betting according to the daily record) but I won't hold my breath we have zero resources really so I'm jus hoping we avoid the new relegation playoffs for this league as that would be a nightmare
Guest Magic
Even though he's an ex-Rangers player, I quite want to see Barry Ferguson do well at Clyde. I like that he's gone down a tier or two to learn his trade and seems really passionate about getting into management so good luck to him. I agree Boyd makes the difference, up until that point I think Rangers' business had been a bit naff. Getting rid of Little to bring in Miller was wrong in my opinion, but Boyd on the other hand, he showed last season he's still got what it takes to rule Scotland's six yard boxes. Rangers' are a very short price to win the league. I think they will, but I don't think it will be as easy as the bookies seem to think and I wouldn't be surprised to see Hearts do them at Ibrox on the opening day. The Fury 65
Hearts have signed well to the point I may bet them to win the league Hope my beloved dons take 2nd. We've signed well and maybe one player left to cover the players we let go
Guest Magic
Could go anyway second place in the SPL, but if I was a betting man I'd for Dundee United. Some great young players coming through the ranks there, if they can keep hold of them of course.
BRM 220
Hearts have done good business wouldn't be surprised to see them take the Championship. Certainly not the easy ride that Rangers were expecting.
GENE 86
As a season ticket holder at Tynecastle, all I have to say is bring on The Rangers!
Guest Inno
I don't think anyone outside of Rangers fans were expecting an easy ride in the Championship this year for them. I think Hearts will take the title, to be honest
GENE 86
Got my Scotland season ticket for all the home qualifiers and the game against England. Really looking forward to this season with Hearts and Scotland :)
Guest Magic
I really, really want to get to the Germany games, home and away, but I'm not sure I'll have the time off work :(
GENE 86
Are you a member of the Tartan Army? Germany away is next month I think?
Guest Magic
Yeah its the 7th September. Not a member no but there's plenty tickets online for about £50-60 and I have no problem sitting in the German end because I'd probably be going with a couple of natives. Got a few friends over there. But I've just been off work for a fortnight so probably wouldn't get time off. Plus I am supposed to be saving money and not going on football weekends abroad :lol
