Has anyone seen this running late night on MTV?

htt://www.mtv.com/ontv/dyn/wsx/series.jhtml

I don't think I've seen it mentioned on here before. It's a really brash, OTT wrestling show incorporating music and with a predominantly female audience that started in 2006. I thought it was a joke until I noticed the work was actually pretty good and I've seen X-Pac and Vampiro on there.

EDIT : Sorry, a quick search shows it's been discussed numerous times.

I kind of enjoyed parts of it. Vampiro isn't too bad of a booker. His feud with Ricky Banderas was really good. The booking of that guy who was supposed to not every had a match before was pretty good. I was enjoying the Dragon Gate thing they had going. Plus WSX has Human Tornado with his balls of steel. The Commentators were not bad, if they didn't have to talk the guest they would have done a lot better. Loved the first match though between Sydal and Evans.

Granted WSX had its fair share of **** like that Knob-end of a ring announcer, the guests being really annoying half the time. The Explosions every week and other OTT stuff week in and week out.

It started in early 2007, and had high hopes. But at least you can say it gave a few smark-known indy names some larger scale exposure.

I'm not a fan of MTV programming and it was a bit silly to follow seriously. But I think if wrestling ever wanted to broaden its appeal (and it seems like a bit of a closed shop at the moment) there are elements there the more traditional products could look at.

Oh yea, it's definatly aimed at a different audience and probably fits in well on MTV. Porbably something that should be on after Jackass or something.

Have to love a promotion that ends their first main-event with a tombstone through an exploding casket. And it had Matt Classic, Jack Evans and Human Tornado on their roster, so it automatically ruled. WSX was loads of fun.

This was the first time I saw any of Teddy Hart, and all I can say is I'm extremely impressed. He's one of my favourite wrestlers and I would love to see more of his matches.

I really hope Wrestling Society X returns to MTV, but I'm not holding my breath.

I tried to watch it one night. There was like a battle royal or something on, and X Pac ended up winning the WSX championship. I didn't really like it.

Strangely enough I heard the WSX wrestler's contracts were worcded that they would remain under contract until the 10th episode (filmed before any of the shows went on TV) had aired.

I'm also a huge Teddy Hart fan. It's a damn shame he's burned so many bridges on the Indy scene, because I think he could have to fantastic high-flying matches with the top indy guys.

Heck, if he played it smart in RoH, he'd probably be working Dragon Gate right now.

If you want to see more Teddy you have to try and see some of his work for JAPW.

As for WSX, I was a fan. It was entertainment, but with alot of wrestling. Best part was seeing my Indy favorites on TV, especially the Human Tornado, Evans, Sydal, Hart, and the Dragon Gate boys.

I enjoyed the series for the most part and was lucky to see the majority of episodes as they showed six of them in a row one night. I missed the one with The Defones which bummed me out as I like them. Was that the episode that wasn't aired or just another one I missed? I hadn't seen much from Teddy Hart and was impressed as well. I really enjoyed some of the other wrestlers already mentioned as well. Always good when you can see alternative talent that WWE probably wouldn't use. It's a shame it didn't last but seemed to be mostly due to a power change in MTV and the new person in charge didn't like wrestling (not sure if that's true but what I heard).

From the official WSX MySpace blog:

"From the desk of Fabian Kaelin...

As of today, Fathers Day Sunday June 17, 2007, Ricky Banderas, the Wrestling Society X Champion has been stripped of the Championship due to unsportsmanlike activities unbecoming to a champion.

Early last week, Mr. Banderas was held by police in Wilkes-Barre, PA and is a "person of interest" in the limousine explosion which may or may not have killed Dr. Vincent Kennedy McMahon, Chairman of the World Wrestling Entertainment. Banderas was apprehended after a long struggle involving several chokeslams, and illegal fireballs, subjected to five hours of questioning in which three translators were called in, along with a criminologist who swore Banderas was speaking his an unknown dialect which required close captioning to understand.

Detective Colin MacNiff of the Wilkes-Barre Special Crimes Pro-Wrestling division remarked upon releasing Ricky Banderas from custody due to lack of evidence and comprehension "Mr. Banderas has some priors involving fire and pro wrestling. Hell, he won the WSX title by rigging a coffin with explosives. Even so, what part do explosions play in the wonderful world of pro wrestling? Can someone please explain to me why so many tax dollars are wasted on fruitless pro wrestling investigations?"

Wrestling Society X wishes Ricky Banderas all the best in his future endeavors. We have sent a delicious Hickory Farms summer sausage gift basket to his hospital room in Mexico City as he's is recuperating nicely after his long awaited plastic surgery for his horrific burns courtesy of Vamprio and waiting for the heat to die down.

Details involving the future of the WSX Championship and Wrestling Society X are forthcoming."

Genius.
