In you opinion, what is Shawn Michael's greatest match in the WWE?

 

Mine would have to be the iron man match with bret and the Hell in a Cell match with Taker.

Mine would have to be the iron man match with bret and the Hell in a Cell match with Taker.

Does no-one else think the Iron Man match was poor? It was full of boring rest holds, and having no pins in the hour made in unbearable to watch again.

 

Awful match.

 

His best would be the Street Fight with HHH to me.

I wasn't watching wrestling during his first run (i.e. 1998 or earlier), but since his return, a few have stuck out:

 

- HBK/HHH from SummerSlam '02

- HBK/Angle from Wrestlemania 21

- HBK/HHH from RAW (Dec. 2003)

 

I think these ones are among his best performances (at least from what I've seen), but I haven't seen the majority of his matches (both recent and from 7+ years ago) so I'm sure he's had much better matches than the ones I've listed.

The Iron man match with Bret, to me, was a HUGE disappointing load of rubbish. Rest-hold mania was running wild in that match, it was pathetic. For two guys who could have done so something special, this match was terrible.

 

HBK's best match, IMO, were vs Mankind at In Your House: Mind Games, Cell in a Cell with Taker at Badd Blood and his No Holds Barred match with Diesel at IYH: Good Friends, Better Enemies. From 1996 - 1997, HBK was at his best.

Against Mankind at Mind Games. It was both wrestleres best matches.

I thought Bret vs. Shawn was a great match, it was just a great technical match and i can watch it all day, two of the best wrestlers for 60 mins, you can;t get better, i'm not saying it was Bret's best match though.

I'd have to agree with them picks, but i also enjoyed HBK vs. British Bulldog from WWE One Night Only.

 

Since his return I've liked his match with Triple H from Summerslam '02, it just totally shocked me that he could still wrestle. His matches with Benoit & Triple H from last year were first class, as was his match with Angle from this year's wrestlemania.

He has had tons of top quality matches but if i had to pick it would be between either vs Triple H at Summerslam 2002 or vs The Undertaker in the Hell in a Cell.

If I where to make a top ten it would be...

3. HBK v Undertaker, Bad Blood....

4. HBK v Jericho, Mania XIX

5. HBK v Angle, WM XXI....

8. HBK v HHH, Summerslam 2002

9. HBK v HHH, Raw late 2003

10. HBK v Benoit v HHH, Mania XX

 

And theres a few more that are first class...

The HIAC against Taker and the Mind Games matches have been mentioned already, along with the SS'02 streetfight, and I love all of them, along with his 2nd HIAC against HHH.....but I'm really enjoyed the Ground Zero, no contest against Taker......I don't know if it was just me, but it was really good and set up the following months debut of the HIAC.

I loved Armageddon 2002

I thought the iron man match, was ok, but not terrible like people make it out to be. I think it was built up too much, and people were expecting a classic, and when it wasn't, everyone went "oh it was awful", when in reality it wasn't, it just wasn't great.

 

For me, its either Manking at IYH: Mind Games or Taker at Badd Blood. Although I loved his matches against Jannety, and I always think they are highly overlooked.

The hell in a cell with the Undertaker, the SummerSlam match with HHH, and his match with Jericho at ManiaXIX are all great in their own way.

My top match is gonna have to be Iron Man Match with Bret. It was excellent full of fantastic wrestling by two amazing athletic Wrestlers. Although there were no pin-falls or submissions it was a fantastic match and inspired many wrestlers to become what them guys did in that one match. Also the finish really topped it off having Michaels overcome a massive lifetime dream

The HIAC match with Taker for me... and there was a tag match with HBK & Diesel vs. Ramon & 1-2-3 Kid on one of the shows like Action Zone or something like that, that was great :)

I don't see why people are saying the Ironman match wasn't good as it clearly was! Mybe belty watched it with a Hulk Hogan poster covering his screen, and 'real american' playing full blast on his stereo.

 

I liked his match with Sid at MSG a lot too.

its hard to pick one michaels match really...the man is quite simply an amazing in ring performer, even now 8 years past his prime

 

my favourite would probably be vs razor at WM10, vs taker at badd blood or vs angle at WM21

 

and the iron man match wasn't a bad match...not by any means

HBK has had some great matches over the years throughout his career.

 

A few indeed comes to mind for me:

 

 

1.The Elimination Chamber

 

2.Both ladder matches with Razor Ramon at WM and at Summerslam.

 

3.The 1st Hell in the Cell Match with the Undertaker.

 

4.The Ironman match with Bret Hart at WM.

 

5.His match with Big Van Vader.

 

6.When he and Stone Cold Steve Austin beat Owen and Davey Boy for the tag team titles.

I'm an HBK fan anyway, so they're all great, but the Ironman match, Elimination Chamber, and WM21 v Angle were spectacular :thumbsup
