Paul 584
So... what you all reading now? Im up to date (collected editions) on Justice League (normal, JLA and United, but not Dark) and Green Arrow. Also Im behind the times but I've started on Irredeemable. My God but its good, its basically a what if Superman goes evil, just without using the Superman character. The Fury 65
Just deadpool at the moment which I am really getting into
Guest The Beltster
Masters of the Universe ongoing. Awesome. Ploughed through a few graphic novels too, currently on Batman RIP with Superman for Tomorrow lined up next.
dsrchris 190
I've tried to get up to speed on the new Secret Wars, but it's waaaaay too confusing at the moment. I'll just have to do what I did with Civil War and wait until everything's released and then read it all in the correct order.
Guest Yodahew
im currently working my way through walking dead book 2 (the 12 issue hardback version) and reading ultimate fantastic four vol 5 and just started reading the arrow TPB which is strange and im sure has continuity errors in it. Guest Eddie
I've always been ridiculously tight dusted when it's come to buying Graphic novels and such like but I finally decided to purchase a couple the other day. It was The Infinity Gaunlet and Civil War I really enjoyed Civil War but Infinity Gaunlet I can take or leave. Does anyone have any recommendations for Graphic novels? I have Watchmen and Marbel Zombies 1&2 I also have the judge dredd/batman crossovers and agents of shield Indestructible Hulk (all gifts Luckily enough :lol ) But yeah anything worth sinking my teeth into? dsrchris 190
It depends on what kinda thing you like, really. Are you after superhero stuff, or are you open to reading anything? I could reel off a list of stuff I like, but without knowing what other kind of comics you're into, it's a bit difficult to make a cold recommendation? Guest Eddie
I will give anything a read really, I've only ever really read superhero stuff but if something is interesting enough I'll give it a chance :)
Omega 354
If you haven't read them then The Sandman series by Neil Gaiman is a must.
Paul 584
Yeah, as Megz says go with Sandman. Also Preacher is pretty damned good. As a final one Irredeemable is utterly amazing. From a biased POV I'd get some Green Arrow stuff, Quiver being the best place to jump on. Though if you enjoy the Arrow TV show then New 52 run is kind of like it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preacher_(comics) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irredeemable
DC 536
You could always give Nemesis a go.
Paul 584
Which one? I have a weakness for the 2000AD one. In fact I admit I still love Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper (seriously, give it a shot), Nikolai Dante and Finn (good luck in finding that one to read, it was too much like Slaine so they stopped printing it :lol)
DC 536
Which one?The Millar / McNiven one through Icon Comics.
dsrchris 190
Nemesis is great, it's a graphic novel where we're following the villain rather than the hero, it's typical Millar fare, but it's a cool little 4 issue story. I love, love, LOVE Rogue Trooper from 2000AD, he's one of my all time favourites. In fact on an similar strand, there was a series running in 2000AD called Bad Company that's well worth checking out if you can track it down. Preacher's my favourite comic series EVER, so I'll always wholeheartedly recommend that to anyone looking to put a reading list together. If you like things like Godfather, Goodfellas, Departed, or those kind of movies then I'd recommend reading something like 100 Bullets (which you should read anyway) or Ed Brubaker's Criminal or Fatale. They're all great stories, with 100 Bullets being another of my top 5 of all time. As for more current stuff, there's a couple of ongoing series I'm reading at the moment, such as Chew, which is about a cibopathic detective who can tell info about crimes from eating parts of the crime scene. It sounds weird, but it's super cool and about to wrap up after 60-odd issues, so now's probably a good time to get into it and actually be able to read it from start to finish in one go. I'm also reading Saga, which is a grand space epic about warring races, with a bit of Romeo and Juliet-esque stuff mixed in. It's very cool, and Fiona Staples provides some exquisite artwork for the book. Thats still seemingly in it's early days (we're only 30 issues in) but I'm super invested already. Oh, and for one final Superhero comic (without being "proper" superheroes) I recommend The Boys from Garth Ennis (the guy who wrote Preacher). It's basically about a team of guys who are employed to police superheroes, because outside of the public eye it turns out that Superheroes get up to some totally f*cked up sh*t. I won't say anything more than that because it'll spoil the surprise, but yeah, The Boys is awesome, brutal, and kinda horrific all at the same time. ...aaaaaaand breath. Guest Eddie
Wow! Thank you all for the recommendations!! I like what I've read and heard about Preacher so I think I'll give that a shout first. I also love the Arrow TV series so I'll take a look into the new 52 run. Quiver I've heard about already so I think I'll get that too. 100 Bullets and Nemesis are added to the list also as I like the idea of following the villain. 100 bullets also because those three movies are in my top 20 of all time :lol
