Saturday Night's Main Event fallout

July 17, 2006

Monday night in San Antonio, Texas, RAW will be left to sort through the fallout of Saturday Night's Main Event.

In the main event of SNME, John Cena defeated Edge by DQ when Lita smacked the referee. Cena had Edge in the STFU at the time, and thought that the bell signified the tap out. When he found out it was a DQ instead, Cena snapped, putting Edge through the announcers' table with an FU. While the Rated-R Superstar is still the champion, this war is far from over. What will happen on RAW?

Moving from Champions to the Chairman—can Mr. McMahon finally get one over on D-Generation X? The last few weeks on RAW, the Chairman has been the butt of DX’s pranks, and at SNME, DX locked him in a holding cell at ringside after dominating the Spirit Squad. Will this be the week the McMahons get back in the driver's seat?

Also, one of the finalists in the 2006 $250,000 Diva Search Contest will be eliminated. The fans have voted, and someone will be sent packing. Who will be the first contestant to depart?

*NOTE: The above spoiler tag contains Saturday Night's Main Event spoilers, so if you haven't seen the show yet, then please do not open.

It really is about time the SS & Vince got one back on DX. With DX going over the whole time it makes the feud meaningless.

The preview changed very slightly, it just includes a bit about the Cena/Umaga match. Besides the Diva Search, all we got confirmed is Cena Vs. Umaga. I have a feeling Edge will get involved. The only thing I like about Umaga is that we get to hear Estrada when he's around.

Agreed Vince needs to have something up his sleeve to stop DX. its just been all DX at the moment so its really about time vince does something to get one back on DX. Umaga & Cena:eek should be a interesting match long may Umaga's streak continue:D

The diva search will only take up one segment so i wouldn't not watch Raw on the basis they are appearing. If i were you i'd make a cup of tea or switch the channel when the diva's are on. Every fan has parts of the show they dislike this doesn't mean that the whole show is poor.

I'd like to tell you that Raw is worth watching this week but as usual Raw is a live broadcast so it's hard to say if it's worth your while watching. If your a WWE fan there should be something that tickles your fancy.

Is it just me, or has (somewhere around) the second half hour of Raw been outshining the rest of the show for the past couple weeks?

Latest from WWE.com says that Cena will take on Umaga tonight. That I will enjoy but this probably means that Umaga's streak will be broken and he'll never get his main event PPV push, not for a while anyway.

I'm expecting a dirty win. Maybe Edge, but Armando with the assist would be nice to see. There's no way Umaga's going over clean. But I don't see them breaking Umaga's streak on Raw.

You can now enjoy Umaga's thumb finisher on heat! He did a sweet Samoan drop mind, his finisher is really weak though.

Or perhaps Cena to "snap" again, giving Umaga the win by DQ, but also leaving Cena looking "strong". Or a no contest. Actually, a no-contest is fairly likely, all things considered.....

What peeves me is that Cena never EVER looses clean, and yet he's one of the most over guys who doesn't need all the protection that just makes his opponents look crap.

Samoan Spike > Canadian Destroyer

It's a thumb to the neck, my grandmother (whos been dead for several years) could easily pull that off with some pullys and some ropes. The Canadian Destroyer is a little more pleasing to the eye.

But if he lost clean, then it'd start to dispel his "Superman Comeback" persona.

Every match he gets beaten the hell out of, and then suddenly pops up like nothing has happened and wither gets the win or his opponents have to cheat to beat him.

Hogan *Cough*. Could someone please explain to me why the crowd can on Cena's case, but back in 85 to 93 in the WWF the fans never turned on Hogan. There pretty much he same, but if anything Cena is a better In-Ring worker!

They did turn on Hogan slightly. The only live wrestling on TV back then was PPV's, the crowd turned on Hogan at the 92' Rumble when he pulled Sid out, only for WWF to stick some cheers over the boos when it was shown on clips and for the Video releases. Thats the only time I noticed it though, there were more instances I'm sure.

Because they've taken away the only thing people used to like about the man... and they've turned him into The Stone Rock Hulk.

Because back in 85 it was all about cartoon gimmicks, and in 93 people barely knew about kayfabe.

Now people know a LOT more about wrestling, the fact that Cena springs up and acts like he's not been hurt is even worse.

True that Cena is a better worker, but Hogan has his history, so people still pop for his routine.

Not to mention that even after Hogan "hulks up", he's still beatable if his opponent can beat him down again. Cena is unbeatable once he goes into no-sell mode.
