Saving Smackdown: Is a faction the right idea?

Hey guys. The recent performances on Smackdown in recent weeks have been a real concern, this show is seriously flagging. I think a new stable could be the solution to boost ratings. The one i have is anngle that has been done several times but i feel it still carries some credibility.

An anti-American group consisting of Regal, Finlay, Burchill, Psicosis, Little *******, and the returning Chris Benoit. The idea would be to give this group a massive heel push by covering them with every title available(Regal and Burchill as tag champs, Finlay as US Champ, Psicosis as Cruiser, and Benoit as World.) These guys would feud with the likes of Rey Mysterio, Batista, and Bobby Lashley. Could you imagine some of he angles between Regal and the Liuttle *******? What o you guys think?

I hope i never see another Anti-American group for aslong as i live, they've been done over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again in every single wrestling promotion on the face of the earth, and to be honest, they've never really been done well.

We've already got King Booker's little faction, what more do you need? Also, the difference between SmackDown's ratings today and in say 2000, is probably the same as the difference in Raw's ratings between today and 2000.

What about Team Canada in TNA ? They have done well for themselves !

An anti-american group is not the right remedy for smackdown although a new heel stable might be a good idea if executed carefully and patiently.

Personally I would like to see the four horsemen in WWE with the following members;

Leader - Ric Flair (strictly a managerial role with no wrestling involved)

Member 2 - Ken Kennedy (the group's United States title contender)

Member 3 - Chris Benoit (re-joining the horsemen as their world title contender)

Member 4 - James 'Jamie Noble' Gibson (dump the pitbulls idea and he could be the group's cruiserweight title contender plus would he look that bad in a suit ???)

Valet - Sensational Sherri (her experience and tricks of the trade would be invaluable to the group plus her and Flair at ringside would be a lot for a referee to handle)

Team Canada has been done before in WCW (and WWE under different names), and now has run its course in TNA.

Putting Kennedy in a faction is a bad idea, the guy needs autonomy.

Another stable would be an African-American group fronted by Teddy Long, consisting of Booker, Sharmell, OJ, Mark Henry and Lashley. Smackdown also needs some success in any forthcoming drafts. Randy Orton leaving for Raw was ridiculous, what was the point in drafting him to Smackdown for in the first place. Kane and Chris Masters would be welcome additions to the Smackdown roster.

Smackdown doesnt need saving, it just needs the time for its talent to return from a long list of injuries, and the developing of some decent fueds, without talent getting injured two weeks into a fued.

When such stars return, then drafts from Raw will be released to Smackdown and the show can move forward and improve

#1 that doesn't make sense #2 it still doesnt change the fact that the show is rubbish (unfortunately). Do you really judge how good the show is on how many other fans are watching it?

Why? Because he annouces himself in the ring? He is overrated and rubbish in ring to be fair. Alot like him tag up to mask such weakness.

No I don't, but the guy who posted the thread said the ratings were rubbish, so I was trying to put it into context with the buisness as a whole. Personally, I think SmackDown is most weeks much better than Raw.

If I judged wrestling by the ratings than I would not enjoy the TNA product and would simply be another biased WWE fan,I like both of them because more often than not they entertain me and that is what it is all about !

Well, perhaps putting a face faction up against Finlay, King Booker and Regal would work. You know, have those three (and Little *******) beating up Lashley, but through the crowd come, say, Matt Hardy and Chris Benoit. The next week they say that they are "sick and tired of Finlay, Regal and King Booker thinking they own this show", and so a feud starts.

Team Canada, what do they have in common? they all Canadian.

The Hart Foundation, what do they have in common, they were all connected to the Hart Family in one way or another.

Lashley, Benoit & Hardy, what do they have in common, err....nothing.

Booker is a King, English people have Kings, Regal is English, England is next to Ireland, Finlay is Irish. Duh.

gunner scott and matt hardy should be in a stable, their match with regal and finlay was great last week on smackdown. they're two talented guys and with someone with decent main event status like lashley, batista or rey as leader it could be good and feud with booker's posse. with lashley you can have the US title involved too. benoit has already taken gunner under his wing and if he's coming back anytime soon, it would make more sense putting him with these 2. it could also elevate benoit to where he should be at.

Benoit is out for a while so he can be discounted

Seeing Gunner Scott and Matt Hardy came and made the save for Lashley last week, I can see it being them and Lashley versus the Kings court...

Gunner Scott is soooo boring. He's got zero charisma, and absolutely nothing that makes him stand out. My plans for him wouldnt be putting him in a faction or tag team, but just giving him his pink slip.

Booker,Finlay and Regal all found fame in WCW before WWE-that is what they have in common

Stables aren't the answer to everything. Smackdown isn't that bad either, the online community just think worse of it than everyone else. Of the two shows, until RAW stepped up recently with the Spirit Squad rising in stature, Edge proving himself to be a top heel and DX returning I would have watched Smackdown by choice over RAW.

I have tried to like him but he looks ordinary and boring plus his name is annoying

I think he'll make a gradual impact. When the Spirit Squad and Umaga first debuted there wasn't much enthusiasm, now they are building themselves up and climbing the ladder. Scott is very much in the Benoit mould, he'll never be a standout performer on the stick but I think he'll be a solid worker. I've liked his in ring style.
