SmackDown! starts when Vince comes down to the ring with Stephanie. Vince said that after he defeated Stephanie he and Sable went home and had sex. He then makes the early announcement of the new SmackDown! GM. To the surprise of no one if you've been checking the site today, he named Paul Heyman the new GM.

 

Heyman comes down and says that things are going to get a lot better on SD! with him serving as the new GM.

 

Undertaker hits the ring, but Heyman warns Taker not to touch him, now that he's the GM. He then makes a handicapped match for later tonight; Undertaker vs. Brock & Big Show. If Undertaker wins, he can pick a match anytime, anyplace, anywhere, against anybody.

 

 

Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs. John Cena & A-Train:

 

Match featured an Angle Slam on A-Train, followed by Benoit grabbing a chair and attempting to hit A-Train. He misses, hitting Angle in the face. Angle and Benoit get into a little scuffle in the ring, with Angle taking Benoit down. The match ends in a no-contest, and refs have to pull the two apart.

 

 

From Nidia's webcam, Jamie Noble says that Nidia will not be back for a while.

 

Backstage, Benjamin and Haas are talking about their tag title match against Los Guerreros. Paul Heyman then shows up and says that since they didn't respect him, their title shot is off (it'll go to the Bashams) and they have a match against Rikishi and a mystery partner.

 

Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin vs. Rikishi & Scotty:

 

Scotty & Rikishi won the match after ten minutes. Match saw Scotty get the worm on Benjamin, and Rikshi "backed it up" on Haas.

 

After the match, Vince and Sable were seen dancing in their private skybox. Undertaker then was seen at the door and said that if Vince was such a man, he wouldn't pay that slut (Sable) to sleep with him. He said that Vince better pray he loses, because if he does not, he's coming after Vince.

 

 

Los Guerreros vs. The Bashams:

 

Match saw Eddie miss a frogsplash and also get hit with a club from Doug Basham while the ref's back was turned. This allowed The Bashams to get the pinfall and the win - they're the new tag champions.

 

Zach Gowen vs. Tajiri:

 

Tajiri destroyed Zach early on, but Gowen later got some offense in. He went for his moonsault, but missed and then Tajiri won with a kick. After the match, Ryan Sakoda and Jimmy Yang came down and aligned with Tajiri.

 

Lesnar and Show are backstage and talk about their match with Undertaker; saying the other one better step up tonight.

 

A pre-taped Bob Holly promo vignette aired where Holly said that he's coming after Lesnar, since Lesnar broke his neck. When Holly comes back, he's after Lesnar.

 

Undertaker vs. Big Show & Brock Lesnar:

 

Undertaker pins Big Show after chokeslamming him from the tope rope.

 

Paul Heyman then comes out and changes it to a 2/3 falls match. Undertaker wins via countout, but Heyman says he forgot to tell everyone that there was no countout in the match. The match continues and Big Show hits Undertaker with a chair, giving Taker the DQ win. Match continues AGAIN, as Heyman tells everyone he forgot to say no DQs.

 

Eventually, Taker wins and Vince comes down, asking what match Taker wants. Taker says a buried alive match at Survivor Series. Vince says that Lesnar will kick Taker's ass in the match, but Taker clarifies that it's Undertaker vs. Vince McMahon in a Buried Alive Match at Survivor Series. Show ends.

This allowed The Bashams to get the pinfall and the win - they're the new tag champions.

 

News just in- a young man from Scotland was found trying to hang himself today. Reports suggest that the mysterious man, known only as "Simon", was driven over the edge by an event that happened earlier this morning. We'll have more news as it develops.

Bashams win the tag team title's, Bob Holly is coming back, thats it Riki is right, there is no hope for the wwe now.

What a fricken joke. I'm not watching SD again until they lose them. This is a dark day in the history of tag team wrestling... considering we've gone back to taking the titles seriously again (hence why I'm ignoring the fact that teams like Rico/Rikishi and Spike/Tazz had the titles).

 

I've not quite hung myself.... but I'm very pissed off.

 

And Holly's after Lesnar? I hope Lesnar drops Holly on his head again. Why don't you just take Bradshaw and f*** off with him.

There is a difference though,

 

Angle V Benoit = Some of the greatest matches, real competitiveness, I rivalry that makes sense and great TV.

 

Bashams winning the Tag titles = Boring matches, Bad promos, real leather pants, boring TV.

 

Vince on TV = Funny facial expressions.

 

Bob Holly = Angry bitter mid carder

I don't see what everyone's problem is with the Bashams.

 

They're a good team, they have a finishing move, they don't fight singles matches, they have a team gimmick (not just any two guys) and they're both good wrestlers (two of the top OVW guys). What more do you want?

 

I'd much rather see them with the titles than Eddie and Chavo, who aren't a proper team since Eddie is a singles wrestler. Do you ever remember HBK winning the IC title while he was in the Rockers? Or Bret being IC champ while wrestling in the Hart Foundation? Tag teams should only wrestle as teams.

 

Rey Mysterio should NEVER win the tag titles as he's not in a tag-team. Having people like Mysterio and any random partner win the titles totally devalues the supposed difficulty of winning the titles. It's supposed to be about who's the best TEAM.

 

Therefore WGTT should beat Angle and Benoit, or Angle and Lesnar, or UT and Angle, or ANY combination of two guys, however good they are individually, because they wouldn't have the team-work of a proper tag team.

 

Scotty got a good reception, as did Rikishi. Since they're both better wrestlers than Booker T, they should clearly be in the main events. :P

 

And I thought Benoit was bad holding his opponents down, now he's putting himself over his partner! :roll

 

I too am bored of Angle-Benoit, although perhaps they'll just have #1 contenders match and Benoit can win. At least we haven't seen Benoit fight Lesnar 10 times already.

 

Paul Heyman was great as the new GM, and as I said last week, it works a lot better with a heel GM. Since Steph was a face, they needed Vince to oppose her and give heels the advantage.

 

Now Steph is gone, and Heyman is in, there's no real need for Vince, so he'll disappear after the buried alive match.

 

The new "Yakuza" guys look good, hopefully they'll be a decent tag-team. They already have a finishing move and a gimmick! :xyx

 

For once the tag-team scene is looking up. :)

 

The UT-Vince ending would have been better if I hadn't known about the match, so that was pretty good too.

 

SD had lots of good points this week, although it wasn't as good as Raw, but it was more of a "planning for the future" show.

 

The future's bright, the futures Bashams. :P

Whats the Bashams gimmick then? They came in as nobodies, they had no introduction and just suddenly turned up. I said it then that they weren't going to succeed, few months down the line, they get no reaction, on one cares about them, why because they were never given a reason to!

 

Remember how good the Tag belts were when it was Eddie & Chavo V WGTT? They had a good story to it, class matches and the fans were really into it, WGTT v Too Cool, that would be good, Bashams V APA (who are now clearly past it) BORING!!

I think their gimmick is supposed to be deviants or Shaniqua's sex slaves or something. Although it doesn't matter what it is, the point is they both share it, they're not just two guys who are teamed together like Angle and Benoit were.

 

What they could do with is a new face team to spruce things up again so there's new matches to go around.

 

They should take my example from EWR and hire Halloween and Damien666 and have Mexico's Most Wanted fighting for the titles! :)

I actually think its a good idea to give the bashams the titles for too lonf the WWE have made a joke of the Tag Titles by givin them to guys who mainly fight in singles competition Kane & Rvd, Eddie and Chavo they should return to good old fashioned tag teams like when they had Demolition, LOD, The Hart Foundation and The Beverly Brothers (lol). At least the Bashams are a real Tag Team and like Ed said (hey that rhymes) ther've come from OVW so at least there pushing some youth instead of the usual array of crap. I mean does anyone really wanna see Scotty and Rikishi get the titles?

In my EWR Walshyboy & Suaveo Edwardo were truely the greatest of all tag teams, until Walshyboy blew his knee.
