Finally released today Stateside, the return of the Sam and Max series in the form of episodic content provided via Gametap. We have to wait to wait 1st November to get our mitts on it, and for those not eager to download it in the episode format, Telltale have said they will be releasing each season of episodes (depending on how long they go for, so get buying!) in a hard format after they've all hit Gametap for a while.

The first review of the first episode 'Culture Shock' has hit Eurogamer (click here for the review). I seriously can't wait to play it, even if it shades in comparison to 'Hit The Road', just for the greatness of the Sam and Max characters themselves.

Finally got round to downloading this today, as it was released for us yesterday as I said before. I'm pretty impressed, and for around ÂŖ5 I'd say it's a bloody good bargain for what you get. You can preorder the whole series, which is said to be released in the Spring on disk, but I'm not sure if us UK peeps can have it sent to us.

Pleased so far with what Telltale have done with the game (it is quite easy but then that might due to recently playing BS:The Angel of Death which was the other extreme), and they have kept the spirit of the original. Even despite them going for 3D, it does Sam and Max justice. Some gags are hit and miss, they have used different people for the voices...all minor nibbles. Certainly sets a good groundbase for the future episodes.

It can be downloaded from Telltale Games website, I bought mine with Paypal.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but Episode Two of the Season 'Situation Comedy' is now available for download from Telltales website.
Only played the demo of the first episode so far. Wasn't expecting much (sequels to old works hardly mouth-froth-inducing prospects) but was pleasantly surprised - the character of the first game's largely survived the years intact. Will take some getting used to the new voices (they're not that different, but heartbreakingly noticeable to someone who spent as much time as I did on the original) and the conversation doesn't flow as brilliantly as it did in Hit The Road. But if my credit card was worth the plastic it's printed on I'd snap it up right away :)
Just started the first episode. Very coolio ineedio. And so far easy. I like them when they're easy.

Heres some details on the titles of the next two episodes in the season:

Each Sam & Max episode will debut exclusively on GameTap, with Sam & Max Episode 3 "The Mole, the Mob, and the Meatball" coming next on January 25. On February 8, fifteen days after the GameTap premiere, this episode becomes available for purchase from http://www.telltalegames.com. Sam & Max Episode 4, titled "Abe Lincoln Must Die!" and Sam & Max Episode 5 "Reality 2.0" will begin distribution in the following months. While each installment features a self-contained story, the episodes also reveal clues about an insidious foe that will challenge the crimefighting duo as never before in a truly out-of-this world season finale. The title of the season's epic concluding episode will be revealed in the coming months.

I'll put the rest in spoiler tags as it spoils Episode 2 slightly:

This new product section reveals The Mole, The Mob, and the Meatball as the title of episode 3 in Telltale Games' Sam & Max series, expected for release next month. Word is: "The commissioner is looking into an underground operation at the Ted E. Bear Mafia-Free Playland and Casino, but the mole he sent in has suddenly gone quiet. To find the mole, Sam & Max must infiltrate the operation and become members of the Toy Mafia themselves."

Theres some screenshots for Episode 3, here.

Telltale Games has revealed on the Jobs section of their website they are working on a game for the Nintendo Wii. They don't come right out and announce what the project will be, but there are several clues about what kind of game we're looking at here.

Clue number one is that Telltale has previously said they were in talks with Nintendo to bring the Sam and Max series to the Wii.

Clue number 2 is the job listing on Telltale Games' website. It states any applicants must "Modify and support existing art and production path to accommodate Wii production" on the project. In other words, they will take an exisiting Telltale property and modify it for the Wii. Telltale's properties include:

# Sam and Max

# CSI

# Bone

# Ankh

# Law and Order: Criminal Intent

# Al Emmo

# Samorost

While that doesn't make Sam and Max the definite choice, it does make it the obvious one.

Sam and Max to hit the Wii road, maybe. Looking more and more concrete after Telltale showing an interest when they brought back Sam and Max. Bone would be a good fit to the Wii too. But Sam and Max, hopefully with a new adventure seperate to the running Season on Gametap, on the Wii, superb.

Episode 3: The Mole, the Mob, and the Meatball is available now to download from Telltales website: here.

Been giving it a quick whirl, and it's another thumbs up from me thus far.

i dont have the game but i bet its a awsome game im lokking forward to buying it

Sam: "We should head for the casino, Max."

Max:"Oh good, I've been looking for something to do since I found out that Sudoku didn't involve ritual suicide."

Just completed it, and it is a tad shorter than the last two episodes, but the storyline (particularly the opening and climax) is improving and the humour is improving too, while not as edgy as Hit The Road, which is a minor quibble. I didn't notice until this episode that Max's new voice actor changed from episode one to a new voice actor for two and three. I actually prefer the newer new voice actor. Would be great to have the originals though.

On another note, you can purchase from Telltale both episodes of Bone (the updated directors cut versions) together, for $19.99. Well worth a gander at, and demo's are available to give it a whirl if you wish.

Episode 4 Trailer: Abe Lincoln Must Die

To couple the with the news of Sam and Max on the Wii, Telltale are now also advertising for a Xbox 360 Systems Programmer who will be responsible for “implementing our core 3D graphics and audio systems on the Xbox 360” with a preferred “Love of adventure games”. Could mean Sam and Max, Bone and maybe even the CSI titles hitting the XBox Live Arcade, or even some full games based on the properties.

Either way it's looking like Sam and Max are back for good. And frankly, theres no enough love being shown, even if the episodes aren't completely fulfilling their promise it's frigging Sam and Max people.

Just a quick note that tomorrow marks the release of Episode 4, downloaded/purchased again from Telltales website. Said to be the best episode to date, heres a little taster:

Rerelease of Hit The Road, and Telltale near enough confirming a second season, it's all going swell.

Episode 5, Reality 2.0 was released worldwide today on the Telltale Games site, and thus far has to be the best one thus far. Details of Episode 6 The Bright Side of the Moon, the last episode of this first season, are also up on Telltales site.

Clickity click.

The last episode has been released this morning on Telltales website, the afore mentioned Bright Side of the Moon. As I mentioned before the whole series is getting released on CD thanks to Jowood, but if you are interested and can, I advise you take advantage of the great deal on offer at the moment for the downloads. Lincoln Must Die and Reality 2.0 in particular are worth the cash.

Season 2 has been confirmed, and in the meantime I'm going to get stuck into Bone (well when I get through this episode). But overall up and until this point, I think it's been great. Sure some flaws like repeated areas, and characters being recycled whom are not as strong as the original side characters; but the humour overall has been great in it's own right. The difficultly level hasn't been too tough overall, but again I think it's a minor niggle. With everything now set in place, I have high hopes for Season 2. So give Season One a try if you haven't already.

So, what's new?

You mean apart from the slew of new characters and stories brimming -- overflowing even -- from the idea pot that is Season Two (possibly staining our new carpet in the process)? How about...

Changes to all the recurring locations, and a few brand new ones! More lively NPCs who move around the world instead of standing rooted to one spot like pieces of furniture! Even more bizarre scenarios that will take Sam & Max from the arctic to the tropics and beyond! All-new, unique mini-games in every episode! Characters who pipe up of their own accord with useful information if they think you're stuck!* Updated driving game with improved controls and the ability to upgrade your DeSoto! ... Flint Paper!

Also, Sam can run now if you want him to, and the games will finally support those giant widescreen monitors the kids seem so crazy about these days.

*You smart guys who don't want hints can turn this one off.

When will Season Two start?

Season Two will begin its six month world domination strategy with Episode 201: Ice Station Santa. The episode will debut for GameTap subscribers on Thursday, November 8th, and appear for purchase and download on the Telltale Games website on Friday, November 9th - just a day later! Following a quick break in December, the season picks up again with Episode 202's GameTap debut on Thursday, January 10th and worldwide release on Telltale's site just a day later. The rest of the season will follow monthly, with releases landing on the second Thursday and Friday of each month!

Credit to Telltale. Flint Paper back is awesome news, as it had been rumoured for a while. Counting down the days.

Telltale are offering something great for everyone today in the build up to the launch of Season Two. Arguably the best episode of Season One, Abe Lincoln Must Die, is being offered for free. No catches. They've also reduced the cost of Season One as a whole.

So get here, and read how you can obtain ALMD for free. Even if it is just to give the new Sam and Max episodes a trial, this is a great offer to not miss out on.

Today's the day. Hasn't been released on Telltales site as yet but Telltale state it will rear it's head sometime between now and tomorrow morning our time. Early reviews have been positive, and I can't wait as you can probably tell (and thats just for Flint Paper). They are also republishing Surfin' The Highway, which is due for release anytime now, and worth a purchase too.

Telltale have confirmed a third season of Sam and Max to come in early 2009, but also revealed the next episodic project they are working on based on a new property they have snapped up. I don't know anything about it all really, so can't profess my love or fandom of it, but....

Announcing Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People for WiiWare

New episodic series set in Homestar Runner universe coming in June from Telltale

SAN RAFAEL, CA, April 10, 2008 – Interactive entertainment pioneer Telltale, Inc. is pleased to announce Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People (SBCG4AP), a new series of episodic games for WiiWareâ„ĸ, in partnership with Videlectrix. Starring Strong Bad, the self-proclaimed coolest person ever, the series is based on Matt and Mike Chapman's online animated series, which has been running at Homestarrunner.com since 2000. SBCG4AP will launch on WiiWare this June.

As the very first episodic series for connected consoles, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People has been designed specifically for WiiWare, with easy-to-use controls and WiiConnect24â„ĸ features. Like Telltale's popular Sam & Max series, SBCG4AP will be released as a five-episode "season" akin to a season of television. The episodes will come out on a monthly schedule. Release dates and pricing details will be revealed in a future announcement.

"Homestarrunner.com is one of the biggest success stories in online entertainment," says Telltale CEO Dan Connors. "The Chapmans have been treating the Internet to episodic content for years. We're thrilled to have teamed up with them to take episodic gaming to the next level via Nintendo's innovative WiiWare delivery system."

Telltale is working closely with the Chapmans on the series' art style, storylines, and scripts. This hands-on collaboration will deliver long-time fans the ultimate Strong Bad experience and give new players a crash course in the series' offbeat and unusual humor. The episodes play like extended cartoons, during which the player assumes the role of Strong Bad—controlling his actions, hearing his innermost thoughts, and becoming part of his awesome world. SBCG4AP features the cast of characters and locations from the Homestarrunner.com cartoons, and the games are fully voice acted by Matt Chapman and the rest of the original cast.

Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People is a story-driven series with a comic spin that's undeniably Strong Bad. The player uncovers each episode's comedic plot through character interaction, dialogue-based puzzles, and the use (and abuse) of inventory items. In addition, each episode will be crammed with time-wasters to keep players poking around in the world, including Strong Bad emails to check, prank phone calls to place, and mini-games styled after the arcade games on the Homestarrunner.com website.

"Telltale has been rejecting my ideas for green text adventures for years," laments thousandaire gadabout Strong Bad, "but we finally reached a compromise with this puffy 3D point-and-click-em-up adventure. They claim all the coding was done with green text, so I guess that's pretty cool."

In addition to WiiWare, Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People will be available on PC. For more details about the series, including a brand new trailer, screenshots, and Strong Bad's development blog, please visit http://www.telltalegames.com.
