Everyone has probably been through one extremely frustrating moment in a game (a battle, certain mission, whatever) that can still make them feel frustrated, or at least antsy, when they think about it now. What's yours? I have several, sadly. I think the earliest one I can remember is the Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time. I had such a hard time with it for some reason.

I haven't played my Super Nintendo since before Uni, but Donkey Kong Country 2 was my nemesis. I clearly remember trying to get past one of the water worlds over and over and over and not being able to complete it. I would dream about it in my sleep even.
Oh man, can you remember which world? I used to love that game! My little brother and I used to play it all the time. There were definitely some aggravating levels. Haha, I've definitely had stress dreams about video games. I'm pretty sure I had one about the Spirit Temple last night since I started thinking about it after I wrote this topic.

Sim-antics, I probably should have called it a level rather than a world because that version of Donkey Kong switched obstacles and environments often. Actually, I think most games in the Donkey Kong franchise are like that. I got pretty far along in the game, but just couldn't complete that water level and I refused to let anyone play it for me because it felt like cheating. A younger me took video games very seriously, you see.

What was it about the game you mentioned that frustrated you? Did you and your brother end up completing it?

Do you remember how difficult the original Super Mario Bros was to win? When you ran out of lives, the game was over and you had to start right back at the very beginning of the whole thing.

@Ogmore I figured that's what you meant. I was imagining the levels where you can ride that swordfish around but I'm not sure if those are the ones you were talking about or not. Some of those levels could be really tricky. I would've felt like that was cheating too! Actually, I'd still feel that way. The ship mast levels were the worst for me. This was a nightmare for me! Just looking at those images is giving me frustration flashbacks.

@ShadowEdge Oh gosh, how had I forgotten about that? That was awful. Thank God for memory cards, eh?

I'm not entirely sure but I think you could ride a rhino, ostrich, and swordfish at various points. That might have been in the first Donkey Kong Country too. I struggled with the ship mast levels as well on Donkey Kong Country 2. The rising water made my hands sweat from nerves.

Yup, I remember the rhino and the swordfish. I'm having a hard time remembering the ostrich though. My memory just isn't what it used to be I guess, haha. I remember the rattlesnake too because he was usually on those ship mast levels. My hands are getting sweaty just thinking about it! But it makes me want to play it again at the same time.

I like to aim for perfection, so I have to get full stars for every stage or open the most complicated quest to feel satisfied. I get frustrated from repeating a stage or a section but unable to move on unless it's a perfect finish. Sometimes I wonder if I play for fun or to get me even more stressed!
