They won't last....Honestly.

I was playing SvR the other day and was in an Elimination Chamber as myself. One of my opponents was The Rock, and it got me thinking.

How many people, honestly felt that when they first saw him, he would last like he did. I honestly thought he would be a flash in the pan, maybe around for a year at most.

I also pegged Austin, Angle, Christian and Kane like this too.

So I'm wondering, was it just me or did any TWOites think along these lines as well.

With Austin, I felt his gimmick would see him released as it wasn't him, IMO Stunnung Steve was who he was, I was wrong. I was right about the gimick, not about the man, thank god.

With Angle, I felt he was gonna be a novelty for a few months. Amatuer wrestling til the crowd or Vince got bored.

With The Rock and Christian I just felt they had no real talent for WWE style wrestling and would be found out and sent packing, ah what do I know.

With Kane I could see potential in the character, but couldn't see it lastingg beyond the fued with Taker. I'm glad I was wrong there too.

So did anyone feel the same about these guys?

Or was there anyone else you thought wouldn't last but did? Goldberg perhaps, a footballer with no gimmick who couldn't really wrestle and had squashes all the time, or DDP, who left it too late to start wrestling.

There were a few I never saw lasting. Jeff hardy being one and eventually I was right. Partially due to the fact that I hate him but now he stinks up th fed i watch more TNA.

Prior to his WWF debut Id honestly not heard of Mick Foley so when he came in as Mankind i thought he was doomed, strange how legendary he became

And then theres the guy i thought would be with WWE for many many years to come. Br....Just kidding..SEAN O'HAIRE. I honestly believed he was the REAL next big thing and since he hadnt been used in two years and then still came back i had high hopes. Oh how WWE ruin wrestlers

I didn't think Kane would last long either. It seemed to me at the time, that he'd have no where to go after feuding with the Undertaker.

Gene Snitsky's a very recent one, I thought Kane would've squashed him and that would be that, how wrong I was. But Snitsky pretty much squshed Kane and is recieving one hell of a push as the biggest Monster Heel ever to be on RAW! and he's damn entertaining too.

Snitsky sucks. his mike skills are poor. They may improve is he gest rid of the frewuents rrrarrrrghs and such but apart from that the guy sucks major ass.

It was all his fault.

I didn't think Spark Bob Holly Plugg would be around as long as he was.

I thought Bart Gunn would survive and not Billy.

The Rock on the other hand was the first third generation superstar he had longevity written all over him like Orton has now.

Thought also Lesnar would have been Tough Enough but............no!

When the first Tough Enough finished i expected Maven to be around for a few months and then run out his contract in OVW, but he has proved myself and many others wrong with how well he is doing. I also couldnt see the Hardys lasting long as singles wrestlers, Matt has lasted but is crap, and Jeff is stinking up TNA, so in a way i was right and wrong.

Back in WCW i didnt think 3 count would last, i loved the gimmick, it was funny, but i didnt see the wrestlers lasting. Obviously Helmes has, but Moore seems to be squash fodder, and Evan Karagias who knows.

At the moment, i cant see Simon Dean lasting too long, the gimmick is lacking direction. Also the new Asian-american wrestler, cheap heat such as this doesnt last for long at all.

I never thought Snitsky would last this long. Jeff Hardy however I thought would last, he HAD potential. Then he went and got on drugs and lost his passion for wrestling and started stinking up the ring and now TNA. A guy I thought wouldn't last in WWE for this long is Paul London. I love London, he is a great wrestler, but I just didn't see WWE keeping him for more than a few weeks. But he ended up getting a push and would still be getting one if damn Booker T hadn't broke London's nose.

I was shocked that Bastion Booger didn't catch on. (Sarcasm. No hate mail please.)

And what about Repo Man? He never got a chance to carry the big gold belt.

And where is The Red Rooster?

Oh where oh where has our Mordecai gone? Where oh where can he be?

Seriously the WWE, especially in the 80's, was a revolving door of bad gimmicks. Some of the guys who got stuck with them were good and deserved better. Some were worthless performers with gimmicks that suited them. Every week I go to Wrestlecrap.com for a chance to remember some of the oldies but baddies from yesteryear.
