First details of '08 are starting to surface, so course we require a thread to drool over them. This comes thanks to TVG:

Latest instalment to feature a raft of refinements and a number of overhauls...

SEGA Europe and Sports Interactive have today confirmed the development of Football Manager 2008. Set for release on PC and Mac before Christmas with Xbox 360 and PSP versions in early 2008, Football Manager 2008 will be the latest iteration of the hit management sim, to be joined in March by Football Manager Live.

A raft of features are being built into the game including improved usability, a new dynamic Adviser system, and a complete overhaul of the International Management system and the Awards system. Sports Interactive are also implementing more effective compression techniques, allowing for quicker load and save times. Besides a list of a dozen advancements, FM 2008 will also include over 100 adjustments to the game, with the aim of making the franchise more user-friendly than the past.

In a bid to re-create a more realistic transition in the build up to a match, FM 2008 will see the debut of Match Flow, and feature a step-by-step process that shift seamlessly from team selection, tactics, each of the halves, and post-match analysis. Timed out tactical changes have also been removed, replaced by real-time tactics and a mini-pitch, which will also be used in Football Manager Live.

A new Confidence system will also be included, aggregating the thoughts of the board and the supporters into a single section. Calls for the manager to drop players or keep track on certain finances will feature in Confidence, with the supporters views on individual performances having a direct effect on a player's morale.

International Management has is also receiving an overhaul this year, with improved Pool Selection, player interactions, Captain selection, and separate morale ratings for players all helping to create a broader and more realistic experience. Additional details such as the commentary noticing when an international manager is watching a match, and speculation as to whom he's there to watch, will further deepen the franchise's reputation for delivering compelling gameplay.

SI has confirmed however that the Face in the Game competition will not running this year; instead the studio has licensed 'FaceGen', which will randomly generate a face for every fictional character in the game. Even more remarkably is the news that the fictional players' images will visibly age over time until their retirement from the game.

"With Football Manager 2008 we're once again raising the bar in the sports management genre." commented Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive. "With dozens of new small features and larger things like a complete revamp of international management and the new match flow system, we're really looking forward to seeing the reaction from people when they get to play it on release."

Most important question I have regarding this game is...Can you be docked points and fined by your FA for illegally signing a player?

Just read on Wiki that this will be out on October 26th,can't wait to get it,anyone else going to purchase it?
I might try this myself.
I'd recommend the game although it might enhance the chances of you having less of a social life once you begin playing it.
I'll definately be getting it. Looking forward to it....

I was always a Pro Evo man,I heard such good things about last years one Im eager to try this one.

I just managed to quit World of Warcraft, i doubt another deep game is the best idea for me at this time :)

Don't mean to sound like a cheapo but it's nearly 100% probable that it will put up as a torrent within a day of it's release.

I know which option I'll take.

Has anyone got this yet? If so is it any good?

i got it yesterday-went as shaktar donestk and aberdeen in scotland. So far so good but havent really had chance to play it fully yet.

Nearly missed my bus to uni to get the game :lol

Yeah its very good
Am Tottenham signed Barnetta from Leverkusen and Maduro from Ajax after 5 games top of the league lost to Citeh and drew to Birmingham and beat Reading, Wigan and Chelsea. Lot of people injured but hopefully in a week or 2 will have a full compliment of players availible again

Who says this game is unrealistic :lol

Started with Dawson King + Lennon all out for 2 months and now Barnetta is out for a month and Bale missed a couple of games as well...Berbatov has 0 goals but 5 assists and Keane 3 goals, Bent 4 including the winner vs. Chelsea...Berbatov scored 4 for Bulgaria in one of their Euro 2008 qualifiers during the international break so hopefully he will come back firing on all cylinders
One thing, can I get this game *cough* you know how *cough* ?
Thats a trick because if you look at the date in the bottom right corner the date is 2009 and the 2012 championships has already started. Which makes no sense
Yea but its because on international management the dates get screwed so it doesnt have to process so many days of league football I think
