Did anyone else watch this fight on Bravo last night or see it live? it went just as i predicted in the UFC 51 thread, Shamrock was pretty much blown out the arena by Ortiz. Nice to see them bury the hatchet at the end though. Also thought it showed how tough Shamrock is to take that beating to the point that the match was stopped where as most probably would have quit much earlier

That fight was from UFC 40. Tito Vs Shamrock might happened again, but that show was taped before UFC 51.

Great to watch though if you're partial to Tito, Shamrock's face looked like hamburger meat at the end of it.

ah okay russ, false alarm but yeah i think that if that is what happened last time then i guess Tito rattled his head really hard because no one would want to go again after that

After watching Ken's challenge after Ortiz vs Belfort, its obvious he's not worried about fighting Tito.

The fight at UFC40 was very one sided as Tito was at his best, Ken hasnt improved since then. I would wanna see the rematch, and although Tito had a dip in form, he showed he's back in business against Vitor, so I can't see this one being much different from the first fight

I'm not jumping the gun here and stating that Ken would beat Tito in a rematch, but Ken fought that entire fight with a torn ACL. For any of you unaware of what that is or the implications of such an injury, allow me to explain.

The ACL is a significant stabilising part in your knee. If it's torn, you can't really kick knee or shoot in with effective takedowns, also it limits your attack options on the ground. Ken thought he could win the fight despite the injury and clearly he was mistaken. Since then Ken has had his ACL repaired through surgery and he looked really impressive with his KO win over Kimo last year, which was by a knee to the jaw.

Ken has learned some new skills as he has been training with a bunch of new trainers such as former Shooto Champion Erik Paulson. So, you never know.

Exactly.

Stepping into the octagon with a torn ACL against anybody is highly impressive, but against Ortiz its a major show of guts. I have torn my patela tendon in the past which is not quite as severe as damage to the ACL, even still i know how painfull and restrictve it is. I have the upmost respect for Shamrock for even accepting the fight.

A healthy shamrock would be a very different matter for Ortiz. His outing against Kimo impressed me, i mean, Kimo is certainly no dummy. Shamrock looks somewhat like the Shamrock of old, whereas Ortiz hasn't impressed me for around 2 years now.

Maybe its just me, but i've found that this board is very anti-shamrock for some reason. It seems that alot of threads end up mentioning the Shamrock/Ortiz fight. Not alot of mention for the fact that The Iceman destroyed Ortiz back at UFC 47, but hey i might just be bias against Ortiz ;)
