Guest Andrew
So this week is E3, the biggest week in the gaming year and I think this year is going to be a great one for big announcements. I expect Sony and Nintendo to steal the show with announcements for Playstation 3 and the Wii, I'm very interested at the pricing structure for PS3, I have a feeling it's not going to be cheap at all. I wonder if they've redesigned the thing as well as the joypads since neither were warmly received when they showed them off last year as well. XBOX wise, I'm hoping we get to see a look at Halo 3 you just know it's going to be huge. So what's everyone else looking foward to this year from the show? Guest MrFill
Microsoft will HAVE to announce and show Halo 3 to try to keep up with Nintendo and Sony. The PS3 re-design will be interesting - and the pricing, since it'll be a BluRay player. As for the Wii, they're meant to have machines to play on there, so it'll be interesting - also, I wonder how many people will run off with the controllers. :D Apart from that, Gears Of War will definitely be worth seeing. Guest MojoPogo
PS3? = £450 at least unfortunately.....
Guest MrFill
Rumours put the US price of the PS3 at $399, which means it should end up in the UK between £300 and £400.
Guest MojoPogo
The era of £50 games anyone????
Guest MrFill
They already are - look at 360 games. On this subject - Microsoft has reported that they've lost millions of dollars in the first few months of the 360 being on sale - they expect to make it back with game sales. :P

wyndorf
I want to know the super amazing secret Nintendo have been hiding about the Wii. I'm also pant wettingly excited about Wario Ware Wii, which is quite possibly the greatest thing ever....EVER!
ViciousPrism
Ok heres the good point: There is a definate release dates for the PS3 And heres the big old list of bad pionts: Its gonna be expensive. $499 (probably £299 here) for a 20gig version WITHOUT HDMI or wireles!!!!!! $599 (probablu £399 here) for the best 60gig HDMI wireless and card slots. That a whole load of money for a Blue ray player that cant broadcast in true HD.... And what about the controller? Wireless. Has a "tilt function" thats supposed to rival the Wii, its not even gonna be close. oh and heres the rub. The dual SHOCK will NOT have a rumble feature! Yeah thats right the SHOCKS disturb the tilt function. Sony you just shot yourself in the head. The Wii and the Wiimote now look exellent! Looking like less then £150. You could get that AND a 360 for the price of a PS3. Sheesh....
Guest Andrew
They've said that the $499 Price dogs = 499 Euro's which probably means £499 for the UK which is absolute crap. Especially if they expect people to pay £599 for the full version. That's if they follow the usual rule that $499 = £499 as they do with everything console related. I've not read the full press conference yet (I'll do that at work) so I'll reserve full judgement till I've done so..... The controller thing is interesting..... I think maybe losing that lawsuit about the dual shock has made them take it out of their controllers and are using the tilt thing as an excuse. Guest Dutt
Nintendo conference is being broadcast live this afternoon on most gaming sites. Be there at 5:30!
Guest Anime Otaku
I was going to get a PS3 and a Wii but now I may consider goign to the dark side and getting a 360.
wyndorf
Well, what was surposed to be Sony's hour of glory turned out rather unimpressive. The price is a little extreme, especially as the 360 came out at £280 and has pretty much the same features. The motion sensors in the joypad scream of desperation, maybe they knew the price would cause unrest. From alot of reports, nothing gamewise really made an impact. One press man was particulary unimpressed with a high-res GT 4 with 2D backrounds.
Guest Slim Jim
It seems Sony are trying to wii on Nintendo with their new controller... I'll get my coat.
wyndorf
Super. Mario. Galexy! So, Sony's excuse for the lack of Rumble in their joypad was that it would upset the motion sensors, right? So how come the Wii wand has a far more advanced motion sensor system and rumble feedback..........and..........a built in speaker!!! My Nintendo fan boyism always rears it's ugly head at this time of year....

Guest Popsi
Thoroughly disapointed by Sony, its too expensive and im not all that impressed by the controller now that i know theres no rumble feature! I won't be getting on, not at nearly £500 for the version that theres any point buying.
Guest Andrew
I've had a good think about this today and to me it looks like Sony doesn't have a clue which direction to go at the moment. They've looked at XBOX 360 and thought XBOX Live is cool, we'll have that and they've taken all the best features from that. I don't blame them either because Live is superb I just hope they can do it justice. They've also looked at the Wii and taken the motion sensor technology from that controller and added it to theirs which by they way is back to the original dual shock design of PS2.... they must have got the hint about the bomerang :P Again though it's a smart move taking something like that. And then finally you have the PSP-Playstation connectivity, something originally started by Nintendo who have them selves said maybe it wasn't the best of ideas and was too complicated for some people. So what this leaves is a system with all the best features from other companies but with out a clear cut plan of it's own. There's no real meaning to the PS3, nothing new. OK you have a Bluray drive in it and even that hasn't been guaranteed a future yet as we enter the Bluray - HD DVD War. It really does feel like Sony have put all their eggs in one basked, will it pay off? Time will tell I guess, I reckon it will be successful no doubt about it but will it reach the heights of PS2? I seriously don't think so. The price tag is going to be a huge factor, £400-£500 come Christmas how many Mum's and Dad's are going to pay that much to keep the little one happy? I can't see many parents doing so, by then XBOX 360 will have come down in price and the Nintendo Wii will be on the market at a much more reasonable price. Christmas 2006 is going to be very very interesting... well that's if neither the Wii or PS3 delay any futher :P
Guest Andrew
Peter Moore of XBOX said in an interview that XBOX wasn't interesting in "winning E3" this year because he'd done that before with Sega. He was leaving it to Nintendo and Playstation....... Well I think he was lying out of his arse because the following has just been made official.... 12:22: "Major announcement about one of greatest franchsies of all time." Says its so exciting that he has to take his shirt off. Shows Halo 2 tatto--GRAND THEFT AUTO IV tatoo on other arm. Grand Theft Auto IV October 16 2007 to Xbox 360 ONLY Source Gamespot Grand Theft Auto IV is an XBOX 360 Exclusive! What an annoucement for team XBOX. Also they've just announced Halo 3 to which they've also shoved up the trailer for on XBOX Live for all that are interested. E3 = Better than Christmas :P Edit...... It sounds like GTA might not be a 360 Exclusive after all, it's not exactly clear. The 360 might have a 3 month exclusivity thing or they could be talking about the extra content which Rockstar have guaranteed for XBOX Live. We'll see as the next few days move on Edited May 9, 2006 by Andrew
RetroIC Gaming
The next generation console will be priced at €499 (£341.50) for a 20Gb version rising to €599 (£409.95) for the 60Gb model.
Guest Ravenmark
They aren't converting I don't think TGO - because it's going for $499 or something, they have to sell it at £499 for some absurd reason.
RetroIC Gaming
:eek I forgot to quote that, but cant remember where I found it.
Guest Nicole
Looks crappy to me personally. I'm glad I've got access to a 360 after this haha. Halo 3 is going to be immense, more games are exclusive on the Xbox in general, and they haven't farted around for months as they got the console out quickly. Oh and the Playstation controllers are complete crap, even the Nintendos going to kick its ass.
Guest A.C.
Nintendo Wii video from E3: If that controller use is accurate that I have no problem saying that the Wii is going to be the best thing since chicks with loose morals. It looks that damn good!
