Hey all.

 

I am in a dilemma, as well all know crimbo is just around the corner, and I cannot decide whether to get a Game Boy Advance or a Playstation 2.

 

Both have wrestling games coming out on them, Road To Wrestlemania for the GBA and Smackdown 3 for the PS2.

 

Any help?

If you have the choice then a PS2 should be the one. With a DVD player and a excellent choice of games the PS2 will be much better than the GBA. And SD JBI it almost certainly be much better than Road to Wrestlemania.

 

The GBA will be ok to carry around with you, but if you have the choice the PS2 is the better console, although they is a big difference in the price.

The best to do would be get nothing for Christmas and wait till Gamecube.But if you really must choose it depends what you want.If you want something to play games on get a GBA.If you want a really expensive home entertainment system get a PS2.

Gamecube my ass, get a PS2 now and if it's any better upon it's eventual release, which I seriously doubt, get a Gamecube too.

 

If your gonna wait for a console, then the Microsoft X-Box is the one to wait for.

The decision to make is to get a PS2 because you get value for money as it now costs £199.99 in the shops and it is more expensive than the GBA. You will be able to play DVD's on the PS2 and you can watch loads of wrestling DVD's. Just look at some of the reviews on the website and they may give you a better insight.

 

My vote is for the Playstation 2

I think it shall be the PS2 then, although hopefully the new Smackdown has better gameplay than the first two, more like No Mercy for the N64.

 

I suppose that's a good point about the DVD's, I can buy some wrestling ones - which I hear are far better than the normal videos. :D

 

On a side note, does anyone know some really good upcoming games for the PS2? I don't want to be stuck on crimbo morning playing one naff wrestling games.

Well it depends what you like. Gran Turismo 3 is meant to be quality and so is SSX snowboarding. Just look in loads of shops to see some good games and see what the charts in the shop shelves say.

FIFA 2002 if you like your footy games is supposed to be a radical overhaul of the old game and not the usual release last years crap with updated teams.

 

Also ISS Pro Evolution is being released under a new name which escapes me at the moment.

 

Smackdown JBI looks superb.

 

Gran Turismo 3 is superb and i'd also recommend Crazy Taxi.

Well OK.Get your PS2.It will be me whos sitting in Spring with a brand new Gamecube playing Luigis Mansion while your playing your PS2.And now PS2 gets no more Resident Evil games while Gamecube gets Resident Evil 0,1,3,4 and Code Veronica.And then GBA link up,FF11,Mario Sunshine,Zelda,Soul Caliber 2,Crazy Taxi,Super Smash Brothers Melee.

I don't dislike the PS2, but I find it's faults and decide to stay towards xbox/gamecube.

I must admit, I found the Smackdown games to be utter tripe. But, in the past, I made a mistake.

 

I originally bought a Playstation, but after a few years sold it to buy an N64. A year later, I bought the Playstation again. So this leads me to believe that the PS is just superior, even though it admittedly looks like having a very shaky start.

 

I am tempted to wait for the X-Box, as Raw looks absolutely stunning, but it is released in March after Christmas and is also going to be very pricy, whereas the PS2 is down to £199 already.

As I already said in this thread FIFA is being remade this year so read the thread before you go off on one at me again. Resident Evil is not too scary for me i'm just not into that kind of thing, and I liked both Smackdown games.

 

I'm 23 years old and Super Mario games have been around as long as I remember and frankly they don't interest me anymore and also I find them childish. I'm only really play sports games and driving games nothing else really interests me, as Nintendo always seem to rely heavily on Platform and Adventure games their consoles don't interest me, matter of taste I suppose.

They rely heavily on Platform and Adventure games?Mario Kart,Starfox,Zelda,Majoras Mask,Pokemon Stadium,Pokemon Snap,Animal Forest,Mario Tennis,Mario Party and if you don't just mean games Nintendo themselves created then Goldeneye,Jet Force Gemini,Perfect Dark,Turok 1,2,3 and Rage Wars,Wave Race, and many more.

And Cloud that list of games interests me in no way at all, i'm not arguing with you anymore I just don't like Nintendos OK, oh and by the way, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis and Mario Party? How original.

 

I may have to buy a Nintendo console though in about 5 years time when my 7 week old daughter is within Nintendos target age, she may then be interested in playing shedloads of Mario games, I on the other hand am not.
