Well there is the Combat Sports Channel which starts on Sky in August, it's already announced that Pro Wrestling NOAH, and New Japan will be broadcast, as well as K-1.

Now here comes the rumours, FWA, CZW and NWA-TNA, have all stated recently that they are close to getting TV deals in the UK. Thus, is it possible these could all be on this channel???

I'll add RF Video to the list of people who have been contacted about showing their products.
Howd you find that out??
Rob said something about it at FOH (not to me).

I'm over the moon about NJPW and Pro Wrestling NOAH - if it features CZW and NWA-TNA then I'm a happy man :)

I'm already happy about K-1 - means I can get to watch Mirkovic "Cro Cop" Flipovic.

I think that this is great news for any fan of combat sports. even greater news that now english veiwers can now get a glimpse at the Japanese promotions, etc. If NWA:TNA also sign up then it will be fantastic.

wrestling channel confirmed (if you believe 1stopwrestling that is):

quick run down

ROH (told you...you heard it here first), CZW, XPW (booo) and OVW!!!! have been contacted about screening shows.

80s wrestling will be shown (w00t!)

New Japan and Noah will be a feature

FWA and Irish Whip will have shows

Hammerlock however won't

a Mexican promotion has also been contacted.

More promotions will be announced at a later date.

If thats true, that is positively awesome.
It will be, i'm sooo excited by the prospect!!! All my favourite feds on one channel! w00t! :)

I've got a feeling that the channel will struggle to fill a full day's schedule.

Obviously you can't show XPW or CZW shows at 3pm, and it's not every day that a MMA company puts out a show. So I've got a feeling you're going to see a lot of repeats during the day, before a lot more of the risqué promotions can be shown at night.

That is unless the Combat Sports channel have managed to get a massive tape library, filled with old matches/shows from the promotions they show.

But with all that quality wrestling available in the UK, it makes me sad that I have Telewest. Still, I wouldn't give up my 1MB Broadband for all the wrestling in the world.

As I said to someone on MSN, ROH have produced at least 54 hours of shows so far with another 4/5/6 shows left to go, cut those down to 1 hour shows and you have 54 shows..

The NJPW video library is extensive (as we all know).

The FWA will only allow the most recent events to be shown (starting from Octobers Uprising)

80s wrestling could be anything

I don't think any of us expected a 24 hour channel just yet, maybe in a few years time (I don't expect the channel to last that long to be honest) the channel could be 24 hours....I hope they do have some MMA though.

So if New Japan is a feature and NOAH there be a bit of a competition with Sky and this Irish channel then, hmm or is Sky going to be working with them

Any way who cares as Goldy said w00t :D

The channel wouldn't neccesarily have to fill a full days schedule, it could maybe kick off at 7pm each night or so.

And yet no one has contacted MLW... doomed to failure I tell ya. :P

Although I must express sheer disappointment that a show dominantly featuring Raven, Vampiro, Steve Corino and Super Crazy hasn't even been considered.

But hey, TNA have been contacted. If they get TNA and maybe some more jap feds, I'll watch it, otherwise I won't.

Technically though Draven if all the promotions who Verby mentioned do get shown, then you will see Raven for XPW/NWA-TNA/ROH, Corino for ROH/NWA-TNA, Crazy for XPW and possibly Vamp for like EMLL.

Also might point out, it is a combat sports channel, thus means more than wrestling, i.e. possibly boxing, martial arts, sumo wrestling, kickboxing, thus wrestling wouldn't take up all the time. Either way if having XPW, NJPW, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Ring Of Honor, FWA, Irish Whip, CZW, NWA-TNA, K-1 and something lucha, and something from the 1980's to choose from, it's not like you hacen't got the widest possiblr spectrum of wrestling to choose from.

Shoot fights, lucha libre, puroresu, garbage wrestling, X-Division, old southern brawling, UK style, high flying, comedy matches, strong style, every possible style you can get. Something for everyone.

Right according to Mo Chatra, the guys who run this station, contacted Power Slam about it not too long ago, and Chatra also expects them to broadcast the following

- Zero-One

- All Japan

- Toryumon

- EMLL

- Memphis

- Florida

- Georgia

- Mid-South (?)

Of course take it as just a rumour, but at the mo, that's nearly every major promotion on the earth, bar the odd few. If we get all that, God truly does love us all. Then if anyone complains about no alternative to WWE, I'll shoot them.:D

Depends what shows we get thoug,h Jung. We don't know what era of shows we'll get. Raven has only wrestled on RoH's new shows. Thats like 50 hours without him, although COrino is there. But Corino didn't wrestle often for TNA at all. TNA might get shown from the start. No one knows the schedules yet. It could be new stuff, but it might be very old stuff too.

But bleh, I'm just going by personal choice. RoH bores me, XPW disinterests me, UK wrestling is basically a UK RoH trying to be a poor mans TNA, and shoot fights have bored me in the past, although I got my moms bf hooked into UFC, but I don't think that will be shown. But if its that kind of fighting, I'm not complaining. And mexican wrestling again doesn't really entertain me that much, having been brought up on the americanised scene.

I will be interested to see japanese wrestling though. Having heard so much about it, and being a big fan of brutality (which is why if a proper garbage fed like CZW is shown, not an ECW-rip like XPW, I will most certainly be interested) I will be very interested in the likes of Noah, especially to see the likes of Vader who I grew up watching.

I am curious though to know what the 80s wrestling will consist of. Think we may get to see good ol' UK wrestling from the days of Big Daddy, or stuff like World Class or even old japanese wrestling? Seen how NWA and WWF footage is owned by WWE, with AWA most likely soon to follow, it shall be interesting to see what the old stuff will be.

So ok, I will admit I will be quite interested. I'm just not flabberghastedly excited.. thats all. Not until TNA is announced :)

Hmm... thats quite a list. I know all of those except for mid-south.. would that be Texas, or what? I'm not that good with my geography.
This is F'N ace! TNA & OVW!

Mid South - in the 80's was a HOT wrestling place - with shows at the Mid South Coliseum in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jerry "The King" Lawler was the top man in Mid South.

As for NWA-TNA being annouced - now I can be a happy man :)

Also RoH is on too - this means I can get to watch my Old School Hero Steve Corino!

Awesome!

Texas was like World Class, Von Erich's and such.

As for other oldies, you could guess at AWA (but have a feeling Vince might own that), old GWF (Global that is not Jon "wrestling without a ring" Farrer), Tri State, UWF, and All Star and maybe CWA, USWA stuff.

As for NOAH, unlucky Draven, if its new stuff, no Vader, he left in January, after he decided he didn't want to stay, and the Yakuza kicked the living tar out of him.

But really if you can't find anything you like out of all that lot lol, you must be insane, and also WWE must have fried you're brain. You have literally every style under the sun, so the choice is yours. But you never know if all these feds did get shown, wouldn't rule out MLW, in the future. Not surprised they haven't been signed up though anyway, are a very very new company, just trying to get their foot in the door in America. I'm sure the UK, is the least of their targets, right at the moment.
