You'll level up surprisingly quickly. Especially if you can get through the levels on the higher difficulty setting instead of just normal.

EDIT: Just had my first go on the Halo 5 Beta, and got my sh*t pushed in magnificently by what appeared to be a clan on the other team. Faired a lot better on my second time out though. It's strange, from what I can make out Halo is slowly turning into Call of Duty and COD is slowly turning into a more Halo-esque game, which means inevitably at some point in the near future both games are going to converge into being the same half and half game of mehness I guess.

It's okay so far, but I'm completely cack-handed when it comes to using the assault rifle, so I'm off to a losing battle immediately. If they bring in something to change your loadout a little, I've got a feeling I'll have a lot more fun. At the minute my games tend to consist of me running round like a loon until I find a battle rifle and then I can start playing.

I really like Halo but I think it suffers like allot of online multiplayer games do, in that there is a lack of goal to achieve. Ok, you move up a rank but there doesn't to be anything meaningful that happens by leveling up, you're still the same guy really. I hope Halo 5 rectifies this. I like games where if you achieve this or that, you get such and such as a reward. Maybe it is just me.

Well with Halo 4 it was all about unlocking perks and classes, which kept me playing for a good long time. I've got no idea where they're going with Halo 5 though.

I've been playing Smash Bros on the Wii U, and it's frustrating, because I seem to suck at it.

Which is weird since I didn't suck at the N64, GameCube or Wii versions, only this one, and I can't figure out why. I do know one thing, and that's that 8-man matches are insane.

I've heard that SSB on the Wii U is harder to control than the previous versions, but it's supposed to reward you for being a bit persistent with it, so I guess it's a case of trying to learn the controls from scratch and forgetting what you knew about the other games?

Any tips for a Noob? Always seemed to get snipered and just generally, die allot.

Find controls you are comfortable with, and maybe try changing up your control sensitivity. I used to stink the place out on a regular basis, before I discovered I was trying to turn on a really low sensitivity. I've upped mine to around an 8 which makes my movement a lot more snappy.

The only other bit of advice I can really give is to learn the maps. All the best guys know the maps inside out, so if you can pick up on a couple of the tricks they like to use, it means you're ready for the and can at least try to counter their shenanigans instead of being an easy kill for them.

See COD doesn't reward you with gamer score for online play, only completing the single player on veteran OR completing Zombies so only fellow COD players who can see your level and badge can see if you're 9th prestige and so on.

At least with Halo 3, ODST and Anniversary there where online achievements, not just based on levelling up but also doing cool stuff so you got a truly visible reward for you and other people to bask in on top of levelling up as well for the solely in game rewards of gaining new armour, perks and titles.

For me though, I hate online gaming as it is full of exploiting, cheating, profane idiots so if I do go online it is in the comforting blanket of private games with friends, but then again I grew up in an era of couch gaming, Halo LAN parties and four person split screen on Perfect Dark and Goldeneye

Thanks Chris, I'll have a look at the controls tonight.

Bought Deadly Premonition for PS3. Only played the beginning, very weird game though.
