I am a big football manager fanatic and football manager 2006 was a king amongst games. The realism of it and sheer brilliance of si to create one of the greatest games ever has me licking my lips in anticipation of the new football manager game. Currently there is no BETA demo out for it but i have been on the look out and will try to inform you when it will be ready. Currently the launch date it set at the 20th October (a month tommorrow) and i believ the time is right to have a thread on this.

So who will be buying it (ÂŖ24.99 from play.com) and what do people anticipate from it?

This game looks bloody awesome. I'll be hopefully getting it.

I shall be purchasing my copy without fail. Months after release no doubt, but nonetheless.

To my knowledge you can enlist yourself as a BETA tester for the game from the SI website....I think.

Will you be able to tap players up? Accept transfer bungs?
Hehe, well they do say they offer ultimate realism. :lol
Still playing FM 2005, just have too good of a game going ith Crippler that we have been playing for 18 months. Going on to season 18 now. Be a nightmare when that career ends, I guess then I will get 2007

Can you call one of your players a useless muppet with no understanding of the basic skills of the game then fine them for the sake of it ? :D

Think I'll play CM 01-02 in a moment and see whether I can get a first division/championship side into the premiership.

I would call that the Viduka option.

I like more random stuff to happen in match, like streakers or matches being abandoned due to freak weather. Or the ability to completely spit the dummy when i lose........just like..*censored*....

Look at you, you really cant stop can you :lol

Chairmans can be brought out etc, you can set up feeder clubs, more media stuff. Looks good and theres loads more stuff that I cant name.

I'm like Pringles, baby.

SI were talking about 100 new features, but are being very vague about them. But Spong has some of them here, the feeder clubs really interest me:

Feeder Clubs - Brand new to Football Manager 2007, and one of the most requested features on Sports Interactive’s forums has been the addition of feeder clubs to the game. This new addition works in all the ways you would expect it to in real life. You can establish your club as the small team who receives loan players from a larger club or a large club looking for support getting your youngsters match experience by loaning them out. Have the first option on players from clubs, and schedule pre-arranged friendlies each season by simply asking your board for a feeder relationship and choose from the list they compile.

Youth Revamp - A complete revamp of youth teams sees full youth squads for each team that has a youth set-up, thus giving a much better system for the regeneration of players in the long term game.

User Friendly – Football Manager 2007 gives players a new easier to use default skin, along with hints and tips throughout the game, and an improved tutorial. In addition to better feedback from your assistant manager and scouts as well as lots more media, customisation and multiple row selection, all this adds up to the most user friendly Sports Interactive game ever.

Scouting Revamp - A complete revamp of the scouting system inside the game leads to more information about players and teams being made available to managers, as well as a more realistic methodology for player scouting. This system allows scouts to grow and improve their knowledge-base of the world’s football players.

Player Interaction - You can now talk to any player in the world via the media. Player interaction allows you to tap up other teams stars or see if players will buckle under the pressure. An effective manager must use the media as a motivational tool - why not praise your own players in many different ways or shout at them for loss of form?

Team Talks - For more varied ways to talk to your team, SI have worked hard to deliver vastly improved team talks at half and full time. Not only this, but pre-match team talks will now be making their first appearance in Football Manager - so you can send your team out onto the pitch with a specific briefing.

Sports Interactive plans to release a demo of Football Manager 2007 next Sunday, 1st October, for PC, Mac and Intel Mac.

The news was picked up by our dull and Internet-bound-on-a-Saturday-night eyes via a forum post, in which the developer also elaborates on the demo's contents:

"The vanilla version will include the English and Scottish quickstarts, and English language only, with limited assets (logos and player pictures etc).

"This will be available from the News Of The World's website in conjunction with Play.com, to try and maximise the bandwidth available. The link to this will, of course, be on sigames.com when it's released at midnight.

"The strawberry version will include extra quickstarts, and extra languages (to be confirmed), with more assets. This will be available initially as a torrent only, also at midnight, from www.sigames.com."

The reason for the News of the World thing, apart from Miles Jacobson's desire to burn in the flames of hell, is to ensure maximum exposure.

Naturally we'll remind you about it once it's up. In the meantime, head over to the Sports Interactive forums for more information and lively debate. For example, about how Liverpool crushed Spurs today.

Crushed them.

Football Manager 2007 will be available in "as many territories as possible" on 20th October.

For anyone who didn't preorder, so hasn't got the game already, Sega and SI have released this statement:

As a result of certain retail outlets ignoring the official release date of October 20th, SEGA and Sports Interactive have acted to ensure that Football Manager 2007 is available to all of our loyal fans. We are in the process of communicating this new date to all of our retail partners.
