I feel like we've got more reality shows these days than in the past. It's increasingly popular... and for some of them, I just can't understand why. (The #1 example being those Kardashian shows. Then we also have The Bachelor/ette franchise and the ones where you get help picking your wedding dress.) Despite being advertised as a 'reality show', we know in fact that many situations are actually staged.

I've never been a fan of them and still not one. I do watch some once in a while. Shows like Idols, The Voice, and The Amazing Race are tolerable in my taste.

Which shows do you like to watch?

I agree with you especially because there are many reality shows as a result of each celebrity wanting to 'join the hype'. As much as they might be called so, it is true that most of the scenes are staged and the true happenings are concealed from the public. All the same, there are people who love these shows.
I guess I'm strange, but I never liked reality shows. I tried to watch a couple in the early days of this genre, but I found that they could not keep my attention. Watching someone else having a great time just doesn't really do it for me. Can't stand 'em.
I have never really liked reality shows. I can't seem to relate to any of them. Many of them are just about Bachelors/Bachelorettes and their dating situations. I'm really not interested in their life only mine.

If you're strange, then I'm strange with you. I've tried watching a few of them but I just can't get into it. It just all seems so staged and fake. I definitely can't get into the drama ones, like The Kardashians, because it's all just too petty and stupid (probably doesn't help that I'm also a male). The competition ones are better, but it still involves a lot of pettiness and, like I said, a sense of artificiality that I just can't get past.

I am usually not to big into reality shows but I have gotten in to Below Deck. It's a series that follow a yacht crew as they do their jobs on a luxury yacht with millionaires. It's fun to watch these people with millions of dollars get pampered on the yacht.

Can't help but wonder why it has to go like that. Would it be so uninteresting without drama? Look at shows like The Next Top Model series and how the girls always pick fights with each other. I know that it can also be a natural process, but some look like unnecessary problems.

Doesn't it make you sad to see rich people enjoying luxury, though? Lol. But I do like this type of show: home design, building a pond or choosing a villa. At least the screen is filled with more beautiful sceneries and landscapes, better than watching some artificial drama.

Far be it from me to try and understand the minds of the people behind television and movies. The sad part is that they know what sells. I can remember all the way back to the first couple seasons of Survivior (which is the first reality show I can remember) and people loving the feuds. I don't know if it's so much that people like drama as much as they like having people to root for and root against.
