I am only as far as two episodes in, but I know that it is one of the best I've seen in a while. The series is bloody ace! They depict the Roman conquest of Britain so effortlessly stylish. The supernatural elements are certainly my favourites. I will happily watch the rest of the episodes knowing that a sequel is in the process.

Have you seen this one?

At first it felt like the visuals were too similar to Game of Thrones, but I got over it Zoe Wanamaker is brilliant in her role as Queen Antedia. She's the ultimate "mother bear" with a thirst for revenge.
It does feel like Game of Thrones without the dragons and the living dead. It has a huge dose of mysticism, which I think makes the TV series more of a show than a documentary. Well, most of the documentaries of today are turned into TV shows. Vikings, Terror, and Black Sails are examples of documentary-turned-drama-fantasy shows.

Are all Roman generals like that? Or is it just how Hollywood understands what Roman generals are. If they are like that in real life, then who will follow them? I'm sure there are generals who are really like that, but not all of them.

As for the show, I like the adventures of Lindon.

It is the perfect time indeed to start a show similar to Game of Thrones when the latter plans to finish next year. I can certainly live with fewer sex scenes. I hope they would tone down the gore as well, though it may be appropriate for those ages.

It looks like the general's real counterpart in history was more a politician than a military leader. He was made awkward in purpose.

Adding mysticism doesn't take away from the realism in my opinion. As long as they stay true to historical facts I think it makes the show all the more better.

I read several articles about this series, and I don't think it was ever marketed as a historical or documentary show. The scriptwriter himself expressed interest in exploring the supernatural side of that period, so I guess that's why we get such style.

I want to give credits to the makeup team, though. Mackenzie Crook's appearance is especially stunning!
