Which do y'all think is better. X-box or the playstation 2?

playstation will always have the better variety of games but the standards will be sacrificed.

 

x-box is too big, too expensive (i payed £400 for my quality pc im not spending £300 on a console) plus the games dont look very good and any decent ones i'll get for my pc.

 

Gamecube - cheap price some quality games plus you've gotta have a soft spot for nintendo.

For now, the PS2 is the best, it has a great back catalogue and some great upcoming games. The X-Box is way more powerful but look at what it's getting, slightly updated versions of old PS2 games. Gamecube will beat X-box hands down I reckon.

Few questions...

 

1) Any news on the PS3? Or is just one of thise traditional "but the PS3 will destroy all competition" rumour, usually one that comes out after all the major companies show off.

 

2) Any idea when (or if) the price of the PS2 is coming down to say, £150?

I have a PS2, X-Box and GameCube and I have got to go with PS2. At the moment that is. When the GameCube start's to bring out game's like Shenmue 3 and all the Sonic's I think i'll like that better but I guess we got to wait until then.

i think's it's down to that price already..... either that or i somehow mistook the gamecube for the PS2

PS3 is apparently being researched at the moment but not being produced. It's at least two years away I reckon.

The PS3 is said to be coming out even sooner as sony are trying everything to stop the X-box becoming a sucess. There are also UNconfirmed reports that the PS3 will be completely online, be able to pick up radio stations and a load of other things.

The PS2 is an amazing machine , the X-box is pretty much the same machine only with a worse range of games, AND AT TWICE THE PRICE OF A PS2!!! The X-box is just Microsofts moneymaking machine. Microsoft makes me sick :sick:sick :sick :sick :sick

Solidus where did you get that information from? It sounds quite unreliable to me. I did hear similar rumours as to the quick release a few months ago but they were denied all round...

I have my ways of getting this info but if i told you then you'd know too much and i'd have to kill you :terminato .no seriously though a lot of this info' came from here and from a book.

The PS3 is not scheduled until 2005, and there has been no word on a price drop for the PS2.

PS4?

 

I found out a while back there might be a PS4 by 2007/2008. Sony said they were working on some kind of super computer chip with Phillips, which should be finished by then, and they're almost certainly gonna use it in a console. They would't use it in the PS3 because it would be too late to take on the X-Box. I'm not certain on all this, but you never know...

What the heck's this?:? It's not long ago that the PS2 come and you lot are on about PS3's & 4's!

I'll bet Bill Gates :devil has the x-box 2 in the pipeline. Remember, all he wants is your money!

Gaming scene never changes

 

PS2 - Same as PS1, over all best range of games.

 

Gamecube - Same as N64, some truly great games buried by

loads of crap

 

X-Box - Same as Dreamcast, one or two games you might like to play but aren't really bothered about.

 

I'll stick with my trusty PS2 and GBA but I can see myself buying a Gambecube in a few years.

Oh dear GOD!!!!! I was all up for spending my hard earned pennies on a PS2 and some quality games (GTA3, GT, MGS etc) and then I wake up hearing that MickeySoft have reduced the X-Box to only £199! I was in such a confused state, I just went back to bed.

i have a ps2 and god i love the thing, however i was thinking about getting a gamecube then heard that microosoft had cut the price of the x-box what should i do?

....i still say the gamecube will have better games and is still cheaper by about... oh £50-40-....i'm waiting till a kickass game(s)* come out, then i'm gonna get me an x-box...but until then...gamecube all the way

 

*yeah yeah i know halo and project gotham (is that the name?) are kickass games but i ain't into first-person shoot em ups and driving games tend to show my gaming faults

Tajiri's right. Gamecube and X-Box both have some great games coming, like N64 and Dreamcast did, but PS2 has more developers working on it, so it gets most of the best games.

Munch's oddysee: Showed potential, but ended up being another platformer, except with gamespeak.

 

Project Gotham: Not the most original game ever...

 

DOA 3: Alright, but with Tekken 4 and VF 4 out soon, why bother?

 

Halo: X-Box's best game, won't get recognition it deserves.

 

Most of the other games are either on other consoles or are **** enough that I can't remember them.

 

X-box lowered its price cos it's making no sales. Halo deserved a better console.
