Tongue in cheek, and not MGS4 graphics, maybe (the trailer is on the Snake Eater engine) but confirms Snake as lead and Kojima back in the director role. We'll also see Otacon, Ocelot and Meryl reappear (possibly putting four inbetween MGS and Sons of Liberty timeline wise) and connectivity with Acid 2 on psp.

no it's gonna take place several years after MGS2 plus online battles.

Actually MGS3 subsistence is the most interesting Gear announcement, if only for the MSX originals of Metal Gear 1 and 2 on the disc, in the west for the first time.

Please... no more metal gear... there isn't enough time in the day for the storylines!!!!

I don't know how they can have a game after MGS 1 with Meryl in it because in MGS she or Otacon gets killed in the end and as Otacon returns in Sons of Liberty it is obvious she has died in the game mythology

I never played the game so i would'nt know.

i don't know about Substance but she wasn't in the normal version of sons of liberty

Otacon doesnt get killed when Meryl is alive, Snake talks to him by Codec and then tells Cambell to pick him up at the end

ah okay so i guess the 'true' ending is probably the one where you save Meryl then as its controlled by a torture resisting mini game, and if you resist meryl is saved at the end, but i am still pretty sure she doesn't come back in MGS 2.

After you knock out the Russian girl on the boat in MGS2, there's a way you can get a message where Campbell calls you and says something like "It's a shame that things never worked out between you and Meryl" to which Snake replies "We were just too different to ever be together" or something like that, which suggests that they split up after the end of MGS1.

 

I like to think that she ran off with Psycho Mantis. He looks like a demon in the sack.

I think I remember something like that happeneng. Just replayed MGS1 the other day doesnt really show its age, graphics story and controls all hold up with modern games
