Guest Howie
Isn't it obvious... ever since God's return at Backlash, He has become a locker room leader.
Guest Da Showstoppa
I don't know. Perhaps it's a result of the hard life and poor choices they made whilst on the road - catching up with them. For example Shawn felt there was a piece of him missing and his wife (a Christian herself) showed the way by example. Mike
Guest Root
So many? I was only aware of HBK and Ted DiBiase. Who else falls into this category? Not that it matters to me mind, just curious now.

It's not just wrestlers, its thousands of people around the World who become born again Christians. Who knows: it could be anything from going through testing times in their lives, to trying to turn their lives around. :xyx

wyndorf
There is another side to the finding God coin...... My personal opinion is that alot of these guy's 'find God' so that can then be at one with other wrestlers and the bookers who they let down so many times. "I'm a changed man, I've found God, please hire me back" I am of course a very cynical man.

I believe Nikita Koloff, Greg Valentine and Superstar Billy Graham are also "born again" Christians.
Guest MrFill
People usually "find God" if they feel that something is missing from their life, or they feel unfulfilled. So, they look at God as a way to fill that void, and thus they feel happier within themselves.

Guest Dave7g
Some people find God, some find Scientology, some find some other cult or whatever. It's down to low self esteem or desperatley trying to find an excuse for bad behaviour or whatnot. Some people are brainwashed from birth too. They are all the same really... Pure fiction (IMO)

Guest Shoobinator
I think years of drugs and fast women on the road makes wrestlers feel guilty thus making them want to do some good in the wrold, and they find following god is a ood way to do that. Guest MrKnow
Life on the road for a young star, is an exhausting one, where long periods away from home comforts, family and friends lead to choices being made that some regret later on, when they have a more stable family life. I suppose then repenting for past misdemenors is the only choice !
Guest DarkMatchJobber
http://www.spaceandmotion.com/Images/corregio-jesus-christ-christianity.jpg 1) Why don't we rename TWO the Born Again Christians Forum ? 2) Wrestlers are people too, they change and their attitudes occasionally change too which explains re-discovering christianity so let's leave it at that and close this thread. 3) I've been told some of my threads are dumb so I guess I am not the only person with a non-perfect record on here judging by this thread. 4) When one of your longest member has had enough you know things are bad (Draven)
Guest SuperKick Kid
1) Why don't we rename TWO the Born Again Christians Forum ? That forum would be Sting's forum right here: http://www.therealsting.com/forum/index.php? Argue with them about faith, if you dare. As for wrestlers finding God, I believe they do it because they feel that they need to change the way they live their lives. I suppose then repenting for past misdemenors is the only choice ! Bands spend a lot of time on the road and you don't hear that that many of them are Christians or born agains. There are a few bands who are religious, but nowhere near as many as wrestlers seem to be. It is odd.
Guest Adam Gill
Vince Russo is another wrestler who became a born-again Christian. Well, I suppose he isn't a wrestler . . . saying that he won the WCW World title. :D Russo has even started a wrestling promotion based on Christianity. :eek http://www.ringofglory.com/ I'd love to go to one of their shows. I bet they have prayers instead of promos. :lol
Guest Anime Otaku
How on earth did we get this far into a thread with no mention of Jake 'The Snake' Roberts who apart from Shawn Michaels is probably the most well known Born again Christian in Wrestling. Bands spend a lot of time on the road and you don't hear that that many of them are Christians or born agains. There are a few bands who are religious, but nowhere near as many as wrestlers seem to be. It is odd. If you're in your teens and start a rock band you're likely to love the music, but you're probably also likely to be looking forward to the partying, hedonistic lifestyle. Apart from the last couple of generations of wrestlers, it would appear that people who went into wrestling were not completely aware of the sort of life it would be. The peer pressure, the aches, the drugs, the women and so on. It's not a huge leap to suggest that those wrestlers who become born again weren't naturally chasing that sort of life but woke up one day and found that they'd gradually turned into something they never wanted.
