Earlier tonight at the SmackDown television taping in Philadelphia, an injured Batista was forced to surrender the World Heavyweight Championship. A Battle Royal was then ordered to name a new champion, which was shockingly won by Kurt Angle.

YAAA! John Cena lost the belt, now Kurt is champ. Everything is right in the world now.

How does that work, as Angle is now on RAW?
What does this do to Angle vs HBK next week?

Whoever is making these decisions is a freakin hero!

Spot on decision to move Kurt back to Smackdown to add to the star power; nothing short of what Angle deserves in my book

And by the souns of the celebrations and the manner of victory, Kurt is a face again.

intruiging

The one thing I dont get, is WWE spoiling their own 'shocking' title change. Of course its to get people to tune in, but still. Spoiling your own show?
yoybenoit is on a 3-day cool-off for spoilers. If I could cool-off the WWE for the same thing, I would.

it is abit messed up with Kurt meant to face HBK on raw next week.. maybe that will be his last day on Raw.. who knows.. sounds good though

i salute Dave for one HELL of a title reign and he can hold his head high that he never got booed as champ and was never forced to drop the title by the fans.. and that he had a great title run and technically never lost it

but why are they advertising the title change already??? they could just advertise the battle royal on WWE.com.. instead they show a picture on Angle with the belt

Yeah Jimmy i agree there with what your saying

Usualy you can expect this from the Meltz or from anyone at wrestlingobserver etc.... But why spoil on your own website? i was shocked to loggon to wwe.com this morning, mayby theyve done it to make people tune in on friday night, but now i know whats happened i'll proberly go out and just watch the repeat

Yoybenoit this should have been posted in the offical SD thread, but saying that, wwe are even worse at spoiling for the fans

Who cares about Angle vs HBK, this is great!

According to PWtorch this morning, they are doing it because WWE hates sites like that delivering the results of matches before they've been aired, Linda Mcmahon apprently blamed wrestling sites for the low ratings a couple of years ago. So In WWE's on twisted logic, they've beat everyone else to it.

Vince v Meltz at mania in a match for the spoiler rights, i can see this :lol
Never seen this one coming! In one fell swoop, WWE have probably reignited my interest again. Go figure! I LOVE being surprised. Although the spoiler thing is verging on the bizarre, i reckon its as much to grab TNA limelight as it is to get fans to tune in. A cheap way of doing it granted, but pretty much standard McMahon tactics these days.

Can anyone see Michaels also goign to SmackDown!, just to add to their shows, and carry on the Angle feud? If not, I'd expect Michaels to go over for next weeks SmackDown!, for that match.

Great decision aswell. I love Angle, and was hugely p*ssed off about the way he was mistreated on RAW, especially jobbing to Cena, so it's nice to see him finally get some more success. Let's hope for a long reign, atleast until WrestleMania anyway, and when he does drop it, he doesn't fall back into midcard obscurity.

Yeah congratulations to Batista for being the longest heavyweight champion (9months and 7 days) in the last 11years, but with injury after injury, it was only right that Batista was asked to surrender the title.

What a major shock that Kurt Angle is the new Champion on Smackdown-thats twice in three days now that WWE have pulled off an incredible swerve. :xyx

Expect something like this every show. They saw the reaction Edge got for "shocking the world", so they are going to do it every week. They had "sex on TV", and now they've got Angle winning the title.

The World Heavyweight Title has only been around 3 years :)

Are you sure about that? Go read up on some wrestling history, then come abck and edit your post, and no one will think any less of you.

Are you sure about that?

Yeah, when the undisputed title (WWE and WCW unified, now known as the WWE title) was on SmackDown only, Bishoff created the title and handed it to Triple H.

When I say heavyweight title I mean World Heavyweight Title, WWE Title, WWF Title etc! :xyx
