Just wanted to create a thread as tribute to undoubtedly one of the best games in a very long time. Its simple, its fun, its addictive, its a darn game which in a time of sequel and licence overhaul is a great, great thing. And budgeted at £25 (£17 on Play.com, free postage), The Behemoth and Zoo Publishing deserve a huge tip of the hat and salute. It originally started as an addictive net game, but with the backing of Zoo, The Behemoth were able to make it into a full fledged title three years on. Words can't describe how much I love this game, nonstop in my XBox since I bought it last week, an equal rival to Viewtiful Joe. Alien Hominid in two player harks back to the names when I played games nonstop, honestly at least give this title a rental.

Alien Hominid :worship

You can play the original here

And heres some screens from IGN:

Honestly if you do not own this already, or haven't played it get out there and ensure you do.

I've played the original on newsgrounds and thought it was awful. It suffers from 'sudden unavoidable death syndrome' where a guy comes onto screen right near you and fires before you can react unless you spend the whole time crawling which wont always work either
To be fair I haven't played the original on New Grounds, so can't really comment too much on that and will have to take your word for it as I still have the joys of Snail Up. But really, if you expect a masterpiece from a streamed three year old net game then thats a little harsh don't you think. Its like comparing Postman Pat on the Commodore to the Leaflet delivering mission in the seaplane on GTA Vice City.
There was an interview with the creators a few months ago in Nintendo Official Magazine. They seemed really excited to be involved in the game - very enthusiastic about it. I'll probably pick this up second hand in a couple months.
My PS2 broke so I can't get it. If they put it on the PSP I'd get it. Very entertaining, even if bloody hard.
Decent stuff, but preferring Metal Slug to be honest.
Talking of Metal Slug, I've picked up Metal Slug 3 on rental so will be giving that a play later. Can't go wrong with Metal Slug.
