D-Generation X - Who cares?!

Am I the only one who doesnt give two shits about D-Generation X? They were ok at the time, but that was almost 10 years ago and, like the nWo, they didnt age well. The whole crotch chopping thing seems so outdated and stale, it also holds no shock factor, which is what DX is supposed to be all about.

When they teased it in 2002, it seemed old news then, that was four years ago.

I dunno, there isnt much about a 40+ year old Christian HBK pretending to be cool or HHH who has moved so far above and beyond what DX was that I find interesting.

No, I'm with you Belty. I just think why bother?

I also don't buy into HHH and HBK suddenly being friends again after being bitter enemies for the last ten years. I also don't want to see yet another fued if they reform then eventually split again.

I wish they would just do it already, get it out of the way. And I agree there is nothing shocking or controversial about two 40 year old family men chopping their crotches. I do want to hear the old theme music again to see what kind of a reaction it gets.

If we can have a Hogan nostalgia trip once a year, we can have a DX nostalgia trip too :)

I'm looking forward to see how they do it. The place is gonna go INSANE when they finally pull the trigger, but as long as it is a small-term deal, I'm excited. With ECW coming and DX coming too, I'm loving RAW right now... bar last night.

Look what happened when they brought Hogan back in 2002 and they misused him, he fizzled after initial interest, whereas in 2005 when they used him properly, he drew a huge gate to SummerSlam. Now, do you REALLY think DX will be used properly? No chance.

As for it being a nostalgia trip or a short term deal, it doesnt seem that way at all, from all reports its to be a full time thing. Plus, Hogan is a special case, he is like the legend of all legends, he doesnt seem nearly as stale as DX does. Is yelling "Suck it!" or doing crotch chops shocking in 2006? No way, but DX got over on shock value, they wont get any in 2006. Plus, it was easy to buy into HBK and HHH as a pair of arrogant, crude degenerates in 1997, it was so easy to buy into it infact that it almost seemed (and at times might have been) a shoot. Can you buy into 40+ yr old bible bashing family man HBK as that now? Or HHH, who is married to the mob, as anti-establishment now that he IS the establishment? Its impossible.

This will fizzle quicker than the nWo in 2002.

Have you ever been to any WWE shows in the past year or two, and you see the small group of guys wearing their 1997 faded 2-sizes-too-small DX shirts? They are the ones the rest of the fans are slying taking the piss out of because they look like fools in those old stale shirts. DX has had its day, and even though guys like Hogan and Flair etc are older, DX seem like way older news than they do, they are so stale its not even funny. I'd saying bringing back the Horsemen would seem fresher than DX at this point.

Hulk Hogan wasnt missused in 2002' date=' he was used perfectly, except for when he won the Title, Hogan is on his way out, he should be used to put people over, as he did in 2002.[/quote']He was so misused in 2002 it wasnt even funny. Sure, putting people over is fine and he should have put over certain people, but being jobbed out on pretty much every single PPV match he was in? What does a win over Hulk Hogan mean when anybody and everybody can beat him? Come on, use some sense here.

I'm not going to get into a huge Hogan debate and chastized for turning it into that, but if you dont think Hogan was grossly misused in 2002, then you are insane.

Hogan and DX would work on the same level. If he used correctly, they draw in the short term. But after that, they don't draw, because people get sick of them quickly. Revisiting things works on the short term, but after that it doesn't ever really go anywhere, or change anything.

Exactly. Now build up a reunion on PPV between HHH and HBK, have them hit the crotch chops to each other on the RAW beforehand, and have say.. them v Edge/Foley, or them v Edge/Cena, or anything of the sort. A one night PPV reunion would be insanely over, especially if you give them the music and the shirts, just for one night.

It's not like its any worse than them bringing ECW back. I hope the creative team don't actually get paid for these "fresh new ideas"

another dx post. Well they doing there jobs at stamford we talking bout it. I want a one night deal and thats it then thats it done and they should announce its over. No need for a heel turn just let shawn and trips go their seperate ways.

I think crotch chops can stay just after they have flattened any rumours. I like the occasional crotch chops. Speaks louder than the finger and offends chicks a treat lol

A DX return will open up all kinds of merchandise - plus just look at the response the crotch chops and teases keep getting on Raw recently. It's smart booking and therefore it's good. I don't think D-X will split acrimoniously now, I got a feeling that the D-X angle will be HBK's fulltime swansong as it's heavily rumoured he's going part time like Taker has. Be a nice closure if Trips and HBK finally parted on terms.

Not at all, I LOVED the Radicalz. But anything with Benoit, Eddie and Deano Machino was gonna be great.

I am with all those who said DX returning is a bad idea, Vince does not need more money, as it is WWE makes enough to keep it going strong for many many many years so making more money should have nothing to do with it!

Vince cannot turn around and say the share holders etc are putting pressure on him to make money because they simply can't be, they make fortunes like he does and if that was the case why is he wasting his money signing anyone and everyone who will never be used

DX is a bad idea done for the wrong reasons, its old and stale and if it did come back it would not last long before people got fed up IMO

I'm split 50/50 on this one.

On one hand i want to see one of the greatest stables ever get back together and give us something entertaining. But on the other hand HBK & HHH were at each others throats in 2002 and 2004 with both of them saying they HATE each other, now i know that was just a storyline but are we as fans supposed to wipe our memories and forget it?

Another thing HBK is a man who said he was a small bit uneasy about turning heel because of his beliefs, then how is he supposed to turn into a foul mouth, crotch chopping degenerate?

Dam right why should the TANGO man get a run out whenever he wants a pay check just cus he was good 20 years ago. D-X for a few weeks for a final send off will be a bit of fun thats all!

Who cares?

I do. I started watching WWF in the DX era, and was so punped back in 2002 when they teased DX coming back.

Now. with the perfect build. HHH going slightly face, and HBK waging war against the McMahons, it's a perfect time.

Also Belty, if you look at it from a kayfabe standpoint instead a snarks one, it makes perfect sense. HBK is going anti-establishment and is doing what he pleases, and HHH is fading into the heel/face gray zone where he doesn't abide by any rules set by his character or the fans.

Just to hear "Are You Ready.........................BREAK IT DOWN" again is going to make me a silly little mark all over again.

NWO 2002 wasn't that bad, they were actually damn good until Wrestlemania.

If people are wondering how Triple H and HBK can get back together after they were at their throats.

Well, history has shown that at times people join forces when they have the same enemy.

Because Hogan comes in for a short term deal, does his thing and buggers off again, DX isnt going to be a few weeks or a "final sendoff" as you put it, its going to be a full time thing according to everybody reporting it. Hardly a bit of fun, is it?!

Kayfabe is dead mate, sorry. WWE cannot expect people to abide by the rules of kayfabe when they see fit all the while running shoot angles on TV which make kayfabe a complete joke. That being said, even if kayfabe were still in full effect, regardless of HBK turning anti-establishment and HHH not wanting to abide by the rules, why does that automatically make it sensible to portray two guys who were killing each other for two solid years best buddies all-of-a-sudden? Its stupid. Edited by Paul
