On a lighter note...

I feel the need to note this. Before the PPV, I found myself sitting next to a couple of kids, aged probably about 12. I had my replica World heavyweight belt with me, so I let them hold it and check it out. They were full of excitement, talking about wrestling. One of them gave me his history of Evolution. As I was sitting in the arena, there was a little girl 2 seats over from me, probably 6 or 7... and a small boy about the same age the row in front of us. for a little bit, I was able to remember what it was like being young and completely buying everything about pro-wrestling. Before the internet, before I knew what I know now. This little girl, she jumped out of her seat and was jumping around like crazy for a Lashley kick-out. it really made me smile, and if I had seen the father after the show, I would have thanked him for that. No matter how ling I've watched wrestling, no matter what I know...it's about the kids. they are the ones that can still enjoy the magic and not be the doubting "fans" that many my age have become.[/Quote]

to be honest i don't know exactly why i posted this but after reading it it made me smile, it's taken from a guys Judgement Day report

it is true all the bitching we do (including me) but we forget wrestling is real to kids (still doesn't excuse Cena as champ) and is special even if it's lost the 'spark' to older guys, when i went to wembley to see Raw i was sitting next to a kid who marked out when HBK came out and went ape **** and it made me smile seeing how excited this kid got and to see how real the thing seemed to be for him

as i said not sure why i posted this.. just thought you guys may like to read it.

Yeah I took my friend's two sons (aged 12 and 9) to the Wembley Raw house show in 2004, and as it was their first ever Live experience of WWE, they absolutely loved it. They were jumping up and down, holding up their signs that I bought for them, and going completely nuts for the whole night. It brought a huge smile to my face, and they couldnt stop talking about it for weeks.

What do you guys think of Hulk Hogan's thoughts in that a lot of the goodness has been taken out of wrestling and it sets a bad role model for kids? He claims when he main evented, his message was wholesome. He finds role models like DX and wrestlers who use crude language to be disgraceful.

I agree with Hogan in that wrestling was much more wholesome (on the outside, anyways) in Hogans day and his message was great for kids. My son adores Hogan and I'm much happier seeing him pose and put his hand to his ear than some 5 year old kids in 1999 who were yelling "Suck it!" and so on...but times change, wrestling needed to change in order to get back its popularity, even Hogan realises this in reality as he changed with the times but still...

i stil enjoy getting caught up in wrestling though and getting pulled into the world of it all (untill things like the God stoyline happen), but kids see it as real and that's really cool

Yep, wrestling was only really truly amazing and exciting to us when we were younger because we thought it was all real life stuff. Well I did anyway.

I wish I was still like that. When I started out watching I didn't have any internet source so I didn't know any results or spoilers or anything but when I discovered it, in a way it spoils it but at the same time i'm growing up and don't need to hide the reality of Wrestling.

It's funny because now and again my cousin will ring up and he's about 11 and he recently said why has Kane gone eveil again over May 19th, I don't like him when he's like that ;)

Bret Hart along with loads of other wrestlers felt the same way...

But like Belty said, "times change."

But hey I STILL mark out like an eight year old kid when warranted, and I always will!:xyx

i think some of this is true but kids change with the times. And we now have kids with attitude and people like dx and (cant belive im saying this) Cena is good for them. Hogan just out of loop a little although he can still make people scream it tends not to be kids and like 25 year old kids at heart, which is equally as cool.

I have a young nephew and he is just getting into wrestling and man its great seeing him discover it for a first time and in a way it makes me get into it a little more as i find my self reacting with him we we watch it. Great post btw

replica belts are so stupid
Why???????

If you are a kid and you have a replica of your fave wrestlers belt, and he holds his up as you do the same.....it would be amazing to be that child for that moment in time.....

And if you're talking about replica belts on adults......so what, belts are cool.

Back to the main post.........

That made me smile sooooo much. I miss that feeling of disbelief (although iut does arise now and again).....and watching Becky's two sons when RAW, Smackdown!, TNA or the Japanese feds on TWC, and their reactions to it are amazing.

Richard (whose 9) was watching Smackdown! when JBL said Rey would battle Khali the following week.....and to see his face was a joy. That look of fear for one of his favourites, that I don't have anymore, made me realise why I got hooked in the first place. The following week against Kane was even better. He doesn't know that Khali isn;t a great wrestler, all he knows is that he is a huge monster who beats up EVERyONE.

I miss feeling like that.

That tales probably more heart-warming and smile-inducing that the original post. I miss completly believing the product is real. Sure, I can still "mark out" but deep down... :(

And the cutest thing is he's like that a lot... However his little brother who is 5 tends to be more vocal about it...as in "HEY you big man, get off Rey Mysterio" (always the full name...) and "Mummy is he going to kill him this time?" about various things...

Although both of them scream "619" when appropriate!!!

I like to think i still have a lot of that innocence when it comes to watching-as much as I try to convince myself that they're ok, I don't half cringe sometimes... And you will often find me shouting at the tv telling various wrestlers to "leave him alone" etc...

You mean like when Keenan took the Styles Clash wrongly at the last 1PW show and you could hear the whole crowd go "oooooh". :D

I have to say, this is my favourite post of the year so far. Its very heartening for a big "man-child" like myself to see that others still have the urge to mark out within them! All hope is not yet lost!
