Not sure - I know that Randy Savage used to unwrap it during matches sometimes and choke his opponents with it . . . . . . ah the Macho Man! You gotta love him!

 

I know that some sportsmen. like footballers, wear it to cover the jewellery on their hands like wedding-rings and such. I believe that Rick Rude for one never took off his wedding ring, or so I've heard. He just taped it up instead
