Would Mania X-8 have been better if...

 

booked a WWF Championship Tournament?.

 

With the talent and big names in the WWF at the moment I would have liked to have seen a tournament for the WWF title.They did it at Mania 4 and they could have pulled it off this year.

 

In round 1

Chris Jericho,Stone Cold,Triple H,Hogan,Angle,Kane,Undertaker,Rock. (4 heels,4 faces).

 

2 semi finals and a final.

 

The tournament would create interest in the matches and the fact that any one of the above could win it would give it some credibility.

 

My pick for a winner?

 

Kane - the un-likely winner and so a memorable one.

No, i don't think it would be. I'd like to see a WWF champ. tournament but not at Wrestlemania. What about the other talent? Would their be enough time to fit them all in?

 

Also, what would be the point in winning the Rumble if its only to be entered into a tournament? They didn't have the same problem in 1988.

 

Wrestlemania would be better if they had built up the feuds properly instead of just throwing people together at the last minute.

I woulda loved to see a tournament, but if they make this years Wrestlemania half decent i suppose i could live without it. It just seemed like the time was right for one.

 

As for King of the Ring, it was always a wannabe big PPV, its only ever half decent when they make it 8 in the tournament rather than undermine it with only 4. I pray for Edge's sake that he dont end up like Billy Gunn due to his King of the Ring win being undermined...

 

A tournament woulda been nice, but as for the idea about one not letting the other talent in...it could be argued that Wrestlemania has never really been the kindest PPV to the talented wrestlers of the past.

Wrestlemania would be better if I didn't have to watch old Legdrop of doom in a match. Sure he achieved a lot, and can still be entertaining, but not in the ring pleeease.

 

A tournament would have been good for me, and the main event would still have been a singles match for the world title, but I'd have made it a 16 man tournament, Taker, Austin, Rock, RVD, Booker, Edge, Y2J, HHH, Angle, Kane, Hall, Nash, Hogan, Big Show, DDP, Storm or something like that. I think tournaments really allow a story to unfold throughout the course of a night. Remember the Rock/McMahon's screw job on Austin and Mankind at Survivor Series.

I don't think the WWF felt like giving Edge a main event match, good as he is, he just isn't main event material yet.

 

Hopefully this years KOTR will feature different people and not Kurt Angle again.

They've managed KOTR badly for a long while now.

 

Things is Bret one the first, fine, but he should have got a title shot, nor feuded with Lawler. Other winners include Mabel and Billy Gunn. Sure Austin, Bret and Angle all won it, but other winners have been poor, and even though HH has won it, at the time he was far from being the star he is now.

 

Look at the Rumble, won by Hogan too many times, Flair, Austin, Michaels.

 

To make KOTR mean anything it needs a definite title shot, an 8 man tournament, and bigger name wrestlers in it, but as they've already damaged its credibility with Jake the Snake getting to the final, Mabel winning it, and one years final being X-Pac against Billy Gunn. Oh dear.
