Wrestle Zone Wrestling present an 'England (wZw) Vs Scotland (BCW)' Tournament featuring some of the best Wrestlers from both promotions each representing their own home country.

The show is to be filmed by top North East Film Production Company 'Jag Productions' and they will be producing a pilot TV and Internet show. The set and lighting will be provided by 'New York Productions.' The introduction to the wZw team are the wZw showgirl dance troupe, who will open the show and will be performing in the interval.

The tournament will feature 5 matches and a point will be gained for each team when they win a match. The first team to reach 3 clean wins will be crowned the winners and will be presented the 'wZw Tournament Trophy.'

The first three matches for the tournament are as follows…

The Iceman (England) Vs The Highlander (Scotland)

(Hardcore Rules Match)

http://www.wzwuk.com/news/data/upimages/icemanvshighlander.jpg

The rivalry between these two wrestlers stretches back six years and many a bloody battle has happened in both wZw and BCW rings. This match was made a Hardcore Rules Match at the request of both wrestlers. There are no rules in this match. Falls can count anywhere and all weapons are legal. Iceman speaking to the commissioner this afternoon made this statement 'Highlander we have been in many battles over the years, we have bled and broken each others bones. I want to take you back to the night that nearly ended your career, that night in Dumfries when I almost broke your back, that night when you were raised 7 foot in the air and power bombed from a 6 foot high stage through a table. You thought that was the most extreme moment in your career, well I am going to tell you now highlander that was nothing, that was mild, that was easy to what I have planned at Ponteland Leisure Centre on the 7th July.'

Colossal Powers (England) Vs Lionheart & Darkside (Scotland)

(Tag Team Match)

http://www.wzwuk.com/news/data/upimages/colossalpowersvslionheartanddarkside.jpg

BCW's Lionheart and Darkside have decided to tag up for one night only and take on the established wZw tag team of Bad News Anderson and Jake Rockwell 'The Colossal Powers.' The Colossal Powers on what seems to be a bit of a losing streak are hoping to turn their fortunes around and destroy their opponents. Its going to be a case of the high flying super fast BCW team against the hard hitting powerful style the wZw team. This tag team match could be match of the night!

Micky L (England) Vs Drew Galloway (Scotland)

(Singles Match)

http://www.wzwuk.com/news/data/upimages/mickyvsdrew.jpg

One of the strangest match ups in the history of wZw, this is the giant of Drew Galloway against the much smaller Micky L. On paper this match looks like it could be over in seconds. Drew Galloway not only has a massive size and power advantage but can match the speed and agility of Micky L. This will be Micky L's biggest match to date and could be Drew Galloways last for wZw before he flies off to join the WWE in America.

Tony Spitfire Vs Lance Thunder

(Grudge Match)

http://www.wzwuk.com/news/data/upimages/spittyvsswanny.jpg

The only match of the show that is not part of the tournament. Tony Spitfire and Lance Thunder up until the last show at Seaham were one of the most dominant tag teams in the UK. Seaham saw the tag team lose against 'Carbon' and rookie 'Ben Stone.' Thunder attacked Tony Spitfire accusing him of being a loser and not worthy to wear 'The North East Bulldogs' jacket. Before a full in ring brawl happened, the commissioner 'Phil Robinson' came to the ring and told them if they want to fight they do it on the next show.

The Pre-sales for this show are already indicating that this could be a sell out show, so both sets of wZw and BCW fans are advised to get their tickets now and support your promotion.

Quick Results.

A full report will follow soon...

Approx 350 in attendance, a great atmosphere and the crowd were hot all night!

The brand new stage set and lighting rig was unveiled and I know i am biased but I have to say I have not seen anything bigger and better outside TNA and WWE, with a live 3 camera edit shown on screen (with no delay) moved the show one step closer to what wzw are aiming to achieve.

Dual Nations Trophy Tournament

Liam Thompson def Carbon (Scotland 1 - 0 England)

Iain Robinson def Jake Rockwell (Scotland 2 - 0 England)

Drew Galloway came out first to the ring, then attacked Micky L as he came out, he took Micky L to the top of the tage and powerbombed him off the stage through a table on the outside. Medics were called in and Micky was stretchered off.

Iceman def Highlander in a Hardcore match (Scotland 2 - 1 England)

Then we had the interval the wZw 'In the Zone' Dancers entertained the corwd with a couple of hot hot dance routines...

The Empire (John Britain & Bad News Anderson) def Lionheart and Jack Jester (Scotland 2 - 2 England)

Drew Galloway was about to be presented the trophy as Micky L did not appear to be making the match. Just as Drew was being handed over the trophy Micky's music hit the PA and Micky L came to the ring, took a severe beating but by a fluke took the win.

Micky L def Drew Galloway (Scotland 2 - 3 England)

Micky L was presented the trophy by the wZw 'In the Zone' Dancers, down came the England team to join in the celebrations.

Aftermatch, Drew Galloway stormed backstage and attacked The Iceman in his locker room (footage of this will be live on the website tomorrow evening), throwing Iceman over the medic table into the wall. After the locker room pulled Drew out away from Iceman, Iceman made a chilling warning to Drew Galloway, that next week in Ponteland, Iceman and Drew Galloway will be facing off in the main event in a number 1 contenders match for the wZw heavyweight title in a 15foot high steel cage!!!!!

I live in good old Peterlee and am thinking of going down to the show on Friday. It was a fun night last time WZW ran here and it always gets a good turn out and all the promotion it seems to do are a few posters in the shops around the town.

Any more detilas on the card?

in-depth show report

The set at Ponteland Leisure for wZw’s return was absolutely amazing. With a huge video screen, beaming the action back live from 3 different cameras, and two separate entrances for the opposing teams.

The entire show was dedicated to Team wZw v Team BCW in an England v Scotland tournament. A point was to be earned for each victory in a best of 5 format as the teams competed for the Dual Nations Trophy. The packed Ponteland crowd were white hot all night and were unflinching in their support of Team wZw.

(Team BCW) Liam Thompson v Carbon (Team wZw)

Thompson opened the show well with a handful of moves, mainly working on Carbon’s back. Thompson seemed to lack focus at times and Carbon came back into the match, hitting a springboard flying forearm from the apron to the middle of the ring. As Thompson regained the advantage, he went to the top rope on several occasions but Carbon refused to be pinned following a top rope splash and a diving head butt. Carbon fought back again and looked ready to win the first point of the tournament but as he tried slam Thompson the move was reversed into a DDT. Thompson finished the match with a flying elbow drop to take the win for his team.

Iain Robinson came out to the ring to announce his intention to represent Team BCW in honour of his Scottish grandparents. Robinson demanded a representative from wZw face him one on one. Sir Johnathon Britain came out to the stage with his Colossal Powers (Jake Rockwell & Bad News Anderson) and advised that he was splitting the Powers up for one night only. Anderson & Rockwell seemed as surprised as anyone upon hearing the news but Rockwell, when ordered to face Robinson, hit the ring and attacked his opponent.

(Team BCW) Iain Robinson v Jake Rockwell (Team wZw)

Rockwell had the best of Robinson in the early going but a super kick sent Rockwell to the canvas. Robinson thought he had won the match but Rockwell somehow rolled a shoulder to kick out just before the count of 3. As the match went on Rockwell gained some momentum and had a chance to level the tournament scorecard when he drilled Robinson with a fierce gore but, as with Rockwell before him, Robinson kicked out. Both men were growing increasingly frustrated at their opponent’s tenacity and Robinson was livid when Rockwell kicked out after a top rope moonsault. Robinson left the ring to grab the ring bell. On his return to the ring, Robinson laid the ring bell down and loosened the turnbuckle. The referee was distracted by this and Robinson picked the bell back up. As the referee was about to turn round, Robinson threw the bell to Rockwell and lay down in the centre of the ring. The referee made the wrong assumption and promptly disqualified Rockwell to put Team BCW 2-0 up.

Drew Galloway came out to face Micky L in the third contest of the tournament but this match would be put in jeopardy after The Scotsman’s despicable actions. Galloway retreated back through the Scottish entrance before Micky L arrived at ringside and returned to attack his smaller opponent. After manhandling Micky for a few moments, the massive Galloway lifted Micky high above his head and power bombed him from the stage through the trophy table below. Staff and a medic rushed to Micky’s aid and the match was postponed.

(Team BCW) The Highlander v Iceman (Team wZw)

HARDCORE RULES

When the matches were originally announced for the tournament, both wrestlers reportedly requested this type of match. The duo have had a storied and brutal rivalry spanning years and have shed blood in wZw and BCW rings against each other in steel chain and previous hardcore matches. Iceman entered the ring after his opponent, bringing a selection of weapons with him in a steel bin. The European Hardcore Icon emptied the weapons into the ring and smashed the bin over Highlander’s head, busting him open immediately. As the blood flowed, Iceman laid a dinner tray over Highlander’s crotch and crashed a pool cue down onto the tray, splitting the tray in two and smashing the cue into several pieces. Iceman took the action to the outside and despite Highlander sending Iceman into the steel ring post, Iceman sent Highlander headfirst into the steel ring steps. Highlander spent some time on the offensive but he was suplexed through a steel ringside fence, which was propped up in the corner as Iceman edged closer to victory. Highlander managed to kick out after taking the cannonball but moments later Iceman executed a brutal piledriver on the bloodied Scotsman to pick up Team wZw’s first win of the night.

MC Andy ‘The Mouth’ Adams directed the excellent Ponteland crowd to the video screen as footage of Micky L receiving treatment aired. Adams had gone backstage to ask if Micky could compete and although the medical staff categorically stated Micky was not fit to compete, Micky was adamant that he would be facing Galloway tonight.

(Team BCW) Lionheart & Jack Jester v Bad News Anderson & Sir Johnathon Britain (Team wZw)

After the contest began with a four man brawl, the BCW boys took control, utilising tandem offence with a step up dropkick and stereo high flying moves. Anderson found himself cut off from his tag team partner, Britain, and the quick tags and double teaming from Team BCW wore Anderson down. It took a desperation spine buster from Anderson to earn him the opportunity of making the tag and Britain came into the ring to clean house with bionic elbows and scoop slams on both Lionheart & Jester. After Britain hit a Stirling Slam on Jester and went for the cover, Lionheart tried to break up the pinfall with a Swanton Bomb but Britain moved and Lionheart landed on his own partner. Britain and Anderson felled Lionheart and cover both men in a pile up for the win, and the equalising point.

Drew Galloway came out to claim the Dual Nations Trophy stating that Micky L was not able to compete and therefore he would have to forfeit the match, and the deciding point. As Galloway was about to be presented with the trophy, Micky’s music hit and the defiant Micky L struggled down the ramp with his ribs taped up to challenge his attacker.

(Team BCW) Drew Galloway v Micky L (Team wZw)

Galloway was in control of this contest for at least 95% of the match. Galloway bullied and toyed with the smaller Micky L and focused on his ribs. Snap suplexes, submission moves, power slams and much more caused further injury to Micky. Every so often, Micky would try to mount a comeback - he dived off the apron and executed a hurricanrana to Galloway on the outside - but moments later when trying to repeat the move, Galloway reversed it into a powerbomb on the arena floor, reminiscent of Galloway’s earlier attack. Galloway continued to toy with Micky for a while but grew increasingly frustrated when Micky kicked out after a tombstone piledriver. Galloway was irate and seemed to finally be focused but his temper had the opposite effect and Galloway made an error that allowed Micky back into the match. Micky scaled the ropes and hit the Best Frogsplash Ever but his injured ribs meant he didn’t have enough energy to make the cover. Micky got back to his feet and climbed the ropes on the opposite corner. After hitting the BFE again, Micky made the cover and got the deciding 1, 2, 3.

Team wZw came out to celebrate with Micky and hoisted him onto their shoulders as he raised the trophy aloft, to the delight of the delighted Ponteland crowd.
