Biggest personal disappointing debut?

DC

Back in the day, I loved Maxx Payne in WCW and when I had read through Superstars of Wrestling (which would eventually become Powerslam Magazine) that he was going to WWE, I was stoked.

Instead, we got this abomination and my 18yr-old heart was crushed with bitter disappointment.

What is your biggest personal disappointment when it comes to a favourite jumping ship and debuting with a new promotion?

This is a tricky one for me, actually. With the caveat of it having to be a debut of a competitor from a different promotion, I've had to think a bit harder and since my memory sucks, mine are probably going to be a little more recent than some in this thread.

Kaval - The independent legend known as Low Ki really should have been given a more impressive debut in WWE. There's a chance that Kaval could have been the next CM Punk or Daniel Bryan in WWE, but not only did Kaval debut on NXT back when NXT was an ill-conceived circus of a Tough Enough parody, but he was given Layla & Michelle McCool as Pros. I still don't understand what WWE's though process was with this idea. I'm fully aware that Daniel Bryan was also introduced to WWE through the original NXT show, but the difference is that Bryan was given a built-in feud from the get-go with The Miz as his Pro and Bryan was a part of NXT before the show became a complete joke. Kaval is one of the few ROH guys that WWE brought in in recent years that was not given the proper treatment and it's a shame that Kaval's WWE stint went down the way it did.

I have to agree, I was sorely disappointed by the way they utilized Kaval... That guy had some potential for sure.

Mike Awesome in the WWE during the Invasion, they made him look like a tool even when he was winning a title (the Hardcore title from Rhyno which he lost two weeks later to Jeff Hardy) and then they jobbed him out relentlessly from then on.

I imagine it was Paul Heyman getting revenge on him for the way he left ECW to go to WCW but I really like Awesome and the only time he was allowed to tear up in a WWE ring was at the first One Night Stand against his old foe Tanaka and now sadly he is no longer with us.

Bloody shame.

the problem is Paul Heyman revenge bit is that the guy wasn't getting paid i don't see any reason why he couldn't leave to join the WCW, it should teach Paul E to pay his workers

Plenty of people where not getting paid, Tazz was owed money, he still did the decent thing and dropped the title, Dreamer hardly got paid and he still put people over.

You don't do what Madusa did with the WWF women's title, what Lesnar did with the IWGP title when he cropped up in in IGF or what Awesome tried to do with the ECW Title - its not that he left, its that he tried to take the World Title with him and bury in on national TV and Heyman had to get a court order to stop him and then the WWE had to loan him a wrestler so that he would lose the title in his last appearance.

That is why Joey Styles always dripped with venom when he spoke of him or commentated on his matches and why Heyman disliked him - he was going to go into business for himself.

He was doing what he asked to do by the people who were paying to him to do, I have no problem with what awesome did, in terms of people getting paid, some people could afford not to get paid, awesome couldn't with a family

Tommy Dreamer had a family and couldn't afford it, lots of people did and that's why they left.

Its not the leaving Heyman had an issue with, its that he refused to job at the end of his run in ECW and drop the title to someone on the ECW roster.

You know how Vince was losing his fruit over CM Punk possibly leaving with the WWE title and looked like he'd stroke out at the very mention of the idea. Well that was kayfabe - imagine it actually going to happen and you'd understand Heyman's feelings which where like Vince's but 1,000 times worse.

It'd probably go a little like this.
