August 3, 201410 yr Congratulations, coming up for two years in a couple of weeks for me, it really is the best day of your life, unless you win the lottery lol
August 3, 201410 yr Not wanting to be a party pooper, but I'm with Belty. The amount a wedding costs these days could be put to much better use. Like a deposit on house. I've always been of the opinion that a wedding is just a really expensive p*ss up for your mates, which you can't even enjoy yourself because you're too busy making your way round everyone trying to be nice. Spaffing a few grand on what amounts to a piece of paper and a legal claim on your stuff if you die doesn't really strike me as worth it. But that's just me, I'm sure lots of other folks do think it's the best day of their lives and well worth it.
August 3, 201410 yr I never believed in it before. my parents were together for over 25 years without being married so never seen the need of it. But sometimes you meet someone who changes the way you think. No disrespect to Belty but given your comments in the cheating thread maybe your not ready yet someday you might be or maybe you never will each to there own. It can be a lot of money I am trying to do it for 5k but I am barely planning anything my partner is but I have watched so much four weddings it's silly

First of all congrats Jay, you seem to have nailed the way to plan a wedding, let her do it all! But this x100. Me and the my other half are at the stage now where everyone around us is getting engaged/married and I'm feeling a lot of pressure to go that way, but I'm holding out. Not because i don't love her but i can think of so much more to do with the money at this stage in our life, like getting a deposit down on a house. That and to myself marriage doesn't mean half as much as it did back even 15 years ago. And this isn't to say I'll never get married, im just fed up of family/friends/the misses asking.
